Hey guys, I was wondering. How about we try to break up the Super Smash Brothers Official Characters and potential characters in different groups to help us classify how they play.

I will start:

Zoner - Character whose strength lies in forcing their opponent to stay in a certain area. Ex: :4marth:

Ranger - Character whose strength lies in their ranged attacks to force opponents to keep their distance. Ex: :4link:

Speedster - Character whose strength lies in their speed and ability to overwhelm their opponents with relentless attacks. Ex: :4pikachu:

Trickster - Character whose strength lies in a quirky moveset that is hard to predict and can alter the battle field. Ex: :4villager:

Bruiser - Character whose strength lies in devastating attacks to quickly finish off opponents. Ex: :4falcon:

Resistor - Character whose strength lies in super armor that allows them to tank hits to strike down opponents. Ex: :4bowser:

Puppeteer - Character whose strength lies in overwhelming opponents with relentless attacks stopping opponents from striking back. Strength in numbers. Ex: :rosalina:

Juggler - Character whose strength lies in being able to string combos together to finish off opponents. Ex: :4luigi:

There would be hybrid characters in this list. Ex: Speedy Trickster :4diddy:

What character types (including the characters in them) should be moved, removed, renamed, definition changed?

This Character Type Mechanic will help us classify characters in different categories to get better understandings of character Matchups and how each character majorly plays.

Character supporters of Newcomers, even those not announced yet, are welcome to discuss where their character would fit.

One thing I don't know why isn't in smash is a thing I liked in kirby air ride.

Why they don't explain the playstyle of a character in one sentence? Like it's annoying to have to go to training to figure it out. There's a sense of type but they should explain it in some way.

That is what I am hoping this list accomplishes, plus it will help players with character matchups.

Zoning- character who tries to use projectiles to control space and make approaches ex.:mewtwopm: or :4dedede:

Puppet- character that uses another character for various set ups such as unblockables or bigger combos ex.:rosalina: or :4olimar:

Keep Away-character that uses projectiles to keep as much distance away from the enemy as possible ex. :4zelda: or :4megaman:

Rush Down-Character that uses high mobility to get up close to their enemy as possible and uses quick attacks to put large pressure on their enemy. ex.:4sheik: or :foxmelee:

Brawler-Character who is effective on the ground but not so effective in the air. ex.:4littlemac:

Tank-Character who has high strength and high defense but often slow in various regards. Also known as a brute character.ex:ganondorf: or :bowser2:

Jack of all trades-Character that excels in no category but also has no flaws in any category. A master of none. ex.:mario2:

Grappler-Character that uses grabs as their preferred method of attacking. ex.:4dk:

Juggler-Characters that try to keep their opponents in the air as much as possible in order to limit their opponents options ex:wolf:

Offense Character-characters that have no distinctive play style but cater more towards offensive play to an extent.

Defensive Character-Characters that have no distinctive play style but cater towards defensive play to an extent.

Chip characters-Characters that use attacks on enemies that deal good damage despite their opponent blocking. Due to smash having a different block system then most traditional fighting games, there are no chip characters. However, these characters can still exist if there is a character that often utilizes attacks that are effective at wearing down shields.
