so does it not work on all old wiis?

Nope, I have a launch Wii, and it is running just fine.

I got my Wii in December of 2006. I can't play Brawl right now either =(. I'm going to send it to Nintendo and they'll fix it for free.

It doesn't appear to work on Wii's that have collected to much dust.Which means you haven't played your Wii in a while.

my Wii is housed in the same room as a smoker and the site says that tobacco residue and dust buildup are the reasons your Wii can't read the disk. Apparently a duel layer disk is more fickle about this (no kidding). Coincidentaly my Wii is a launch unit... from Alaska

ah well, Nintendo's fixing it for free, I just have to wait a week

Is the wii modded?
A certain mod chip....I dunno which .....will screw up the wii's dual-layer reading abilities.

My friend got his wii re-modded XD

I got my Wii since December of 06, it did have trouble loading Brawl, but i works fine know...
