Greetings.

I'm officially taking the reins as the leader in all things Pit. I have at least partly helped to shape pit and I've spent most of my Project M time practicing and trying to perfect pit and learn everything I can. So I'd like to use this as a platform to share my character-related wisdom and hopefully set some hopeful Pit's on the right path.

Now, to prevent the thread from being closed I'd like to ask that all questions asked are related to the topic and character. Feel free to ask questions about Tactics, Specific match-ups, Advice, and/or stage selections in relation to Pit.

Well, Have at it. :)

Okay I've got 2 questions for you.

1. Falco. What are some general tips on the matchup?

2. What are the main ways you get kills (besides gimps)? Like what are some good setups and whatnot?

TBH, I hate that so many people are making "Ask *insert player here* about *insert character here*" threads. There aren't nearly enough results to determine who we should be consulting for advice. At this point it really is a group effort.

Having said that, if we ask anybody for advice it should be Armada.

Why did you change your name? Spam_Arrows was much more fitting. :b
Because I have my own theme music.

Okay I've got 2 questions for you.

1. Falco. What are some general tips on the matchup?

2. What are the main ways you get kills (besides gimps)? Like what are some good setups and whatnot?

1. the general Idea of anyone vs Falco is to get him off stage. Pit's Glide + Multi-jumps make kill falco off stage somewhat cake. You can powershield or use Down-B from a distance to take away his lasers control. Full Hop-fast falling is your friends in this MU. I feel Falco still wins the SH Aerial game because his lasers really help him set up his offence. While he SH lasers and looks to get in, Try creating distance and Full Hop-Aim arrows down on Falco. If you start to get the better of the projectile game the falco might start full hopping. Glide under them and Zair, Fair, Nair, Dair, Uair...whatever is appropriate. when you do get close in proximity you have chain-grabs at low and mid % with the Dthrow. The Uthrow can lead into Aerials and if you want to put Falco high above you while he's still at lower % a well placed Usmash will do the trick. Fair, and Nair can chain into one another and carry him off stage. There's alot to it but those are just general things that come to mind. If you want some in depth specifics or you want me to explain somethings I've said here please ask.

2. Not counting Gimps. Put Can kill with his Dsmash, Usmash, Fsmash, Dtilt(edgeguard) Bair, Ftilt, Dash attack(at higher %) Sweetspot Dair, Sweetspot-upB and sometimes his DownB if you reverse someone's recovery. As for his set ups into those moves it depends really on what characters you are playing against and if they fast fall or float. Setting up kills with tilts, Smash attacks...etc are kind of self explained. As for his Dair you can Ken combo into it or Arrrow Dair depending on %. The Dthrow, Dtilt on stage, Dash attack, Uair, Utilt, Usmash and Uthrow are all moves you can use to lead into Pit's UpB which hits with devastating power.

Hope it helps.

@Little England Armada is a good melee player but he himself stated that he doesn't focus on the game.

"My experience with PM is not many hours at all. I tried to focus on PM the day before the tournament because I knew Leffen/others had much more experience and I tried to understand Pit good enough to win." ~Armada
I was one of a handful who focused on trying to develop Pit in 2.1 Here's a collection of what I came up with so far.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uW8WdVnASds

Now, I'm not claiming to be the only one who developed him and I will welcome any of the other handfuls of pit specialists to assist me in helping people gain an understanding of pit and hopefully guide them into becoming solid pit mains. It's a tough job...but someone has to do it.

And my point still stands lol. You do know Armada won that tournament over Leffen and Fuzzyness (probably two of the best P:M players in Europe)?

Don't jump the gun. Just take your time and learn.
I'm well aware that he wont that tournament. I just think you are being a bit too fanatical in a sense. Alot of people who were never heard of in melee emerged as top PM players. Wizzyrobe, Metroid, Vro...etc. So, don't be so fast to judge.

fanatical...lol it's really not that serious.

all I'm saying is that this is the time for exploration, not "come to me for advice" threads. just my opinion. take it how you want.
I got what you are saying...I am still exploring but honestly not much to explore with me personally for pit except match-up vs new/slightly tweaked characters. I played Pit about the bulk of the time in 2.1 I only played Project M from it's release until November. I've learned a good amount on my own and I've also gained knowledge from those others who played the character. Again, I welcome anyone who wants to help...

If it's not clear enough my intentions are simply to share what I've already learned. It's not to say you can't learn something else, It's not to say that you won't find the same things exploring for yourself. I just see this as a chance to save new PM players or people just trying out pit the time by answering questions or giving advice so they don't have to go through 2-3 months of trying out things just to find out something I might already know.

I thought it was pretty well established that Archangel is the best Pit main (besides Armada).

I appreciate the defense guys but really I don't want this thread to get TOO far off topic and have it shut down.

Armada even said that Archangel was better than him (though this was a while ago).

As for ontopicness, let's talk about Pit's edgeguard game a bit. So far I can think of arrows, dtilt, dropzone bair, glide out to aerial (I propose we call this "glidezone"), and the glide turnaround edgehog, but what else can we do to offstage opponents?

Must say. I LOVE the glidezone. We'll have to be sure to expand on the definition and location of the glidezone but I like the idea.

What you listed are good. You can also use down angled ftilt, edgehog-ledge-hop Bair or Dair-dair-spike(double dip), Dsmash, and occasionally a Fsmash to edgeguard as well.

but yes..the reflector is perhaps among the most underused. Timed right it has invincibility and reflects everything.

Speaking of everything, I've been having trouble reflecting Fox/Falco illusion. I can reflect everything else but I feel like its impossible to reflect spacy side b.

You have to time it to perfection but it can be done. you don't have to reflect it though. You can just as easily jab, Ftilt them.

Oh. Well whenever I get a hard read of a spacy recovering with side b on stage, I usually just shoot an arrow aimed (where I think) the beginning of the illusion will be. That forces them to drop down and firefox. So then I just reflect that lol

My Pit brethen! It's glad to be apart of the "army". I feel Pit is such a strong character now, so many good tools, good options, it's amazing.

One thing I noticed in particular is: Notice how easy it is to land Up-B combos now? You can combo so many things into Up-B to get a kill it's awesome. Things like D-Tilt (on-stage) > Up-B, strong hit of arrows > Up-B (Up close or mid-range), grounded Dair > Up B, Glide attack > Up-B, it's really good, but really scary as well.

...I like it.

Well, Anyone who played Pit 2.1 and took the time to master the up-B sweetspot will likely feel the same way. It's like..the whole upB is a sweetspot now lol.

As a Peach main in Melee, the reason I'm attracted to Pit in Project M is because his glide feels a lot like Peaches float, although he doesn't get an auto-cancel when he does an aerial. I'm just now getting into the game and I haven't seen too many videos, but do most Pit players approach with the glide frequently, or is it mostly just used for edge-guarding/recovering?

His glide is one of his good approaches he has, you can use his glide attack (Hit Z while gliding) for a good combo starter, his aerials can be safe if you space them right on a shield, he has good mobility for running approaches as well. Personally for me, I just mix it up between his mobility options.

I'm gonna be entering the next Bowser's Revenge with all Pit, hopefully we'll have videos this time around.

Most pit's approach with glide but only as a mix up. The best time to approach is when the opponent is open for it or already on his heals (flying away in hit stun).

Depending on % You can Charge a smash attack, try to set her up with an up-B with Dtilt, Dair, falling Uair...etc.

I would personally Charge a smash attack because it's...safe. Trying anything fancy you might not get as much.

Instead of creating an over abundance of "Ask X" threads, let's all help each other grow Pit's metagame by moving discussion over to the Pit General Match-Ups Thread. With the game in such an early state, we're going to need all the help we can get! Any "ask X" posts can be made in the Pit General Discussion Thread.
