First, let me introduce myself. I'm Steel2nd, a lot of you may know me from the Marth boards. I've been assigned to help out in the moderation of the MK boards (may or may not be temporary). Despite my lack of participation in this board I know a lot about his metagame and will contribute wherever I can.

Anyway, I couldn't help but notice this board doesn't have one of these threads. A few rules will be in place, like all social threads:

1.) We are to only discuss things that pertain to META KNIGHT. This includes MK's metagame, MK gatherings at tournaments, etc.

2.) Minor trash talk is permitted, however don't let it get out of hand or you will receive warnings and/or infractions.

3.) If the thread gets TOO out of hand it will be locked for an undetermined set of time as a penalty.

4.) NO 10char dodging/censor dodging/trolling/spam etc etc you know the deal.

5.) Just don't be bad! This will be a fun thread to promote more activity on the board and get to know each other better. Again, no spam. Make sure it pertains to Meta Knight in some way. And don't give me any posts like "I just had the most AWESOME pancakes of my life.... uhh to keep it on topic Meta's mask is really cool."

Anyway, I've got a question for the MK mains out there (and I don't think this deserves its own thread, nor do I believe this is something for the Q&A thread, so I'm throwing it in here).

Assuming that MK remains the top character in Brawl in the future, do you feel that his future tournament representation will be a lot more, a lot less, or about the same as his representation is now? Why do you think so?

There's two future scenarios I can imagine:

1. A third or half of the good players play MK, and the rest only main characters that can beat him (Marth, Game & Watch)
2. He's banned

I think so because he's better than everyone else by a large margin.

I don't see high leveled Marths beating MK any time soon. You'd be better off with Wario, Snake and Diddy.

I think it will stay roughly the same, maybe a slight increase or decrease in MK usage, more likely an increase. He is better than everyone else but I don't think enough so that it will compel too many more people than already have to switch to him, I think most of the people who'd switch because they felt inadequate or that he was unfair already have, but certainly a few people still do that. He is the best choice as a solo character but this is not news, no one is just finding out now that MK is amazing...

I don't see high leveled Marths beating MK any time soon.

Disadvantaged matchup =/= impossible, and there are numerous examples of high level MK's losing to Marth's... although certainly wario, diddy, and snake are better choices(probably ice climbers too, at least, and maybe a few others...)

Also, I'd really like to see a hack of MK as The Spy from TF2. Probably should be the Red Spy so I can be in pornography starring your mother. I should go to the texture hack request thread and ask for that. Come to think of it I also requested a Doc Louis Wario, I need to check on the status of that.

Norfair is an amazing stage for MK. The platform layout is great for juggling into uair strings, your dsmash covers almost the whole platform, and you can just generally do a great job of controlling the stage. I play this all the time as MK even to this day if people don't ban it against me. It's definitely the best stage for Metaknight imo.

Of course most people who go on this stage with MK ignore all of what I just said and plank like ******s because, unfortunately, Norfair is a good stage for that too and it's usually banned for that exact reason.

But yeah, Steel2nd you shouldn't have creates this thread since it'll be a magnet for trolls like this mother****er.

Man, I wish Infinity and Deoxys were here so we could hijack this thread with Magic discussion like we did with the last one. Those were the days...

I don't really like these texture hacks either tbh. I like the wings on the first one but I pretty much don't like any other part of it or any other texture.

I think it was less of a "M2K is unfamiliar" and more of a "he did it to not get MK banned" I don know a guess, cause I watched the matches and even I knew not to put that much effort into killing nana, because doing that it's just like scoring 6 kills, cut off the head and the rest goes down with it, he should have separated them and focused on popo. He probably wasn't all game that day.

no. he did not sandbag at all. he was beaten by lain and ally, why cant people accept that? its an insult to M2K to think that he sandbagged at a 200+ person tourney. i dont even want to know how large of a difference the pot was for first and second. M2K was beaten fair and square.

That would be stupid Unclesam. It has not only been proven at time and time again that MK can be beaten, but it's said that MK is -officially- not banned. I would talk more about this, but I don't want it to be a flame war.

anyway, M2K wouldn't sandbag. There's no need to, especially at a tournament. I faced him before and he made sure he didn't take a stock off of him (seriously, he had 3 stocks and I had a hard time getting him over 80% XD).

As for matchup familiarity, idk how well M2K knows the ICs matchup but I seriously doubt there is any ICs more familiar with the MK matchup than lain. The only MKs he's lost to that I know of are teh_spammerer (at CoT4) and M2K (in losers finals of Apex). There probably have been more than that and if lain sees this I'm sure he'll correct me but those are the only two I can really remember.

So I played Brawl + for the first time tonight.

MK's Tornado doesn't give him any upward momentum at all due to the overall increased fall speed.

Good thing I never planned on playing MK in Brawl+. I think Wario would work a lot better.

I didn't try him out. Only characters I used were:

Dedede (for one game)
G&W (for a few games in doubles only)
Peach (for a few games in doubles and singles)
MK (for like 1 or 2 games in singles)

as for the people asking about how did lain beat m2k, well lain is mad good lol. 0 death every grab. just needs 3 grabs then.
but idk. m2k will step it up that day he wasnt at 100% he never sandbags any match but in our friednleis i was getting him to last stock, something i thought i would never ever do, probably had something on his mind

Frigate is a decent stage. I never really counterpick it though, I'm not sure who it would be good against. Maybe Diddy?

Also, out of curiosity, who did you guys main in Melee?
