downloaded the homebrew-wifi version of 3.0 and it did not contain the private folder. When I loaded gecko, brawl loaded instead of P:M.
Why did it not work?

Did your zip come with a gameconfig.txt in the root? Is your SD card named something innocuous without spaces or special characters, and not "Project M"?

Edit: Or that would do it. You need a 2 GB or less card

I'm redownloading the files onto a 1GB card, and I will change the name.
Then I will get back to you (after I help my sister on her homework :( )

My SD is named "PROJECTM" and it came with a gameconfig. It still won't work.

I actually seem to have this same exact problem except my sd card is 2 GB.
Right now im trying to redo everything to see if i messed up along the way...

EDIT: Just finished double checking and no luck :( I'm still getting vBrawl

EDIT 2- I feel stupid i just noticed that the "projectm" folder has to be on the root of the sd I got it to work :)

Hey guys, I'm having trouble starting my 3.0 version up
I've downloaded the "homebrew" version from the site and placed the zip file the way it is on the root of my SD Card.
My SD card is named "SDMMC" no spaces or forward slashes anywhere
I've also deleted my old "pf" folder and placed the new "pf" folder in that I received from the zip version of the homebrew download.
Everytime I start Gecko, it still reads project M 2.6 and when Gecko runs Brawl, I literaly get into the Brawl version of the game not the 3.0 version of the game. What am I doing wrong exactly?

Make sure you delete EVERYTHING from whatever version you were using before 3.0.

Then put EVERYTHING in the .zip straight to the SD card. Don't mess with the file directories or anything.
