People teching Falco's shine on the ground?

I've seen it happen more than once, whether it be in a friendly of mine or a pro video online (haha, that rhymed).

Tthere's always been that occurance of a Falco who approaches and shines the opponent. The opponent who is shined somehow techs the shine or hits the ground instead of being rocketed into the air. Why is that? Is that just a case of good DI or something?

Hmm I'm not sure if that's the case, I actually believe that it's if you Smash DI into the ground right as you get shined you have the oppurtunity to tech it. It's hard to pull off it as a surefire counter but if you know you're going to get shined it's good to attempt it anyways.

Smash DIing into the ground won't do anything. Plus, a good counter would be to just JC shine twice.

Isn't that forbidden smash DI? Anyway, I guess it's just getting CCed and teching the hit.
