Smash Journeyman
Thanks everyone for coming out! At exactly 100 entrants, this was a nice end to the series. When I started running tournaments at UNCC I wanted them to become something of this size- back then I assumed we would have to draw a lot of out of state attendance to do that, but then the scene exploded and this was able to happen with just NC (and a little SC). This event went very smoothly for the most part, being the first single game event in the series. Honestly I wish I'd dropped other games a lot sooner; the size of the scene now (and especially the crossover between PM and Melee) makes multi-game events heavily limited in their potential to grow.
After most of my previous tournaments I've acknowledged mistakes and things that could have been done better in the results thread. Just a couple things I can see worth criticizing after this one:
-Although we didn't run ridiculously late, we could have finished a lot sooner if I had been more proactive about planning the first wave of pools with players who weren't on high placing doubles teams. Pools could have started by the time doubles hit top 4, buying us an hour or so.
-I'd like to apologize to Zasa who got shafted on seeding. Having registered at the door at the last possible minute and still being a fairly new player, your name slipped through the cracks.
