Shine 2016, New England's premiere event, will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U online qualifier tournament, the first of its kind.
In preparation for the offline event on August 26 - 28, the qualifiers will determine a single person from the North American (USA/Canada) region who will receive a full ride to the event. This includes round-trip plane tickets, housing, tournament fees and a custom hoodie by SmashGG. Runners-up will also get consolation prizes in the form of merchandise and if they choose to attend the event, their venue costs will be waived.
August 6, a Saturday, marks the start of the 5-day affair. Each day from then until August 9 will contain their own 512-man capped bracket, which will be trimmed down to the top 12 each at by the day's end. All of the top 48 will then compete for the top spot on the last day, August 10.
Entries to the qualifiers have already reached the 226-man mark. Notable entries include EVO champion Elliot "Ally" Carroza-Oyarce and Dacota "DMG | Ryuga" James.
