As with all great events & competitions there has to be some Rules, so here they are -
We will be playing by Tournament rules which are listed below: Please everyone read these rules. I am sure that neither myself nor anyone else will want to put up with any complaints on the day of the tournament, such as "well i only play the games this way" or "I must use that character." So PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE RULES and understand the limitations within the tournaments so there will be no misunderstandings & grievances later. These Rules will also be posted on the table on event day.

Smashed, Mashed & Broken
------------------------------------
Tournament Rules: 1 player vs 1 player

• Players play best 2 out of 3 matches.
• Double Elimination.
• Each match is played with timed stock, 4 stock and 8 minutes. (10 Minutes for SSBB)
• SSBM: In the case that time runs out and both characters have an equal amount of lives, the character with less damage wins the match. If both characters have equal lives and damage, Sudden Death will determine the winner.
• SSBB: If both stock and percentage are identical, or a game ends with both players being KO'd simultaneously (typically because of a Sacrificial KO via Bowser's Flying Slam or Ganondorf's Flame Choke), then a tiebreaker is played. A tie breaker is a 1 stock, 3 minute match with the same characters and the same stage.
• Items are turned off.
• For the first match, characters are chosen double-blind - at the same time, so that neither player knows his opponent's character beforehand.
• SSBB: Meta Knight is banned.
• Stalling is banned. (Stalling is defined as any action that deliberately avoids all conflict as to make the game unplayable. Running from an opponent to get to a better position is not considered stalling, but using chain grabs infinitely against a wall beyond 300% or using Sonic's Homing Attack repeatedly underneath the stage is.)
• Some interactions (for example, interrupting a throw with a wind attack) can cause one character to become frozen until being hit. If this happens, the free character is expected to capitalize on this in a timely manner; a failure to do so is considered stalling.
• Any action that prevents the game from continuing results in a forfeiture of the match for the offender.
• Controller ports are determined by Rock-Paper-Scissors if there is a dispute.

Stages
Stages are divided up into starter, counter pick, and banned. Starter stages are the only stages that are used in the first game of a match. After that, the loser may pick any stage, starter or counter pick that is not banned.
Slob pick rules apply. The loser of the first match (and of successive matches) chooses the next stage, and then the winner chooses his character, and then the loser chooses his character.
• The first match is played with a Random Stage.

o SSBM: Starter Stages
Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, Battlefield, Dream Land (N64) & Final Destination

o SSBB: Starter Stages
Battlefield, Yoshi’s Island, Smashville, Lylat Cruise, Pokemon’s Stadium(Melee), Final Destination & Castle Siege

o SSBM: Counterpick Stages
Pokemon Stadium, Brinstar, Kongo Jungle (N64) & Rainbow Cruise

o SSBB: Counter pick Stages
Frigate Orpheon, Brinstar, Pictochat, Rainbow Cruise, Pokemon Stadium 2, Jungle Japes & Norfair

All other stages are banned.
----------------------------------

• The loser can also not choose any stage that has already been played earlier that round.

Techniques/Glitches - SSBM
In order to prevent degenerate game play techniques, certain exploitations of the game that give one character an unintended and unfair advantage over others are banned.
• Banned glitches
• Freeze Glitch
• Yo-yo glitch
• Banned Stalling Techniques
• Repeated rising pound
• Repeated Peach Bomber on a wall
• Luigi Ladder
• N.B. The rising pound and peach bomber on the wall are only banned if they are being use to stall. Using them to recover is acceptable.

Minimum 40 people must say they are coming to this event to make it valid.
