[Oct 17, 2014] GFC's first Smash 3ds tournament! (Jersey Village, TX)

GFC Toys is a figurine, Yu-Gi-Oh, and pokemon card shop. They host Smash tournaments for the community almost every week. There have been over a dozen Project M tournaments at this venue already. This is the very first of many Smash Bros. for 3ds tournaments at GFC Toys. It will be a singles only event, with custom moves allowed. . All equipment banned.


Date/Time:

October 17th, 2014.
Store hours: 4pm to 11pm
Casual play starts at 4pm.
Sign ups will begin at 6pm.
The tournament will start at 7pm.
GFC vs Dojo Crew battle: 9:30pm
Depending on the progress of the singles tournament we may either delay it or start it with the players still in bracket playing later in the crew battle.
The store owner has been notified and is willing to stay open past 11pm if the crew battle isn't finished by that time.

Payout for Singles:

1st=70%
2nd=30%
3rd=No venue fee next GFC 3ds tournament
4th=No venue fee next GFC 3ds tournament

If two players are tied at 5th place, then they will play a match, best 3 out of 5 for 4th place.
3DS Ruleset:
Mii's and custom moves are allowed, but both players are entitled to a full viewing and description of their opponent's custom moves. All custom equipment is banned.

Stage striking

  • Before the first game, each player takes turns banning. First ban is determined by RPS.
  • The player that banned second picks out of the last two remaining stages
  • If Final Destination is banned as a stage then any variation of Final Destination is also banned.
  • After the first set, the winner bans 2 stages then the loser picks where to go.
  • Dave’s Stupid Rule: A player may not counterpick any stage he won on in a set.

General Rules

  • All matches will be 3 stocks 8 minutes.
  • As previously stated, customs are allowed but players are entitled to be made fully aware of what the customs do, and are even entitled to a hand warmer showcasing the custom moves.
  • No modded 3DS's or 2DS's allowed. Modifications made on any 3DS are not allowed
  • Coaching is allowed only BETWEEN matches
  • Players can use the spectate mode to watch the match if you wish to.
  • Custom controls are allowed
  • No excessive stalling
  • If your red 3DS light comes on and you pause in the middle of a match to plug in your charger, that is a stock loss for you.
  • Both players must be sitting down at the table marked for their match once called
  • All matches are played with local wireless
  • Sets are best of 3, finals are best of 5
  • Gentleman's agreement, within reason both players can agree to rules outside of the tournament rules or even against the tourney rules.

• Note: All rules are subject to change at any time.

General:
We encourage all players to come with their 3ds fully charged and with their own charger just in case. Everyone is free to charge their 3ds but we don't want everyone to end up chained to the wall in the middle of the tourney.
