LOL AWESOME MOM! My mom is never interested and my dad only likes to play Wii Sports/ Bowling because he always wins... He almost always gets a strike... and then he has to rub it in every time, its pretty annoying, my mom played a bit because my dad insisted but she got tired of him too. XD

My aunt plays video games but she sucks, the last thing she did was play the most recent Call Of Duty with my cousin.

Wish my family would play Brawl with me. The only new game my mom has played is Wii Sports though she did play older games like Pac-Man and Tetris. When I was young she taught me how to get past this ditch hole I was stuck in Crash Bandicoot (I was like 5, I didn't know what I was doing). My dad only really plays first person shooters and multiplayer Mario games (like say Party or Sports games) with my and my sis though he's also played Splinter Cell, Metal Gear, and I even got him into Resident Evil 4. My little sister used to play Melee with me but now she's just boring as hell. Hasn't even touched Brawl since I got it.

I find this fascinating, like when I found out my girlfriend was into Final Fantasy and RPGs on an extremely deep, obsessive level. I mean, she was naming characters, their detailed roles in games, secrets...WHO ARE YOU?!

I have a question that's probably already been asked. What reasons did your mom Main Samus? Metroid fan? Girls sticking together? She though Samus kicked ass? Just a random occurance she decided to stick with?

My mom is weird. She hates smash bros., but my mom likes other nintendo games. She always plays through the latest Zelda or Mario at least once from start to finish. She LOVED Pikmin as well. Her true calling though, oddly enough, are trippy horror games. Her favorite games are from the Silent Hill and Fatal Frame franchises.

She played through the first Silent Hill EIGHT times and got THE BEST ranking. It was ridiculous.

LOL that's cool. My mom can't really stick to technology. She says she feels bad if she stays at the computer/plays a videogame too long. Not that she actually plays any videogames... but she did try some out.

Well, I'm just glad she's glad when I'm glad while playing. Oh, wait, let me reword that. As long as I'm happy with Brawl, she's happy with it. Even just watching. =D (Seriously though, Brawl is fun to play AND watch.)

This stinks....
my mom plays, but she says, just like everyone else in the family, that it's "POINTLESS! You win EVERY time."
It gets tiring.
But then, she comes up with "It's the SAME thing OVER and OVER again!"
And she's the one who plays puzzle games.
I get annoyed over the SAME color blocks.
And after I explain that the puzzle block games have less variety, she goes back to the "It's POINTLESS!" statement.

But she plays Wii Sports....
When she KNOWS that my sister has PINPOINT ACCURACY.

I disagree. We'll have experience they don't.
Agreed, we'll be able to say we were playing games since before they were born, and we have been. We won't be the ones that are iffy on playing video games, because we grew up with them. Granted, there will be some of us who didn't grow up with them, (I know one person whose parents never let them get a video game console) some who may not like them at all, but I guarantee you that anyone on a video game forum is probably not going to be like that, whether you grew up in the '80s or '90s (or even longer ago possibly), the fact remains that your parents will not be like you are with video games unless they are just as intense about them as you are.

When we who grew up with video games grow up, this kind of thread on a forum will probably be considered spam--it'll probably be old news, because most people's parents do so.

lol nice mom :p

My mom was never into videogames (she tryed mario party 5 once but that was like way back). Then theres my dad we used to compete (when I was 7) on who could get through Super mario world first.

One time he went so crazy on the castle (where those kameks keep shooting beams at you and teleport)that we missed school just watching him get through, he finally did it but it was to late to go to school so we stayed home all day :p.

Now adays my dad just complains about how games arent how they used to be (he like new super mario bros though hes like "now THIS is how a game should be made".Somtimes he will say play with your brother. But we still have fun playing through SMW (this time on VC).

Lol, my mom plays Mario Party series but thats about it, my dad will play SSBB though (and Mario Party). It took a lot of work to get them to like video games though, they used to like board games much more but now they think that they are boring compared to video games.

Thats mostly the case with me, Until, one fateful day, when I went to Gamestop. We were looking around when my mom saw wii fit. Bam, she bought it, and now I can hardly play SSBB. I think this may be the last time I will ever see her buy a video game. Even on my birthday, when she bought SSBB for me, she secretly took the money for it out of my bank account because "All videogames should be bought with your own money"

Oh wow! That's cool. You and your mom playing together, that's what I call bonding time. The only game my mom plays is Pac-Man (so fun watching her and she's not that bad last time I checked). Believe or not when I was younger my mom got an NES for....herself... Playing Super Mario Bros 3 all the time. She actually introduced me to video-games, how funny is that?

Lucky you. I pretty much got the Wii and Brawl with the intention of playing with my sister. But, being the game imbalance user that she was in Melee (Can anyone say "Marth"?), she refused to play after I told her her character's range had been reduced. (Oh well, she was a poor sport even in Melee, too.)

Video games are the solution to old people calling everyone they know and wasting 15 minutes of their lives. I'll be entertained until the day I die.

I thought this was gonna be some sort of "Your Mom" joke or something...

But yeah, my dad plays most of my multiplayer games with me, but my Mom won't play any. My Dad's actually beaten me in Smash, but I usually win. He also did the typical "Kick kid's butt at Wii Sports Bowling" thing. The only games my brother plays are the old pokemon games and Mario Kart 64 (as Peach o_O). Oh, and GTA Vice City, but he just drives around, don't think he does any story things.

Before anyone asks, no I did not force her to play video games with me, she actually approached me and asked me to teach her how to play because she wanted to do more fun stuff with me as a family.
I admit I went "awwww" reading that. This is the kind of stuff that sounds like science fiction to me (not in very good terms with mine. Or speaking terms for that matter, fortunately I live by myself). Your mother really knows how to be one, I really wish mine was like that. I'm happy for you. :)

Well, in 10 years or so, my kids will be saying the same thing about me. ^_^ Bwaha!

My mom played video games, but she was never technical enough for Brawl. She'd die whenever she'd see how many buttons there are. She is used to NES. ;)

Bahahaha. I could never get my mom to play SSBB.

She is OBSESSED with Mario Kart 64 though. That game was awesome. MarioKart Double Dash and MK Wii sucked so badly though. All the items got nerfed. The graphics were great, yeah, but the gameplay was CRUSHED.
