What's up everyone--

This tournament is the community's first chance to get a taste of Hitbox Arena, a competitive gaming center in North Jersey dedicated to providing the best space possible for Smash tournaments and other awesome games. Pictures, a website, and more coming shortly. Unfortunately, I'll be at Get On My Level in Toronto this weekend, so I won't be there to host or stream this tournament, but this is a preliminary, short-notice event to invite people to get familiar with the venue. My TOing partner and the venue owner, Johnny, will be there hosting with his son Patrick, who is also staff for the tournament/venue. I will, however, be there for our Smash Grand Opening on May 24th! Find that here: https://www.facebook.com/events/871242519557704/ or here: http://smashboards.com/threads/may-...ena-melee-brawl-project-m-kinnelon-nj.354183/

ADDRESS:

25 Kinnelon Road
Kinnelon, NJ 07405

---

Currently, we have 8 full CRT Melee/Brawl/PM setups. If people brought more, it could be helpful, and we're always gradually acquiring more. We're working on getting 100% lagless monitors that look beautiful.

This tournament will feature Project M singles and doubles, Brawl three stock doubles, and Brawl one stock singles.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER!

ENTRY:

  • Venue fee: $5
  • Brawl/Project M doubles entry: $10 per player
  • Brawl/Project M singles entry: $10

---

SCHEDULE:

  • Venue Opening: 11 AM (please do not come any earlier!)
  • Registration: 12 PM
  • Brawl Doubles: 1 PM
  • Brawl Singles: 3 PM
  • Project M Doubles: 5 PM
  • Project M Singles: 7 PM

---

RULES (Brawl):

1 stock, 3 minute time limit. Sets are best three out of five, best four out of seven for winners/losers/grand finals.

All items set to off and none

Random dash-induced tripping is disabled via SD card codes. No other gameplay changes are included.

Either player may call for a double blind character selection for the first match.

Controller ports are decided by rock paper scissors if no agreement is reached.

If the game is paused, the player who did not pause the game may choose to make the player who paused the game lose a stock. Gameplay resumes normally afterward.

Quitting out of a match before it is over will result in a loss for the player who quit.

If time runs out, the player who is winning by percent damage is declared the victor. In the case of a stock and percent tie, a 1 stock 3 minute match will be played with the same characters and stage.

If a match goes to sudden death due to a suicide move, the player who initiated the move is declared the victor.

Custom controls are allowed, controllers with performance-enhancing modifications such as turbo buttons are not. Modifications that do not explicitly alter performance, such as swapped analog sticks or springless shoulder buttons, are allowed.

In the event of a game crash or power outage, the set count remains the same as prior to the crash, and the match that was being played is restarted with the same characters and stage. If a player intentionally initiates a game crash via glitch, he/she takes a game loss.

Mid-match coaching is allowed if both players have only one coach each. Pre-match coaching or consultation is unrestricted.

In the event that a game goes to time, if a player has grabbed the edge more than eight times, that player receives a game loss. If both players have grabbed the edge more than eight times, the player with the lower percent damage is declared the victor.

----

Stage list and match procedure:

1. Prior to the first game of the set, players take turns striking starter stages (in a 1-2-2-1 fashion) until one stage remains. Game 1 is played on that stage.

2. At the end of game 1, the winner announces their stage ban for the set. Neither player can choose that stage for the remainder of the set.

3. The loser announces their counterpick stage.

4. The loser announces their character for the next match. The winner of the previous game may not change characters.

5. The match is played.

Steps 3-5 repeat until one player has won three games (four in winners/losers/grand finals).

Is this tournament on the 10th or the 24th? Or are there two tournaments on those two dates?
