Making a thread here to find any changes on Mario. I'll update as people find any changes.

Try to have a viable comparison between 1.0.3 to 1.0.4.

---

-U-tilt's damage decreased from 6% to 5.5%

Some 1.03 damages for comparison.

All results are against another Mario. Stage is FD. Data is in training mode, with no vectoring. Add a few percent to kill ranges to allow for vectoring.

EDIT: I put the wrong Nair figures in. There was no buff, it was always 8% sweet, sorry about that. I fixed them there.

The first hit of jab is 1% stronger. down smash buffed by 1%. I think downtilt got nerfed by 2% unless im not sweetspotting it right. fully charged up smash is 1% stronger. downsmash is better all around. And its probably just me, but Mario feels heavier...which could be bad if people are using him to test the new patch changes.

Probably a pretty newbish question, but you guys think 1% changes make that much of a difference?
What if I said that half the reason Yoshi is so good in this game is because his damage per hit is really high? If each of Yoshi's attacks did 1% less (keeping knockback constant), he would not be top tier.

Especially on a character like Mario who has inherently good frame data, small damage increases are very noticeable when that's more momentum you get out of your pressure game.

@ Darrman Darrman Your stats were all done in training mode, correct?

Only if it has a snowball effect. So far I can only confirm U-tilt has been gimped in damage.

@ Numbre7 Numbre7 I'm not getting any differences in Jab. It's 2% > 2% > 4% for me.

I've been seeing a lot of claims that Mario's weight has been increased. I'll thoroughly test it.

Edit: Jab 1 does 2.5% damage. Jab 2 does 1.5%. Jab 3 seems to always do 4%.
-I'm not seeing any differences in Mario's weight.

Seems to me that a lot of his moves were either raised or lowered by .5%.

D-Throw to U-tilt still works but it's not considered a combo at 0%.

Seems alot of characters can land and shield before up tilt comes out after a down throw. and Im not sure if it means anything but im having trouble following up after an up throw at low percents.

I took a look at Mario's custom moves to see if they changed with the patch. Using the Mario custom move discussion thread as a basis for the comparisons, the moves appear unchanged in terms of damage output. Did Scalding FLUDD always have a damage output of approximately 9.55 (this is an average of 20 straight usages of the move, with all hits connecting)?

I'm pretty sure Scalding FLUDD did 10% damage straight pre-patch.

I'll be putting down all the new damage values after I'm settled in for the night.

Is it just me, or do the default fireballs have a stronger and more consistent bounce effect now?

Well, Mario got a system mechanic buff. Vertical vectoring influence has been tested and is confirmed to be gone. You know what THIS means right?

U-Throw low % combos have now been opened up. Enter at your own leisure...

Yeah, I'll see how much this helps once I can get my hands on a 3DS again...or just wait for someone to get the Wii U version.

Utilt doing 5% instead of 6% isn't exactly a full-blown nerf. Because knockback and damage dealt are connected, the new 5% Utilt will drop a bit more frequently at lower percents. However, at higher percents, linking Utilt into Uair will be made easier due to the knockback reduction. Not to mention, the removal of vectoring (at least up/down as it stands) will make hit-confirms after Utilt easier in general as well.

btw, if I remember correctly, sweetspotted Nair always did 8% and sourspot always did 5%. So this isn't new.

Basically, Mario's combo game looks like this now:

at 0: D-throw -> D-smash/Up-B

At 15-20: either attempt raw U-tilt -> stuff (I will test this and optimize it), or D-throw -> U-smash

It still makes me salty knowing that Luigi can do D-throw -> F-airx2 at 0 for like 24% or something.
