Smash Wii U Smash 4 Monitor - 60hz vs 144hz

Would it be better to use a 60hz or 144hz monitor for smash 4?

Things to note:

• Smash 4 plays at 60 FPS
• Wii U supports v-sync, but I don't know if Smash 4 does
  • If it does support v-sync, then I would imagine a 60hz or 120hz monitor would better. Could I alternatively dial my 144hz monitor to 60hz? Or will my monitor adjust automatically?
  • If it does NOT support v-sync, then I would assume the higher the refresh rate the better

I have the BenQ in this link, it is amazing for tournaments and home play. It is very light and portable, has built in speakers for tournaments, 1ms input delay, great colour, and just the right size for taking places.
