Well friends, it's about time we had our second Game Play Smash tourney! It'll go similarly to how it did last time except we're going to be better prepared this time and there will be doubles for both Melee and Smash Wii U. It will be a $5 venue fee, and $10 per tournament entrance. Prize pools will be divided up between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place contestants of each tournament as 60%, 30%, and 10% of the prize pool money respectively. We will be going with EVO 2015 rule sets for both games. For more information click here: http://evo.shoryuken.com/additional-rules/ Look below the flyer for venue info. Tell your friends, tell your parents, tell your pets. Let's get the smash scene rolling and get even more people to come this tourney round. Also, there will be a free special event where the winner will receive a $25 Hot Topic gift card. VIva la Smash.

Edit(s):
Mewtwo will be playable.

Would there be a reduction in venue free if we brought a setup?
Yes. call the venue at the number provided to speak to Pat about it. It needs to be discussed cause we can't have 10+ people showing up with setups tryna get reduced venue prices, you know? Thanks for helping out!

Here are the Smash Wii U Singles and Doubles results (linked in that order):

http://smashboards.com/rankings/smash-wii-u-doubles-gpusa-2.6638/event
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to apologize to all of those who were inconvenienced by some of the hiccups at the event. The person who we allowed to arrange the brackets thoroughly messed them up, causing delays and confusion. That sort of catastrophe won't repeat itself, and he will never touch a bracket at a tournament we host ever again. Thank you for coming out and enjoying some Smash. We hope to see you all in the future.

Do you have the melee singles/doubles results by any chance as well? Thanks for these!

So we won't be able to post Melee (Singles or Doubles) standings because the brackets were too severely messed up. We apologize and realize this is an inconvenience to you all. We will not allow this to happen again, and we will be making sure only adequate staff will touch the brackets, or any other crucial part of the tournament.

My humblest apologies to you all. We're serious on our intent to breathe life into the Springfield Smash scene, and we'll continue until we can meet that goal. Thank you for your patience, support, and attendance. <3

gaaaaaaaaaaaah, I really wanted to know what I got in melee, but I agree if the bracket was so severely screwed. Thanks for all your effort! Keep it up!

Hi Everyone, this is Pat from GPUSA and I wanted to make a quick post to apologize and confirm a few things that occurred during our tournament last week.

Bracketing - Melee Singles & WiiU Doubles were put into challonge but the person who made the brackets never selected "double elimination" even after making the initial mistake he managed to create the same issue again. Due to this we ran both tournament loser brackets off of paper and we cannot find the paperwork that was used for these events. If we do stumble upon them we will post them and mail them to RedPanda immediately. As was stated in a previous post - the person who was running the onsite brackets will not be assisting us in any future tournaments due to repeat mistakes that caused our event to run ~2-3 hours longer than planned.

Stream - We had it up! This was a small victory for us however it appears twitch.tv didn't record nor did the laptop. We're currently talking with a few people who were at the last event that have setups they could bring and allow us to focus purely on everyones tournament experience.

Venue - We're going to do a pre-registration for our next event and we will be adding a "pot bonus". Depending on how pre-registration goes we may only be able to do a store credit "pot bonus" but we would very much like to do cash.

Lastly - I had talked to some at the tournament but was not able to make the announcement but we WILL be doing a Fight Night starting the 2nd week of July. It will start at 3PM and run until 11PM for only $5 entry fee. SMASH will have at least 4 stations and we're going to have a very large variety of games to play for all 8 hours this event goes on. Thank you again to everyone who came- we cannot wait to host another event and make our events much better for the smash community.
