Like I promised, here is my moveset idea for Gallade. This moveset is supposed to combine Gallade's sword fighting with physical fighting and psychic powers such as teleporting to make him more unique for a sword fighter.

Basic Animations:

Entrance: Gallade is released out of a Pokeball and does his entrance animation from Pokemon Platinum/Heartgold/Soulsilver. Another idea for an entrance animation is that he teleports from the air and lands in a knightly manner, but the teleport would be more generic unlike Mewtwo’s.

Neutral Stance: Gallade stands like he does in the sixth generation games, but more aligned to his Mega Evolution stance (a.k.a, slightly bends his knees more). Much like Mario, Ryu, and Greninja’s neutral stances, Gallade’s front will always face towards the camera regardless of which side he is facing.

Walk: He walks exactly like he does in Pokemon Battle Revolution, but a bit faster with slightly bigger steps. His walk speed is between Pit/Dark Pit's and Link/Mii Swordfighter’s walk speeds.

Dash: His dashing animation matches that of Pokemon Battle Revolution (a.k.a, looks like normal running). Unlike in the actual Pokemon games, his running speed is relatively fast, in between Bowser’s and Marth/Lucina’s running speeds to b exact.

Jump: Gallade performs a generic-looking jump into the air, and his double jump is a generic flip for added height. Both jumps have a solid height to them.

Fall: His falling animation looks similar to his his from the final leap after jumping from tree to tree in the 10th Pokemon movie. His falling speed is between Zero Suit Samus/Mii Brawler’s and Meta Knight’s falling speeds.

Helpless: Gallade’s body is slightly curled while looking down with his arms and legs bent.

Crouch: Gallade kneels with one knee with both of his hands touching the ground. He does not have a crawling animation.

Shield: Gallade extends the blade on one of his elbows and tries to cover most of his body using it.

Roll: Gallade levitates around the opponent similar to Mewtwo’s rolling animation.

Side-step: Gallade steps behind the stage and moves his arm (with the elbow blade extended) over his body.

Dizzy: He stumbles from left to right while holding his head.

Sleep: He lies flat on the ground and uses one of his arms as if it were a pillow.

Idle animations:
  • Gallade does one of his generic animations from the sixth generation games where he moves one of his arms over his head and extends the blade on the elbow.
  • Gallade does his attack animation from Pokemon Battle Revolution when you are selecting a move.
  • Gallade bends lower than he normally does as he extends the blades of his elbow. He moves his arms towards his back so that the two blades touch each other.
Swimming: Gallade swims with breast-stroke arms.

Drowning: His about-to-drown animation matches the other fighters’ said animation, and when he drowns, it looks similar to other characters drowning animation (not like Lucario and Mewtwo’s drowning animations where they travel down the water headfirst).

KO Screams: His normal scream would be a simple “Guuuaaaa”, while his special scream (similar to Pit’s “I”m finished” scream) would be him saying his name but with a pained voice.

Screen KO: Gallade smashes onto the screen with one side of his face and both arms touching the screen while his legs are behind him but still visible.

Star KO Scream: Gallade would scream “Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” with a fading voice as he travels through the sky.

Basic Attacks:

Jab: Gallade performs a quick punch.

Double Jab: Gallade performs another quick punch with his other hand that is a bit stronger than the first.

Triple Jab: Gallade a quick swipe with one of the blades on his elbows.

Multi-Jab: Fury Cutter - Gallade slashes the opponent over and over with small but quick swipes with the blades on his elbows.

Dash Attack: Gallade lunges one of his elbow-bladed arms forward similar to one of his animated attacks his Mega Evolution uses in the sixth generation games.

Tilt Attacks:

Forward Tilt: Feint - Gallade performs a swipe that travels from side to side, similar to one of his attack animations from Pokemon Battle Revolution. This move acts as a shield-breaker since it hits through a shield twice similar to Ryu’s Collarbone Breaker. It’s because of this shield-breaking effect this attack is meant to be Feint from the games.

Up Tilt: False Swipe - Gallade performs a small swipe over him that creates a wind effect. This wind does a decent amount of damage for an up tilt and travels in an arc.

Down Tilt: Low Kick/Low Sweep - Gallade performs a weak but quick kick.

Aerial Attacks:

Neutral Aerial: Gallade spins around twice with both of his elbow blades extended and his arms straight out.

Forward Aerial: Gallade performs a psychic-powered slash in front of himself. It is one of his stronger aerial attacks.

Back Aerial: It is similar to his forward aerial, except he slashes backward and slightly turns his body when he does so. it is about as strong as his forward aerial.

Up Aerial: Gallade punches the air above him.

Down Aerial: Brick Break - Gallade moves his head towards the ground as he does a chopping motion with one of his arms. If this attack is used directly above an opponent, it has a meteor spike effect.

Grabs:

Pummel: Gallade performs a small, uppercutting punch at the opponent’s chest

Forward Throw: Dual Chop - Upon releasing the opponent, Gallade follows up with two slashes. The first slash is quick does 3% damage while the second slash is a tad bit longer and deals 6% damage. After the second slash, the opponent is launched at the same distance as Greninja’s forward throw is executed.

Back Throw: Aerial Ace - Gallade briefly traps the opponent using his psychic powers. He then performs a small somersault over the opponent, and as he is about to land, he performs a sudden stab using one of his elbow blades to damage and launch the opponent behind him.

Up Throw: Fire/Thunder/Ice Punch - Gallade performs a much more powerful, uppercutting punch that can have the effects of either fire, lightning, or ice at random.

Down Throw: Knock Off - Gallade uses his psychic powers to throw the opponent onto the ground. Then, he stomps on the opponent, launching the opponent diagonally forward. This stomp looks similar to one of his attack animations from his Mega Evolution in the sixth generation games.

Smash Attacks:

Side Smash: Leaf Blade - Gallade readies a powerful stab as his arm starts to glow a bright green. Once released, Gallade shuffles one step forward and stabs the opponent. There is a strong sweetspot at the peak of the blade; otherwise, the stab creates a duel-damaging effect that can still deal good damage and knockback for a side smash.

Up Smash: Night Slash - Gallade bends low with one of his arms held low in preparation for the slash. Once released, Gallade slashes upward as dark energy is emitted from his arm. The attack has a very powerful sweetspot at the peak of the blade. Otherwise, the slash will carry the opponent upwards, but its knockback will be weaker.

Down Smash: X-Scissor - Gallade puts both elbows over his face as he charges the smash attack. Once released, he slashes towards the ground in a X-fashion, dealing very powerful damage on both sides. Unlike the other two final smashes, it doesn’t have a sweetspot, but it is still a strong attack (not to mention a bit more original for a sword-user considering most of the sword-users’ down smashes in Smash 4 involve slashing the ground on one side and then following up with a slash to the other side.

Special Moveset:

Normal Special: Psycho Cut

This attack has two variants depending on your distance towards the opponent. In both versions, one of Gallade’s arms begins to emit a purple glow.

If Gallade is close to an opponent, he will slash the the opponent with a purple-glowing arm. If you press B again, Gallade’s other arm will glow purple and will slash the opponent with that arm while moving forward. Pressing B one more time will make Gallade move forward with one of his purple-glowing arms again, but this time, Gallade will strike the opponent with a powerful stab that temporarily freezes the opponent for one second before delivering strong knockback. You’ll need to press B rhythmically similar to Marth, Lucina, and Roy’s side specials, but here, it is easier to use since you don’t have to tilt the control stick at a certain direction.

If Gallade is far away from an opponent, he will move his arm like he does with the close-ranged version, except this time, a blade of Psychic-energy is released as a projectile that is roughly Gallade’s size. It travels the same distance and speed as Greninja’s uncharged Water Shurikens, though Gallade’s version is much strong and hits for 7% damage. This projectile is not chargeable, but it is still an excellent spacing tool.

  • Custom 1: Honed Psycho Cut - This variant has a much stronger close-ranged Psycho Cut where all the slashes do more damage. The final slash will also freeze the opponent for two seconds to highlight the increased strength. However, each performed-slash is slower than the normal version, so it is harder to rhythmically press the B button to achieve the final, powerful slash. When used as a projectile, the blade is smaller and does 2% damage but travels much faster and farther.
  • Custom 2: Ranged Psycho Cut - This variant has a weaker close-ranged Psycho Cut where each slash is performed very quickly and does less damage. The final slash doesn’t have the pause effect like the other two variants have, and you can easily achieve all three slashes by mashing the B button. The projectile, however, is much stronger, dealing 10% damage. However, it travels slower and has much less distance, traveling as far as a fully charged Water Shuriken (the blade also doesn’t have the trap effect like the other two versions do).

Side Special: Power-Up Punch

Gallade readies a punch similar to one of his Pokemon Battle Revolution animations, and as he does so, his fist becomes surrounded with an orange aura. This attack isn’t chargeable, and Gallade readies the punch very quickly. When finished, Gallade punches the opponent and moves a small but decently forward, making it solid for horizontal recovery. If Gallade uses the attack in succession and lands it on the opponent each time, the attack’s strength and knockback will increase.

  • Custom 1: Focus Punch - This variant works exactly like Ryu’s Focus Attack, except the animation is different from Ryu's. Gallade will ready the punch as long as Ryu prepares his attack, and the orange aura will grow much bigger. When he punches, the opponent will be stunned as he/she is briefly enveloped by an orange aura. Then, the opponent will collapse similar to the consequences of Ryu’s Focus Attack. You can also cancel the Focus Punch when Gallade prepares it similar to how you play Ryu in Smash Bros. Unfortunately, Focus Punch does not have the increasing damage that Power-Up Punch has.
  • Custom 2: Charged Power-Up Punch - This variant is similar to Ike’s Quick Draw since it is chargeable and can travel a certain distance. Here, by inputting the side special input and holding it, Gallade will charge the punch as the orange aura grows larger. The power of Gallade’s punch and the distance he will travel depends on the charge time. Unlike Ike’s Quick Draw, however, you cannot infinitely charge it. You can only charge the Brick Break for up to 2 seconds. Once time’s up, Gallade will immediately attack. The attack is also weaker than Ike’s side special and travels less of a distance at peak power. Like Focus Punch, it doesn’t have the increasing damage effect that Power-Up Punch has.
Up Special: Teleport

This move works differently from Mewtwo and Palutena’s up specials. Here, Gallade’s Teleport is similar to Pikachu and Greninja’s up specials where you can move up to two times, though Gallade’s version is just a tiny bit slower. As for the animation, Gallade will begin the attack by covering his face with one of his arms and slightly curl his body before quickly vanishing. You can control where you want Gallade to appear with the control stick. When he reappears, Gallade will further curl his body and use the other arm to further cover the face before disappearing. If you use the control stick to input a direction for the second time in a row, Gallade will teleport again. When he reappears again, he will attack with both blades in an X-fashion, launching affected opponents horizontally, before being rendered into his helpless animation. This is different from Pikachu and Greninja’s up specials since those two do not finish their recovery with some sort of strong attack. The X-attack is also relatively strong and can KO opponents at around 120%.

  • Custom 1: Ambushing Teleport - This variant works exactly like Meta Knight’s Dimensional Cape. Gallade will do his first teleport animation to start the attack. If you hold B while inputting a direction similar to Meta Knight’s down special, Gallade will go straight to his X-Scissor animation. Unlike the normal variant, the X-attack is much stronger. If you simply press B and don’t hold it after inputing a direction, Gallade will go into his second animation before the X-attack, ending the attack.
  • Custom 2: Swift Teleport - This variant is closer to Pikachu and Greninja’s up specials. Gallade will teleport much faster and farther than the other two variants, but he will not attack on the 2nd reappearance. He will execute the X-attack so fast that it will do no damage at all.

I will admit I did have a bit of a hard time coming up with an up special for Gallade. I wanted to go for something more original, but I had a trouble imaging a slash-based attack for recovery. The only real recovery option I could see for Gallade was Teleport (and it made sense considering I want to show his Psychic aspect to him), but I knew I had to make it less like Mewtwo and Palutena’s. Thus, I eventually settled with a blend of Pikachu/Greninja’s up special and Meta Knight’s down special to create an original spin. If anyone else creates a Gallade moveset, I’m especially interested to see what his/her ideas are for a bit more original up special for Gallade.


Down Special: Swords Dance

Gallade closes his eyes and readies the blades on his elbows as they emit a white glow. He then proceeds to move them around in a circular, hypnotic fashion similar to the scene from the anime when Zoey’s Gallade used it in the Grand Festival. As he moves his arms, a holographic image of a shiny, fancy-looking sword appears on both of Gallade’s sides each time he completes a circle. Gallade will move his arms in circles four times, which means the swords will appear four times. If you press B the moment the swords appear, the swords will appear much brighter than they normally do. Doing so will also increase the power of all of Gallade’s attack for up to 3 seconds with each successful button press. Thus, if you successfully press B at the right moments for all four times the swords appear and you are not interrupted during the duration of the attack, you can have more power in Gallade’s attacks for up to 12 seconds. When the attack finishes, Gallade pauses and opens his eyes as a faint psychic aura is emitted from his body with the “healing” sound accompanying it.

If you break your rhythmic pattern of pressing B or you are interrupted by an enemy’s attack, it will cut the attack short but can still the amount of seconds you will have increased power. For example, you managed to get two successful button presses, but by the third time, you are attacked; thus, you will have 6 seconds of delivering higher damage. It is also important to note that if you ruin your rhythmic pattern of pressing B at any point, Gallade will open his eyes automatically, but unlike when you successfully execute press B all four times, Gallade will have a saddened expression that looks a lot like a face he makes in Pokemon Amie if you don’t follow his head movements. You also cannot use this attack during your time of increased power. If you try to do so, Gallade will simply change into an animation where he stands perfectly straight and closes his eyes.

  • Custom 1: Quick Guard - It has the same animation as Swords Dance, but it does not have the effect of strengthening your attacks. He will also move his arms only once. Much like the normal variant, the holographic swords appear when he completes a circle with his arms (and he will only do so once; after that, he opens his eyes and returns back to normal), and if you press B when the circle completes, the swords will be brighter, Gallade opens his eyes, and a blast of psychic energy is released from his body that can reflect projectiles similar to Mario’s Cape.
  • Custom 2: Stored Power - It has the same animation as Swords Dance, but here, it works as a counter. Like Quick Guard, Gallade will close his eyes, expand the blades on his elbows as they glow white, and move his arms in a single circle, but the swords do not appear when the circle completes (and he will also open his swords. Unlike the other two variants, however, you don’t press the B button at the right moment here since this is a counter. When an attack hits Gallade during the animation, the holographic swords appear on both of Gallade’s sides as he automatically opens his eyes, initiating the counter. Then, a powerful blast of psychic energy is emitted from his body.

Final Smash: Mega Gallade - Close Combat

From his neutral stance, Gallade leans forward and performs a quick swipe with one of his elbow blades. The blade is extended and glows red, and as it swipes, the blade emits an added red effect that extends as far as the matt Greninja uses for his Final Smash. If no opponent is caught within Gallade’s blade or the added red effect, the attack automatically ends. However, if Gallade catches anyone within the range, the screen suddenly turns bright. A cinematic Final Smash is about to take place!

The opponent suddenly finds his/herself in the middle of a field of flowers that looks exactly like the battle location where you fought Wally in Pokemon OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire. The opponent suddenly turns around and notices Gallade Mega-Evolving in the distance. The scene changes as we zoom in on Gallade’s Mega Evolution. Once the process is complete, Gallade releases his cape to the side much like the same animation when Mega Evolving in OR/AS. He then dashes toward the opponent at blinding speed as he extends the blades on both his arms. Once he reaches the opponent, he proceeds to furiously slash the opponent with all his might as red, Psychic energy is emitted from each slash.

After about 3 second of slashing, Gallade performs a powerful uppercut that launches the opponent up to the sky. If there more than one opponents have been caught in the Final Smash, each opponent will find themselves beneath the other opponent in a stack formation. Gallade then teleports to the sky and proceeds to perform a kick that causes the opponent (or more) to bounce off the ground. Gallade then jumps very high, twirls, and performs a very powerful X-slash with both of his arms, finishing the cinematic attack as the opponent is launched incredibly far with very high damage (leading to OHKO most of the time); the final attack Gallade does is supposed to look similar to the final attack he uses in his Mega Evolution anime special. Once the attack finishes, Gallade reverts back to his normal form.

Taunts:
  1. He stands straight and puts both of his hips and makes a proud grunt. This is meant to match one of Mega Evolution animations.
  2. He mimics one of his Mega Evolution animations where his eyes turn angrier as he changes to a sort of “Fight Me!” stance while making a determined sound.
  3. He mimics his Diamond/Pearl entrance animation where he moves his arms in front of his body and extends the blades on his elbows before returning to his neutral stance.
Victory Animations:
  1. He performs three swipes as he moves towards the camera. He kneels down in a knightly fashion on the third swipe and stares at the camera with a heroic expression.
  2. He reaches both of his hands towards the sky as he closes his eyes. Once his wrists intersect, he moves his arms toward his left side. Once his arms are at the level of his head, he performs a slash and maintains that stance while staring at the camera.
  3. He bows towards the camera with one arm behind his back and the other in front of him. Upon finishing the bow, he stares at the camera with a smile on his face. If you look closely, you can see that he is holding Wally’s Mega Pendant from Pokemon OmegaRuby/Alpha Sapphire. Yes, this victory animation and his Final Smash is supposed to hint that this is Wally’s Gallade that is fighting in Smash Bros (similar to how it is hinted that the Smash Bros Lucario is the one from the 8th Pokemon movie).
For his losing animation, he claps with both hands in front of him with a happy expression on his face.

One idea I had for his victory theme, aside from a snipet of the Pokemon main theme, would be a small sample from Wally’s battle music in Victory Road. For those who want a listen, you can watch it below. It's pretty epic, and it would further hint that the Gallade in Smash Bros is Wally's Gallade.

On second thought, typing up this moveset made me feel inspired to create a separate support thread for Gallade. However, I don't think I'll create that thread right away. For now, I want to see how much support will Gallade have on this thread, as well as how many more people want Gallade for Smash Bros when his day in Rate Their Chances thread comes up (which is happening very soon). Then, I could create the thread. For now, I'll use this thread as sort of a "preview" where I will share all of my ideas relating to Gallade and Smash Bros. Once the timing feels right, I can create the thread. Again, I'm not entirely sure whether or not a separate support thread for Gallade will happen, but in the situation that I do, I will be sure to link it here on this thread so that you can add it to your main post as a sort of reference point to show that I still support the idea of adding a few more Pokemon to the roster.

Side Smash: Leaf Blade - Gallade readies a powerful stab as his arm starts to glow a bright green. Once released, Gallade shuffles one step forward and stabs the opponent. There is a strong sweetspot at the peak of the blade; otherwise, the stab creates a duel-damaging effect that can still deal good damage and knockback for a side smash.

Up Smash: Night Slash - Gallade bends low with one of his arms held low in preparation for the slash. Once released, Gallade slashes upward as dark energy is emitted from his arm. The attack has a very powerful sweetspot at the peak of the blade. Otherwise, the slash will carry the opponent upwards, but its knockback will be weaker.

Down Smash: X-Scissor - Gallade puts both elbows over his face as he charges the smash attack. Once released, he slashes towards the ground in a X-fashion, dealing very powerful damage on both sides. Unlike the other two final smashes, it doesn’t have a sweetspot, but it is still a strong attack (not to mention a bit more original for a sword-user considering most of the sword-users’ down smashes in Smash 4 involve slashing the ground on one side and then following up with a slash to the other side.

Special Moveset:

Normal Special: Psycho Cut

This attack has two variants depending on your distance towards the opponent. In both versions, one of Gallade’s arms begins to emit a purple glow.

If Gallade is close to an opponent, he will slash the the opponent with a purple-glowing arm. If you press B again, Gallade’s other arm will glow purple and will slash the opponent with that arm while moving forward. Pressing B one more time will make Gallade move forward with one of his purple-glowing arms again, but this time, Gallade will strike the opponent with a powerful stab that temporarily freezes the opponent for one second before delivering strong knockback. You’ll need to press B rhythmically similar to Marth, Lucina, and Roy’s side specials, but here, it is easier to use since you don’t have to tilt the control stick at a certain direction.

If Gallade is far away from an opponent, he will move his arm like he does with the close-ranged version, except this time, a blade of Psychic-energy is released as a projectile that is roughly Gallade’s size. It travels the same distance and speed as Greninja’s uncharged Water Shurikens, though Gallade’s version is much strong and hits for 7% damage. This projectile is not chargeable, but it is still an excellent spacing tool.

  • Custom 1: Honed Psycho Cut - This variant has a much stronger close-ranged Psycho Cut where all the slashes do more damage. The final slash will also freeze the opponent for two seconds to highlight the increased strength. However, each performed-slash is slower than the normal version, so it is harder to rhythmically press the B button to achieve the final, powerful slash. When used as a projectile, the blade is smaller and does 2% damage but travels much faster and farther.
  • Custom 2: Ranged Psycho Cut - This variant has a weaker close-ranged Psycho Cut where each slash is performed very quickly and does less damage. The final slash doesn’t have the pause effect like the other two variants have, and you can easily achieve all three slashes by mashing the B button. The projectile, however, is much stronger, dealing 10% damage. However, it travels slower and has much less distance, traveling as far as a fully charged Water Shuriken (the blade also doesn’t have the trap effect like the other two versions do).

Side Special: Power-Up Punch

Gallade readies a punch similar to one of his Pokemon Battle Revolution animations, and as he does so, his fist becomes surrounded with an orange aura. This attack isn’t chargeable, and Gallade readies the punch very quickly. When finished, Gallade punches the opponent and moves a small but decently forward, making it solid for horizontal recovery. If Gallade uses the attack in succession and lands it on the opponent each time, the attack’s strength and knockback will increase.

  • Custom 1: Focus Punch - This variant works exactly like Ryu’s Focus Attack, except the animation is different from Ryu's. Gallade will ready the punch as long as Ryu prepares his attack, and the orange aura will grow much bigger. When he punches, the opponent will be stunned as he/she is briefly enveloped by an orange aura. Then, the opponent will collapse similar to the consequences of Ryu’s Focus Attack. You can also cancel the Focus Punch when Gallade prepares it similar to how you play Ryu in Smash Bros. Unfortunately, Focus Punch does not have the increasing damage that Power-Up Punch has.
  • Custom 2: Charged Power-Up Punch - This variant is similar to Ike’s Quick Draw since it is chargeable and can travel a certain distance. Here, by inputting the side special input and holding it, Gallade will charge the punch as the orange aura grows larger. The power of Gallade’s punch and the distance he will travel depends on the charge time. Unlike Ike’s Quick Draw, however, you cannot infinitely charge it. You can only charge the Brick Break for up to 2 seconds. Once time’s up, Gallade will immediately attack. The attack is also weaker than Ike’s side special and travels less of a distance at peak power. Like Focus Punch, it doesn’t have the increasing damage effect that Power-Up Punch has.
Up Special: Teleport

This move works differently from Mewtwo and Palutena’s up specials. Here, Gallade’s Teleport is similar to Pikachu and Greninja’s up specials where you can move up to two times, though Gallade’s version is just a tiny bit slower. As for the animation, Gallade will begin the attack by covering his face with one of his arms and slightly curl his body before quickly vanishing. You can control where you want Gallade to appear with the control stick. When he reappears, Gallade will further curl his body and use the other arm to further cover the face before disappearing. If you use the control stick to input a direction for the second time in a row, Gallade will teleport again. When he reappears again, he will attack with both blades in an X-fashion, launching affected opponents horizontally, before being rendered into his helpless animation. This is different from Pikachu and Greninja’s up specials since those two do not finish their recovery with some sort of strong attack. The X-attack is also relatively strong and can KO opponents at around 120%.

  • Custom 1: Ambushing Teleport - This variant works exactly like Meta Knight’s Dimensional Cape. Gallade will do his first teleport animation to start the attack. If you hold B while inputting a direction similar to Meta Knight’s down special, Gallade will go straight to his X-Scissor animation. Unlike the normal variant, the X-attack is much stronger. If you simply press B and don’t hold it after inputing a direction, Gallade will go into his second animation before the X-attack, ending the attack.
  • Custom 2: Swift Teleport - This variant is closer to Pikachu and Greninja’s up specials. Gallade will teleport much faster and farther than the other two variants, but he will not attack on the 2nd reappearance. He will execute the X-attack so fast that it will do no damage at all.

I will admit I did have a bit of a hard time coming up with an up special for Gallade. I wanted to go for something more original, but I had a trouble imaging a slash-based attack for recovery. The only real recovery option I could see for Gallade was Teleport (and it made sense considering I want to show his Psychic aspect to him), but I knew I had to make it less like Mewtwo and Palutena’s. Thus, I eventually settled with a blend of Pikachu/Greninja’s up special and Meta Knight’s down special to create an original spin. If anyone else creates a Gallade moveset, I’m especially interested to see what his/her ideas are for a bit more original up special for Gallade.


Down Special: Swords Dance

Gallade closes his eyes and readies the blades on his elbows as they emit a white glow. He then proceeds to move them around in a circular, hypnotic fashion similar to the scene from the anime when Zoey’s Gallade used it in the Grand Festival. As he moves his arms, a holographic image of a shiny, fancy-looking sword appears on both of Gallade’s sides each time he completes a circle. Gallade will move his arms in circles four times, which means the swords will appear four times. If you press B the moment the swords appear, the swords will appear much brighter than they normally do. Doing so will also increase the power of all of Gallade’s attack for up to 3 seconds with each successful button press. Thus, if you successfully press B at the right moments for all four times the swords appear and you are not interrupted during the duration of the attack, you can have more power in Gallade’s attacks for up to 12 seconds. When the attack finishes, Gallade pauses and opens his eyes as a faint psychic aura is emitted from his body with the “healing” sound accompanying it.

If you break your rhythmic pattern of pressing B or you are interrupted by an enemy’s attack, it will cut the attack short but can still the amount of seconds you will have increased power. For example, you managed to get two successful button presses, but by the third time, you are attacked; thus, you will have 6 seconds of delivering higher damage. It is also important to note that if you ruin your rhythmic pattern of pressing B at any point, Gallade will open his eyes automatically, but unlike when you successfully execute press B all four times, Gallade will have a saddened expression that looks a lot like a face he makes in Pokemon Amie if you don’t follow his head movements. You also cannot use this attack during your time of increased power. If you try to do so, Gallade will simply change into an animation where he stands perfectly straight and closes his eyes.

  • Custom 1: Quick Guard - It has the same animation as Swords Dance, but it does not have the effect of strengthening your attacks. He will also move his arms only once. Much like the normal variant, the holographic swords appear when he completes a circle with his arms (and he will only do so once; after that, he opens his eyes and returns back to normal), and if you press B when the circle completes, the swords will be brighter, Gallade opens his eyes, and a blast of psychic energy is released from his body that can reflect projectiles similar to Mario’s Cape.
  • Custom 2: Stored Power - It has the same animation as Swords Dance, but here, it works as a counter. Like Quick Guard, Gallade will close his eyes, expand the blades on his elbows as they glow white, and move his arms in a single circle, but the swords do not appear when the circle completes (and he will also open his swords. Unlike the other two variants, however, you don’t press the B button at the right moment here since this is a counter. When an attack hits Gallade during the animation, the holographic swords appear on both of Gallade’s sides as he automatically opens his eyes, initiating the counter. Then, a powerful blast of psychic energy is emitted from his body.

Final Smash: Mega Gallade - Close Combat

From his neutral stance, Gallade leans forward and performs a quick swipe with one of his elbow blades. The blade is extended and glows red, and as it swipes, the blade emits an added red effect that extends as far as the matt Greninja uses for his Final Smash. If no opponent is caught within Gallade’s blade or the added red effect, the attack automatically ends. However, if Gallade catches anyone within the range, the screen suddenly turns bright. A cinematic Final Smash is about to take place!

The opponent suddenly finds his/herself in the middle of a field of flowers that looks exactly like the battle location where you fought Wally in Pokemon OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire. The opponent suddenly turns around and notices Gallade Mega-Evolving in the distance. The scene changes as we zoom in on Gallade’s Mega Evolution. Once the process is complete, Gallade releases his cape to the side much like the same animation when Mega Evolving in OR/AS. He then dashes toward the opponent at blinding speed as he extends the blades on both his arms. Once he reaches the opponent, he proceeds to furiously slash the opponent with all his might as red, Psychic energy is emitted from each slash.

After about 3 second of slashing, Gallade performs a powerful uppercut that launches the opponent up to the sky. If there more than one opponents have been caught in the Final Smash, each opponent will find themselves beneath the other opponent in a stack formation. Gallade then teleports to the sky and proceeds to perform a kick that causes the opponent (or more) to bounce off the ground. Gallade then jumps very high, twirls, and performs a very powerful X-slash with both of his arms, finishing the cinematic attack as the opponent is launched incredibly far with very high damage (leading to OHKO most of the time); the final attack Gallade does is supposed to look similar to the final attack he uses in his Mega Evolution anime special. Once the attack finishes, Gallade reverts back to his normal form.

Taunts:
  1. He stands straight and puts both of his hips and makes a proud grunt. This is meant to match one of Mega Evolution animations.
  2. He mimics one of his Mega Evolution animations where his eyes turn angrier as he changes to a sort of “Fight Me!” stance while making a determined sound.
  3. He mimics his Diamond/Pearl entrance animation where he moves his arms in front of his body and extends the blades on his elbows before returning to his neutral stance.
Victory Animations:
  1. He performs three swipes as he moves towards the camera. He kneels down in a knightly fashion on the third swipe and stares at the camera with a heroic expression.
  2. He reaches both of his hands towards the sky as he closes his eyes. Once his wrists intersect, he moves his arms toward his left side. Once his arms are at the level of his head, he performs a slash and maintains that stance while staring at the camera.
  3. He bows towards the camera with one arm behind his back and the other in front of him. Upon finishing the bow, he stares at the camera with a smile on his face. If you look closely, you can see that he is holding Wally’s Mega Pendant from Pokemon OmegaRuby/Alpha Sapphire. Yes, this victory animation and his Final Smash is supposed to hint that this is Wally’s Gallade that is fighting in Smash Bros (similar to how it is hinted that the Smash Bros Lucario is the one from the 8th Pokemon movie).
For his losing animation, he claps with both hands in front of him with a happy expression on his face.

One idea I had for his victory theme, aside from a snipet of the Pokemon main theme, would be a small sample from Wally’s battle music in Victory Road. For those who want a listen, you can watch it below. It's pretty epic, and it would further hint that the Gallade in Smash Bros is Wally's Gallade.

On second thought, typing up this moveset made me feel inspired to create a separate support thread for Gallade. However, I don't think I'll create that thread right away. For now, I want to see how much support will Gallade have on this thread, as well as how many more people want Gallade for Smash Bros when his day in Rate Their Chances thread comes up (which is happening very soon). Then, I could create the thread. For now, I'll use this thread as sort of a "preview" where I will share all of my ideas relating to Gallade and Smash Bros. Once the timing feels right, I can create the thread. Again, I'm not entirely sure whether or not a separate support thread for Gallade will happen, but in the situation that I do, I will be sure to link it here on this thread so that you can add it to your main post as a sort of reference point to show that I still support the idea of adding a few more Pokemon to the roster.

At the beginning of the thread, Eevee was up there, but I later scrapped her over evolutionary complications in favor of Sylveon.
I think the idea of Riolu as a :4lucario: clone similar to :4marth:/:4lucina: is a very good idea.
One that will probably never happen, but you never know!
I know, but a Smasher can dream, right? He's always been a dream of mine :3

Personally my dream Pokemon for Smash is Weavile.
I would say Hawlucha, but for me, I'm more disappointed they chose Greninja as the Gen 6 newcomer over him.
The main reason Greninja was picked over the other Gen six candidates, which included him, Hawlucha, Delphox, Sylveon, and someone else, was only becuase of Greninja's popularity. Sadly, Chesnaught was never even considered. R.I.P. Chesnaught...

Greninja could not have been chosen due to popularity. He was picked before X/Y were even released.

That is true. It begs the question, then... Why him? He's Smash 4's biggest oddjob, and while having some off-the-beaten-path characters is good and all, Delphox, Sylveon, or even Hawlucha could have been better fitted to Smash than froggy over there.

Smash already having a Fire type and a Fighting type in the roster (assuming that Charizard and Lucario's inclusion had been decided before Greninja's) could have affected Delphox and Hawlucha's chances. Same could be said about Jigglypuff and Sylveon, but Jigglypuff doesn't actually use any Fairy moves...

BTW, is it confirmed that other considered Gen VI reps were Delphox, Sylveon, Hawlucha and "someone else"?

Gen VI actually had surprisingly many possibly candidates for Smash despite introducing only 68 (discounting the three event Pokemon that weren't introuduced until later) new Pokemon.

For example:
- Chesnaught
- Delphox
- Greninja
- Hawlucha
- Sylveon
- Pangoro
- Florges
- Malamar
- Aegislash
- Tyrantrum (though this one might be too big)
- Goodra

You know, all this hype about a Gen six rep, and oh how we need a Gen 3 rep, Sceptile it something, but how come none of us are giving a glance at Unova? Gen V? I'm going so far as to put MEINSHAO in in a few days.
It's Mienshao, not Meinshao.

I hate to be that guy but Unova's Pokemon were unremarkable for me.
The only ones I'd personally be interested to see (and barely) are Cinccino and Bisharp.
The ones I'm interested are Krookodile (my favorite Gen V Pokemon), Serperior and Galvantula.

The ones I'm interested are Krookodile (my favorite Gen V Pokemon), Serperior and Galvantula.
Mienshao. Sorry :\ Personally, Victini is my choice for Gen five, as she has a movie about her, but so do Reshi/Zek, but they're huge-butt dragons and are already stage bosses. Though Reshi would look cool on the battlefield, and they already have Charizard... It's worth a thought.

Honestly, it was pretty sad that the thread was apparently dead, there are so many good ideas here and it would have been a shame if they didn't ever see the light of day again. I'm happy that's not the case.

Moving on, any Pokemon you gentlemen and gentlewomen like but don't think would work well in Smash Bros? I personally like Regigigas and Kyogre a lot but I feel that they are way too large, not to mention Kyogre is deconfirmed. Another one that I like but don't feel would work in Smash is Breloom, and while it's got potential since it's a gen 3 fighting grass type, I think it would probably be pretty hard to balance a character that's key traits are being fast, stretching it's arms far beyond a normal distance and sending people to sleep via projectiles. Since those are it's key traits I don't think they'd really ever leave them out of the character, so I can only imagine Breloom ending up as absurdly broken :laugh:.

More Pokemon? Hawlucha would be a cool addition. A quick, nimble fighter with some wrestling moves.
