Melee Player Looking for Character Advice

So I just picked up a Wii U to try out Smash 4. I mained Marth in Melee, and the Marth in Sm4sh feels way to heavy and slow. What is the most Melee-like character in Sm4sh and what are some of the general tech skills for that character I need to pick up to be successful in this game?

Sheik is definitely the most "Melee-esque" character. Fast, agile, little landing lag, great perfect pivot (Smash 4 equivalent to wavedahsing), combo-oriented, the whole lot.

So if I were to go all in as a Sheik main, what tech skills would require my most immediate attention to put myself in a better position to play competitively? Is the Perfect Pivot just the same as Pivot grabbing/fsmashing in melee? Can you even JC grab in Sm4sh?

You can jump cancel grab in addition to jump canceling smash attacks and item throws. Perfect Pivoting, Ledge Trumping, Jump Cancelled Tossing, Pivot Dashing, Ledge Sliding and for Shiek (and other Melee esc characters like Zero Suit Samus, Diddy Kong, and Captain Falcon) Ledge Cancelling are all very important to learn for pressure, spacing, and general speed of movement and play. You'll be able to find guides on how to do all of these on youtube. Hopefully these and other gameplay examples will help you get your start. Shiek isn't the only melee esc viable main in this game, Fox may be another character you're familiar with who's good in this game and has heavy comboing ability.
