I don't even know, guys.

After the game came out, Smashboards kinda lost a lot of luster for me so I'm mainly back to check out my silhouette thread for any new comments. I think it's a similar thing for lots of other people, potentially the other judges included

I've reached out to Jumpman about his grades, but it's been a while since he last logged on, so no promises. That said, i'm perfectly willing to keep on with the contest if everyone here would go for another round. When I know something, you'll know something, so try and keep faith that I can at least get this round closed.

Trust me, this is quite the

psst

hellow, reactivation is underway, we are gonna skip Smash Tour to focus on fan-created stages.

I may or may not be taking suggestions for what fan-stage to use. If you made a stage that has been posted to either the Stage Contest thread or the "Post your stages" thread, toss me a PM with your not-entirely-noodly arms and i'll see if we can work things out with the fellow judges. Keep in mind that getting a stage accepted also permits you to guest judge for the round your stage is featured on.

I may have even already sent some PMs myself about negotiations...

Our Smash Tour may be over <we will try to finish the grades eventually, however>, but now we can go on a trip of interstellar proportions...

WITH OUR FIRST FAN-MADE STAGE!
As a note, please ignore any mentions of song lists on a given fan-stage, as we will try our best to ignore them ourselves. Keeps us unbiased and fair, you know? =P

Round Twenty-two: Tallon IV
Universe: Metroid

Game of Origin: Metroid Prime <GC, 2002>
Stage Creator: Phaazoid <Read the original pitch for the stage Here>

Samus is a pretty big girl, but that just means her travels are that much bigger, leading to many explored planets. One such destination is Tallon IV, with varied environments, including the vast overworld, the Chozo Ruins, Phendrana Drifts, Magmoor Caverns and even a Phazon Mine.

Your judges for this round are:
:4villager: myself, @ TechPowah TechPowah :4villager:
:4ness: @ L LF2K :4ness:
:ivysaur: @ Kevandre Kevandre :ivysaur:
:4samus: And our special guest judge, @ Phaazoid Phaazoid :4samus:

Ready your Varia Suits, and let's start!

And here's a Tallon IV tracklist!

1. Metroid Prime Melody
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime
The medley for this lovely tracklist! Features several themes from the game remixed for a more Smash-oriented feel.
2. Vs. Dark Samus
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

3. Vs. Metroid Prime (Core)
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime

4. Staff Roll
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime

5. Vs. Omega Pirate
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime

6. Vs. Meta Ridley
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime

7. Vs. Chykka
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

8. Sanctuary Fortress
Game of Origin: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

I was going to put in a medley of the Hunter battle themes from Metroid Prime Hunters, but was stymied by the "only one medley" rule. That said, I'm pretty happy with this list, and tended towards faster paced songs that suit Smash (or faster paced remixes, in the medley's case).

Hah, it's back! I graded this stage! I don't know much about metroid, so I won't enter this round, but I may prepare a miscellaneous tracklist just for the heck of it.
Any chance we'll do the Theater from Paper Mario any time soon? Because if not, I'll just post my track list now.

Results are here, yay! But before we declare the winner, let's take a look at the judges' scores:

I think you had a pretty good selection of songs. But I took off for variety because a good deal of songs sounded alike. It also could of helped to have songs from outside of the Prime trilogy.

Like above, all the songs were good. But it still would have been better for variety if you had some songs from outisde the Prime games.

Maybe I'm being a little harsh with this one, but for this particular stage... I don't know that the higher velocity songs work quite as well. The medley is great and I think that the End Credits Prime song and Sanctuary Fortress work very well, but the Vs. Boss themes don't quite strike me that well for this stage, or at least as well as they would for other Metroid stages like Pyrosphere. But you've got good songs and they're definitely memorable, so there's that! Variety is low because while there is some, several of them are very similar boss songs, like I mentioned before. While I do love the Medley, I think I'd have rather seen those songs as their own individual songs rather than some of the battle music.:4samus::4samus::4samus::4samus:

You did a bit of a better job of capturing the feel of this stage, I think. Maybe because you judged it before and didn't choose mine. A lot of your songs are slower, more epic songs that I think fit the stage very well. Aside from the Omega Ridley and Essence of Metroid Prime songs, I think that all of these work very well. Variety is definitely varied and you've got some really good music here! Really no complaints at all about any except for those two, which I feel are too fast pace for this stage. Very good selection!:4samus::4samus::4samus::4samus:

A similar tracklist as Ascended had... which is not at all a bad thing! Actually, I think you chose some good alternative songs. The Meta Ridley song fits the stage better than the Omega Ridley song does, I think. And while I still disagree with the "Essence" song for this particular stage, all three of you chose to include it so maybe I'm in the wrong on that one. Maybe a Smashified slowed down remix might work better? I dunno. Anyway. In general I don't really have many complaints about this aside from that one choice. Well done!

You have the main themes for all the stage's location, which is all I need for Importance. I like the Prime Core and Sanctuary Fortress themes, though the Omega Pirate and Chykka themes are a bit too soft for a traveling stage.

You have a Tallon IV Overworld theme and the Prime 1 main theme, which is great. I LOVE using the Prime 2 Title Theme, and the Dark Samus battle theme is a huge plus. The other 3 themes seem a touch too dramatic for a traveling stage, though.

Overworld 2 and the Prime 1 title are great, and the Prime 2 Multi is a good choice. Dark Samus is a plus, but i'm not sold on how well the Trilogy title, Rundas or Meta Ridley fit.

First off, let me say that I think all three of you guys had some great variety, and the pieces I think are most important generally overlapped in your entries, which makes them hard to meaningfully distinguish, but I'll give it a go anyways since that is the job of judge.

I feel like creating a medley for this contest is sorta cheating since it doesn't really exist, but I do love the concept of it. I'd probably have it as one of the most likely songs to play on this stage if it were a good medley. The VS. Omega Pirate was a little bit of a questionable choice to me, but I appreciate the variety from within Prime 1 itself. I think the 3 Metroid songs you chose not from Prime 1 were fitting as well, and somewhat unique.

I docked a little bit in fit because only a few of the songs actually came from Prime 1, and I'm not sure how well the Essence piece works in smash, not one of my favorites. However, the pieces you did pull from other games are good ones, like Rundas and the Prime 3 title. You also include the better of the Tallon Overworld themes. Overall a good selection for the prime series in general, so even though I was looking for Prime 1 stuff I can't be mad.

I like the stuff you chose from Prime 1, first off. Meta Ridley and the opening/menu theme are both strong choices, and Overworld 2 is a classic. I especially like your selection for the inclusion of the Prime 2 Multiplayer piece, I think that's one of the best pieces Prime 2 has to offer, and it's especially fitting for smash. And as I commented on Ascended, I like both the Rundas theme and Prime 3 title theme.

This game's winner is... @ theTRUEchamp theTRUEchamp ! Conlaturgrations, your prize is...this weird bunny thing...huh. Well, let's see if I can't find an animal carrier-hold on, getting a call from Samus...Mhmm, Mhmm. Well , this is embarrassing, she says it's Federation property. Something about Ridley, I unno. I don't know what he's got to do with this, but I might as well hand it over to her. Maybe next weird bunny thing!

Here is my list! I decided that this stage as an opportunity to showcase a few of Yoshi's darker sounding themes. At the same time, I didn't want to lose the whimsical nature of the series.

I tried to find a good balance.

Love is in the Air (Tall Tower) - Yoshi's Story - N64 - 1997

The original theme of the original place! This needs a major remix though. It's kind of slow. Seems like a no brainer, but it is...yet another Yoshi's Story Main Theme remix. Lot's of those in both Smash and Yoshi's Story...

Baby Bowser's Lullaby - Yoshi's Story - N64 -1997

A bit tame but haunting nonetheless. This is the theme of the final level in Yoshi's Story. Right before you fought Baby Bowser! The instrumentation is calmly eerie but I think that it can fit just fine.

Baby Bowser Phase 1 / Baby Bowser Phase 2 - Yoshi's Story - N64 - 1997

The final boss themes! One for each phase! I imagine these two pieces going together in a medley. Baby Bowser is a tricky fellow, but he gave us two upbeat themes. Finally!

Bowser - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - SNES - 1995

OH NO! MORE BABY BOWSER! He's invading the contest but his themes are just so good I can't leave them out. I imagine this working well for the darker atmosphere of Tall Tower.

Big Boss - Yoshi's Island DS - DS - 2006

So many boss themes... This is upbeat and gives a whimsical feeling. I think it fits the tower perfectly! Perhaps it could be remixed with something else. But I'm not sure what that would be.

Story Music Box - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - SNES - 1995

Now for something a little more relaxing. This theme is always in the Yoshi's Island games. In it, it plays whenever a story event happens. Usually near the beginning or end. There is already a remix of it through Yoshi's Island (SSB4) but I feel it needs a dedicated on.

Action Type A - Yoshi's Cookie - NES - 1992

Here's an obscure piece. This piece was famously found in Brawl's data and appears to be a scrapped peice of music. I thought that this was the perfect stage for this tune to make a comeback! It's whimsical nature fits the stage perfectly.

Flipside - Super Paper Mario - Wii - 2007

Well this is an odd choice eh? Well, Mario RPG music found it's way into Wooly World. I say Flipside can make it here. It's a whimsical piece that fits the stage....

I say whimsical a lot.

First time doing this. I haven't played many "Yoshi" games, but I'm going to try my best.

Love Is In the Air/Tall Tower - Yoshi's Story - N64 - 1997
I believe that including the main theme of the area the stage is based on is standard when it comes to stage music selection. The two themes would alternate after playing their respective variation of the main theme once.

The Riddle - Yoshi's Story - N64 - 1997
While Baby Bowser's Lullaby is more iconic, this variation of the theme, in my opinion would fit the stage better.

Title Theme - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (Arrangement in link comes from Fortune Street) - SNES/SFC - 1995
A notably under-used track in the series that I feel would fit with the stage. (Although it would be a different variation of the theme.)

Underground Theme - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - SNES/SFC - 1995
An iconic track in the series, another that would need a remix.

In the Clouds - Yoshi's Island DS - DS - 2006
While overall the same melody as the Wildlands theme that's already in Smash 4, this variation of the theme has a different feel that still fits with the stage.

Hotfoot Hurdle - Yoshi's New Island - 3DS - 2014
One of the few songs anyone likes from the game. I'm aware of the unpopularity of the game in general, but I feel it's relevant enough to use another variation of the theme.

Theme C - Yoshi - NES - 1992
An obscure track, and I'll admit that I find it strange that the game is in the "Masterpieces" section of the game when there aren't any elements from the actual game. (Another track that would need a remix.)

Boss Battle - Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - DS - 2005
As Swampasaur said, since music from various Mario RPGs appear on Woolly World, this song should be OK here. Also, this song (or some other song from the game) was supposedly going to be in Brawl and since this game features the Baby Mario Bros., who are a big part of the Yoshi series, also appear here, it fits slightly more.

I'll give this a try.

1. Love is in the Air (Yoshi's Story): The original song.
2. Koopa Canyon (Yoshi's New Island): I was semi-tempted to put in Bandit Valley, but this song also fits in with this level.
3. Baby Bowser (Yoshi's Island): The popular final boss theme from Yoshi's Island. It's already a part of a Yoshi's Island remix, but I think it needs more emphasis by its lonesome.
4. In the Clouds (Yoshi's Island DS): One of the few remarkable songs in the DS game. Apparently a version of it already exists in Smash, but I think that a remix can give it its own identity.
5. Sky Area (Yoshi Touch & Go): I believe the song matches the aesthetic of the stage. It's kinda calming as well.
6. Overworld Theme (Yoshi's Island): A song that has been MIA for the past few Smash games.
7. Never Let Up! (Mario & Luigi: Dream Team): Choosing between this, Your Dream Adventure, and the boss theme from PiT was difficult to decide. I chose this one because it's more upbeat.
8. Lineland Road (Super Paper Mario): I think that the song fits in with the area itself. Besides, we need to give more love to Super Paper Mario and its pretty underrated soundtrack.

This was harder to do than I expected. Many of the songs in the Yoshi series sound very similar to each other; I wanted to put in another Yoshi's Story song, but a large majority of them are variations of the main theme.
I guess you can say that I cheesed it with the last two songs, but Woolly World already has Mario RPG songs, so...
