Hey everyone! Kaiza here.
If you've been paying attention to SA's stream or Facebook group then you may have heard about a new SA major for Smash to be at. Southern Cross Championships (SXC) is in it's 2nd year running and this year we are proud to announce that we will be hosting tournaments for FOUR Smash Bros. titles:
Melee, Project M, Brawl
AND, the first state in Australia to host
Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U
(Wii U's and GC adapters will be provided, but it doesn't stop you from bringing your own)
When is it?
December 6 & 7
Where is it?
Rumours Cafe & Harry Medlin Rooms, Union House @ University of Adelaide (North Terrace) - South Australia

Most of the people travelling interstate for other games are staying at the Crowne Plaza where we have an actual deal booked with them (mention Southern Cross Championships) with is located in the city. Or you could post in our SA Smash Bros. Facebook group where there are a good amount of people willing to house you for the weekend

Counterpick:

GENERAL RULES:
• Stocks: 4
• Time Limit: 8 Minutes
• Items: Off and NONE.
• Input buffer is disabled
• Double Elimination Bracket
• Bracket Sets: Best of 3
• Finals Sets: Best of 5
• Pause: Pause is set to off for all tournament matches. In the event it is not set to off and the game is accidentally paused, the player responsible for the pause will forfeit 1 stock
• Disqualification Clause: After a match has been called; if a player is 2 minutes late they will receive a warning. At 4 minutes late, they will be given a loss for the first game of the set. After 6 minutes, they will be given a loss of the entire set.
DOUBLES RULES:
• Team Attack: On
• Sharing stocks is allowed
• Yoshi's Story is banned and is replaced by Distant Planet as a starter.
OTHER RULES:
• If time runs out, the winner is determined by stock, then percentage.
• If time runs out and both stock and percentage are identical, or a game ends with both players being KO'd simultaneously, then a re-match is played on the same stage with the same characters.
• Extending an infinite lock/chain/combo above 200% is banned.
SET PROCEDURE:
1. Both players choose their characters (as well as their costume) for the first game. A double-blind pick may be requested by either player.
2. Players will Rock-Paper-Scissors and the winner will choose between being second to ban or to have port priority.
3. Players strike stages from the Starter Stage List in a P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
4. The winner of the previous game is allowed to ban any 2 stages the opponent can not pick in the next game.
(Bans will be allowed in 'finals' sets)
5. The loser of the previous game chooses a stage from the Starter or Counterpick Stage List. Neither player may select a stage that they have won on previously in the set without their opponent's permission. (Dave's Stupid Rule)
6. The winner of the previous game chooses their character.
7. The loser of the previous game chooses their character.
8. Steps 5-7 are repeated as necessary.
