Loosen a GCN Controller's Left Stick?

Not exactly sure where to post this, so any moderators should feel free to move this to an appropriate place.

So my main controller broke and now I'm resorting to a backup. The only problem with the backup is that the stick is too tight for my preference. Is there a way I could loosen the stick on the backup? Perhaps replace the backups stick with the broken controller stick? Need some help!

From my experience, playing more generally helps. Perhaps play some game where you have to rotate the control stick a lot? Like doing spin-jumps in Super Mario Galaxy, perhaps?

Using it more will help it loosen up.

Try and just rotating more on it's own for a bit and keep doing that to help it be more rotatable.
