He's definitely a solid player. He only ONLY plays Samus though.

I'm quite sure that my Link has an edge over him, but I guess I was kind of off that day...

Peruvian Smash Tourney

I don't know what happened with my vids and why they were transferred here but anyway. Here are some vids from a tourney in Lima that was made last sunday.I didnpt attend to it but there were some nice matches. The only smashers who passed into the finals were NessCosmoz,LocoSmash and Nack. The others were eliminated because they didn't get the points. The winner of this tourney was supposed to be our best weapon to represent our city and play whoever wants xD. haha JK. Enjoy the vids.

The winner was NessCosmoz because he got more points in the score. I know that the rules are different from what you have seen but I suppose the best won.Unfortunately Vlady didn't participate he just played some friendlies. Here are the links:

you should keep the topic alan posted open and post the videos here as well
Do you think that should be the case for all videos? I.e. keep them all in this thread for quick reference, and have its own thread for discussion purposes?

I asked Blue Yoshi a few days ago concerning this matter, and we thought that it would probably be better (than a one-thread catch-all) if this thread was restricted to match videos, but instructional and combo videos go in their own thread.

So do you think that a one-thread catch-all AND separate threads would be best? Who else thinks this is a good idea? I'll PM Blue Yoshi about it. If you guys (and he) think that would be better, then I'll go ahead and open up Alancitu's thread back up.

Good videos Alan and A$. A$ though, i dont think you need 16:9 and 1080. It's like trying to enlarge the "System" font.

This is why a video sub-forum is ideal. You can have the video and discussion in its own thread. And if you're hell-bent on the online vs console thing, then have a subforum within the subforum for ONLINE videos.

Blue Yoshi said that your (Boom's) proposed idea is fine, and it seems fine with me, and a few other people said it was good, too. So, we'll have this thread remain a sticky and function primarily as a reference video thread, and people can post in the thread they have created

HOWEVER, it will be limited to one video thread per person. So if you have new matches to upload, and you've created a thread some time in the past, just find that thread and bump it with new videos. It will be OK to multi-post (but use your judgment... if you posted some videos a few minutes or hours ago, then just edit your post, don't multi-post). This way, we reduce forum clutter and you guys get a chance to bump older videos as well.

Oh yeah, and I'll go ahead and open up Alancitu's duplicate thread. Someone post in it to bump it, please. Link here. :p

I personally don't think that's necessary (the Competitive forum doesn't get checked that often as is), but if it starts to get cluttered out here then we can re-evaluate the idea. Feel free to create a poll though.

Actually, no it's not. Try playing a 3D game in fullscreen on a very low resolution, then try playing it again on your monitor's maximum resolution. There's a huge difference. Primarily, edges are much sharper. The only thing that doesn't improve when you increase the resolution in an N64 emulator are textures/sprites.

Well my point is, since ssb64 is a low resolution 3D game (dont compare it with a good recent 3D game) the graphics hardly improve on such high resolutions

If you can't tell the difference between SSB running in its native resolution and SSB running in HD, then you need glasses. :dizzy:

No, I play in windowed mode. I record in fullscreen though.

Sharper edges make it worth it, IMO. It makes a playable difference when the camera is zoomed out, since it's easier to tell what's going on (more important for team matches, but still).

Yes, I have all the settings on max. However, resolution trumps anti-aliasing EVERY time.

On another topic, don't bother editing your accidental double posts. If I see two posts of the same thing, then I'll just assume it was an accident and delete it.

King Funk, SilentSlayers and I have commentated another match between boom and sheer, you can get it here:

I hope you will like it.
And A$, is what I am doing ok, the double posting in the commentary thread and in this?
I think this one is much better than the first commentary you did. It was more fluid and natural sounding. Good job.

Somebody said that people crouch before they parry so that the knockback is reduced if they mess up, but it's actually so that Yoshi's big head isn't in the way... it sounds kind of dumb in words, maybe I should draw a picture :p

Good job on the commentary, it was better than the commentary in the first video IMO.

Perhaps, but I don't think that's the major reason; crouching makes parrying aerials way easier. Seriously, try it =D

I agree, it makes parrying easier. If your opponent jumps, he is forced to try to hit Yoshi while falling, because he is unable to hit Yoshi at the highest point of his short hop. This makes it easier to predict when to parry. I also think the size of Yoshi's shield is bigger than the size of him crouching, which should also help, but I haven't confirmed this.

You misunderstood. I never said his shield size gets bigger or smaller, I meant his shield size is bigger than his hurtbox while he is crouching. This would help when parrying attacks coming from above.
