Matchup Chart Project 2015 - Calling Lucina Mains!

Hello Lucina boards,

I'm Zareidriel. Over in this thread a guy called Assassannerr made a matchup chart, and asked people to help fill it out. It seems like it would be a cool thing to have. With once glance you could have a rough idea of a matchup. It won't be perfect, but for our first go at it in 2015 we're aiming for "somewhat functional."

So here's what I'm going to do. Go to every Character Discussion board, and ask the folks there if they wouldn't mind contributing. To submit one vote, you'll have to fill out one of these:

Mark each character with a - for a match where Lucina HAS THE DISADVANTAGE
Mark each character with a number 0 for a match you feel is very even.

NOTE THAT I AM ONLY TAKING VOTES FROM MEMBERS WITH Lucina IN THEIR PROFILE BAR. It can be as either "Wii U Main" or "3DS Main". But if Lucina is in neither one of those slots when I count the votes on Friday, Nov 13, it won't be counted.

(Yes, for the avid democrats out there, that means you can vote for one other character as well.)

Like I said, they won't be perfect, and each board will probably be a little biased toward their own respective character. But the results should be interesting regardless.

If this thing is successful maybe we'll do a revised version in 2016.

Marth is Top row Lucina is bottom row, and this is just my opinion... Green is Favorable, Yellow is relatively even, Red is unfavorable.

Edited in Paint, i don't claim to be an expert and i look forward to exploring more matchups in depth, but i do have over 5,000 matches with MarthxLucina and after careful deliberation this was my result. DLC characters, would be nice if they were added too...

I will explain some of the MUs here

Little Mac: Winning the MU is basically throw offstage > gimp > rinse and repeat, but a good Little Mac will never give us that luxury. He will be more than happy to play footsies and attempt to negate our range advantage with super armor if we approach poorly. Of course he also kills earlier than us as well.

Link: Link's grapple game is just nuts. In the air we will often lose because of his disjoints. However Link's frame data is meh and that is something we can capitalize on, so a good spotdodge will allow us to find a way in. Offstage counters on Link's Up B are his kryptonite when used properly despite its risk.

Ganondorf: After playing this MU often on both sides, I honestly believe it is even. Ganon has huge damage at a range that rivals ours, and that F-tilt is a real bummer for us. Good Ganons will punish every mistake. He's also a deceptively slow faller. His weakness of being easily gimped remains however, so we've got that at least.

Lucas: He is very difficult to edgeguard due to his specials having transcendent priority and strange hitboxes. PK Fire spam can make the MU seem like hell but it really isn't; his gimps aren't all too impressive and he lacks range outside his tether. Beware of his smashes, they hurt a ton but are easy counter kills

I want to comment on the Sonic MU in particular - I feel this is a great MU for Lucina. A well-timed fair basically stuffs everything he has, his kill setups are super predictable and easily avoidable, and he's the perfect weight for us to build damage with DB from 0 to mid percents. Definitely our best high-tier MU.

I don't see that at all.. A good Sonic isn't going to let you get any opportunity to initiate offensive momentum. I can't even see that Mu being any better than 60/40 in Sonic's favor. I have been forced into extreme defense by the speed and mixups, and this takes away from the greatest Strengths of Marth and Lucina. No opportunity for a punish game, and spacing is done according to Sonic's pace. I'd rather face a good ZSS than a good Sonic. Granted most Sonic's or ZSS's do not play to their characters potential, but in competitive play the Sonic MU is almost hopeless for us IMO.

I guess i just don't have the match experience against good Sonic's because im lost when it comes to trying to punish their game. I have a better chance against Shiek/ZSS. Granted i am not a Tournament player yet either, never have been, but am interested one of these days.

A lot of people seem to think it's a poor matchup for Lucina but I have a decent amount of experience with it and I've always found it to be a good one.
