Smash Journeyman
Apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong section of the forum. Now then.
I feel stuck. Like, really stuck. I've been trying to get into competitive Smash since 2010, and I cannot for the life of me seem to advance my game. Brawl, PM, Smash 4, doesn't matter the game. I spend hours looking up character strats and techs on Smash Wiki and here on the boards in hopes of receiving new information. But when it comes down to actually playing with other people, I have a really sloppy playstyle. I see openings where I can punish my opponent (like a smash attack's ending lag), I rush in to attack, and they always get their shield up first and punish me in turn. I think about mixing in grabs, I get read like an open book. I repeat moves and become predictable, I make unsafe decisions in the heat of the moment, and essentially, my only improvement has been in being able to take off two stocks from an opponent instead of just one...over the course of four years. I'd ask for critiques, but I lack reliable ways of recording matches. Should I just bring an SD Card with me and request to save replays? And how about on 3DS? I just really want to become a good Smash player; I can't give this game up because I love it too much. What do?
