Smash Scene in Winnipeg Area

Hi, I actually live about 2 hours away from Winnipeg but this is the closest I can travel at the moment. I'm looking to get into some competitive play, preferably Smash for Wii U. Melee is a maybe, I haven't been very good at it since 2007 though...

Online play is not an option for me by the way ha ha. I not only have a really lame Internet connection, but even at my friends places, there seems to be a slight input lag. Now this is in every match I've played, so I don't think I've been playing the lowest of connections. The lag is super slight, but still manages to throw me off my game. I'd much rather be in the moment with other players anyways.
