I wanna see Simon Belmont so we can complete the Captain N trio (Mega Man, Pit, & Simon)
This is the second reason why I support Simon Belmont.

The first reason is that I actually like Castlevania games. Super Castlevaina IV will always be my favorite Castlevania game of all time!

I really wonder why Sakurai held off on showing anyone on Friday.

I mean its still possible for Monday, but with as many potential characters as Pokemon could likely receive for Smash 4, there was no better time than now to reveal a Pokemon character.

Bomberman deserves to be in a Nintendo Fighting game NOW. I don't give a **** if he's owned by Konami.

I blame Wii Fit Trainer's ass... now we have to deal with crappy character suggestions this weekend.

I'll give you Snake, but Why Lucas and ROB?

2 Mother characters just seems like it's far too much. 1 Mother character, absolutely, they're extremely unique, but two.. just seems far too similar. I've been told that Sakurai wanted to replace Ness with "Mother 3 (Lucas)" character for Melee but couldn't due to the delay. Why there are two in Melee, I can't say, but they just don't seem unique enough to each be their own character. Beyond that, the franchise rotates, unlike another arguably over-represented franchise like Star Fox, which leads to little character development over time, making the specific characters hard to stand out from one another.
R.OB. something just doesn't feel right about him, to me. Going back a hundred pages can see my posts regarding R.O.B., but he just seems like out of all the characters that would be cut (I feel like we can expect some cuts,) he's one of the top contenders. Having R.O.B. feels kinda like having Diskun. It just doesn't feel right. Though, of course, R.O.B. is actually capable of doing stuff, unlike some floppy disk.

It increases the longevity of the game and keeps it fresh.
...How=??? Unlocking things in Smash is super easy. I had every stage and character unlocked in Brawl by the end of Day 2. In Melee, I had every character unlocked in 4 days. In Smash 64, I had every character unlocked in a week.

Having hidden characters literally added nothing but a dull process of jumping through loops for it. Games should be fun, not chores.
The way the industry is going is "pay to play". Micro transactions for new features and whatnot. Unlocking things through playing gives a sense of reward and a want to continue to play to see if you can get anything.
How the heck does that relate to games like King of Fighter=???

DLC could just as easily be in Smash Bros. as in other games. Also, not all DLC is bad. Look at the forthcoming Ultra Street Fighter IV. Now that's some awesome additions.
If they remove the unlocking characters feature, the game loses its entire casual fanbase, because thats a large part of why they play.
 ...what the hell does this even mean=???

Who the hell plays smash to unlock stuff=???

People play Smash because it's fun to play. It's as simple as that.

Enough of this "x franchise characters" bulls***. That's not a part of the roster selection, so stop it.

THE ONLY THING CHARACTERS REPRESENT IS THEMSELVES!!!

If you don't know that, then you know nothing.
but two.. just seems far too similar. .
Mario and Captain Falcon are more alike than Ness and Lucas.

Being a Spyro fan I would've loved to see the version of Spyro in "The Legend of Spyro" in Smash. (I'd hate the "Skyladners" version to get in though) Obviously I don't expect him in any future Smash games or find him likely, and his chance is near zero.

Mind games. It appears Jigglypuff might be revealed on Monday, judging by how the Wii Fit Trainer is sleeping.
I'm wondering, are there any support threads for either Simon or Bomberman?
Yes and yes.

There's a sticky'd character thread that lists every character support group.

The fun part of the game is actually beating it. You know, completing objectives, unlocking characters, bringing in new content. People play smash cuz its fun, ya, but why is it fun? Because theres a sense of reward for playing. Theres a reason to continue. There was a reason why I completed adventure with every character before I quit. That "what if I missed something?" Feeling is why I completed everything, and had a blast doing it.

For the record, the most memorable part of Smash for me is the "challenger approaching" screen. Im sure others would agree.

I hope R.O.B. gets a new move where it shoots Diskun out of its new floppy disk drive on its chest. :troll:

Sakurai's mindgames are getting pretty annoying. First with the Pyrosphere, and now with Pokemon.

I'd rather it just go away, sans the single-player, or at least be an option.

It's gone from Street Fighter, gone from Tekken, gone from Soul Calibur, gone from King of Fighter... why can't it go away for Smash=???

I think it should stay forever. Most especially in smash. Only because yeah it's gone away, only in the most recent of those series, and has been replaced with DLC.

SFIV Vanilla first came out and characters as well as colors and taunts you have to unlock, even in the most recent SSFIVAE2012, you have to unlock the taunts and colors. However in all of them you have to buy outfits for the characters
Soul Calibur has a robust CAS mode, which could do with some extra fighters IMO, but alot of the stuff to make your own created fighter, you have to buy.
KOFXII has three downloadable characters, then again SNK shouldn't really be mentioned at all IMO as well. They haven't been doing as well in recent years, though i'm just salty at them [and capcom] for not making as many fighters.

It's not just fighters in these games, but little things like artwork, costumes, and extra modes that you unlock. The flipside is that the devs will still add all of it but as DLC, which they've been doing, so it's not even a question of IF. I'd rather have it as unlockables since it's always going to be there anyway.

Going back to 64 and Melee, "Challenger approaching" (without knowing how to get them, not looking up the caqst online, and not being the most capable Smasher, being 8 or 9 and all,) was the most rewarding thing that Smash has ever given me, or one of the most frustrating if I lost the fight All-in-all, it was one of the most memorable things.

People play Smash because it's fun to play. It's as simple as that.
What people find "fun to play" may differ from what you find "fun to play." Personally, I find unlocking characters, stages, trophies, beating personal HRC/event/target records, and etc. extremely fun. I used to spend so hours getting to 999 coins then playing the lottery machine to 0 coins in Melee.

Enough of this "x franchise characters" bulls***. That's not a part of the roster selection, so stop it.

Mario and Captain Falcon are more alike than Ness and Lucas.
-[citation needed] for "it's not part of the roster selection." I'll be the first to admit that I think it would be, but not that it's objective.

-Yes, characters represent themselves, but what is "themselves?" What is Mario? The turtle-stomping princess-saving can-do-it-all plumber. What is Pit? The heroic angel boy who can save errybody. What is Ness? The boy with PSI powers who can defeat evil (or Mr. Saturns.) What is Ness? The boy with PSI powers who can defeat... oh wait, that's the same thing. Why are we representing the same thing twice?

-Mario and Captain Falcon are hardly more alike than Ness & Lucas.

It doesn't feel right to you. That's what you think, to you. You said it yourself. And I'm going to need more than just that to be convinced R.O.B. is a likely cut.

I'd hope it'd be implied that my post was "what I think."

Lucas and Ness, despite have the same FS and sharing 3 of 4 specials are pretty different, Change 5 of Lucas' moves and he's his own character, I think 2 MOTHER characters are fine and it should stay that way. As for ROB he's way to important to Nintendo's history to be cut and got a lot of spotlight in the SSE, I can only see ROB being cut due to lack of time but even then there are characters who would be cut before he is.

R.O.B. has played a good role in Nintendo's history, it saved Nintendo's butt during the Video Game Crash of 1983, and though it wasn't that popular, it had continued to appear in later Nintendo games. And if you ask me, R.O.B.'s moveset if just fine, and if it really needs to be revamped, then Sakurai will revamp it's moveset.

And Toad, too... showing a picture of Peach's Toad and then saying Peach's moveset "may be refreshed"... most people know that the most common logical fallacy argument against Toad is that Toad cannot be playable if he is part of Peach's moveset and that Peach's moveset will have to be changed in order to let Toad be playable...

I tend to care less about moveset or playstyle similarities as I do conceptual similarities. Moveset and playstyle is important in high-level play, but casual play.. it'd be more what it "looks like" as opposed to what the frame/hitbox data says.

Hell smash even gave you games. Games inside of games!

might I ask why?
also since ROB actually physically existed, isn't he larger than everyone
This was mentioned in a few above posts.

It's importance to Nintendo's history is far greater than that of Wii Fit Trainer's, adding WFT and removing R.O.B. makes absolutely no sense to me.
