I was thinking more in a theoretical situation like: first round I pick falco, and my opponent picks fox, I take the first game and they CP my Falco with Jiggs, so I would take them to yoshi's (assuming no ban) and CP YL. It could catch someone off guard, i dunno. It might be a side project that would be better to take up after I get better at the game in general.i would say suck it up and learn the tough matchups....but thats coming from an IC player. its never a bad thing to have a second. i mean really in tournys if u pick ur main and u lose u can change to ur 2nd but then if u win the 2nd match then they choose who to counter with.
so really if they have good exp against ur 2nd with a counter of their own then its a mute point. learning matchups with ur main is the best. again tho...coming from an IC >.<
Well I have the problem that I've heard a lot of newer Falco's have, and that's when a match starts, I kinda just go ape **** with lazers and moving around the stage, without any sort of real idea when to go in. seeing as All Jiggs really has to do is land either one grab, or snag a well placed back air near the edge and I lose a stock, I'm usually too scared to get anywhere near her. Another problem I'm going to have is that I have zero Marth experience, though for a short while I tried switching to Marth as a main. Anyway the few times I played a Marth (Zinth) I found myself getting grabbed, down thrown, and gimped, or chain grabbed with U-Throws.. Oh right, I'm getting off topic, Jiggs is gay.as someone who plays too many characters i would still agree with josh. the only time i would recommend using a secondary is if the matchup with your main is a hard counter, or if you are already comfortable with a matchup from previous experience. for instance, in my short stint as a samus main, i still pocketed sheik for sheik dittos because samus v sheik is terribad and i wasn't comfortable with the matchup. as for the latter, if you "mained" someone else as a casual player or before your current main, you may still feel like your ability to handle a certain character with that old main is higher, or even just could be higher with some practice...since falco has like 0 hard counters, but peach and jiggs are annoying enough playing as falco that i would say the latter reason still justifies it if you can't or don't feel comfortable altering your playstyle so much as you have to do for those matchups.
Well that was sorta the goal I had in mind, because all Jiggs players wanna do is camp until you run into their Back air, I would play a character that would force them to play a way that may be uncomfortable for them. It's only really useful having those aces in your pocket if you develop them to being diehard ____ counters. Otherwise, it's useless to pursue playing multiple characters.
Also I'm coming back to Oklahoma on Monday-ish. At that day, I need to talk to JAMS people (BRYAN!!!! You need to help me out on this).
if thats a real issue you have then what i would first suggest is stage control. it sounds simple but its something that can take alot of practice to understand at times. if your character has a crappy as recovery, the you always wanna focus on being in the middle of the stage. the edge is like a teammate.Well I have the problem that I've heard a lot of newer Falco's have, and that's when a match starts, I kinda just go ape **** with lazers and moving around the stage, without any sort of real idea when to go in. seeing as All Jiggs really has to do is land either one grab, or snag a well placed back air near the edge and I lose a stock, I'm usually too scared to get anywhere near her. This is true, what I've noticed happening in my games is that I'll camp with lasers in the middle of the stage, while my opponent sits near the edge, then when they get close, I get closer and closer to the edge until I realize I'm running out of places to run. I think I just sort of lack a pressure game with falco outside of lasers, which is what makes the character good really. I guess I really need to work on that too.if thats a real issue you have then what i would first suggest is stage control. it sounds simple but its something that can take alot of practice to understand at times. if your character has a crappy as recovery, the you always wanna focus on being in the middle of the stage. the edge is like a teammate.
whenever your being pressured, always stay focused on the stage presence. never go behind them always step back or jump back or w/e. always good practice to not let your opp. get control of the stage
