Mario has always been considered to be the balanced character of the Smash games; with both offensive and defensive capabilities. He had no particularly strong or weak traits. In Brawl, he was more of a beginner character that players can learn with it. The problem with him their is that he lacked finishers that could KO at reliably mid-high percents, and that his approach was below average.
