Answers underlined. Personally,I think it's sick that nothing was learned from this scene. "Bullies of the world: Grow up. You need to take a step off, because you too might be killed." That's what my 9 year old cousin told me, which I do NOT appriciate.

Better bring a barrel, We'll teach'em a lesson, :dk: style.

EDIT: Wait, the bully had friends? I did not know this... I'm done here, then. Carry on. *walks off*
i was gonna say
as a fourteen year old theres only so much he could do

compared to a seventeen year old
that had friends with him

also he showed the boy the knife and told him to leave him alone on the bus
then tried to leave again

his class mates asked him several times to fight
he said no
IDK that seems like very sound judgement
as for telling he had a policeman escort him to school
im not sure about yall but i don't have to be escorted to my classes

for no reason...

if he told
that only puts him in protection within the confines of the school enviroment
in with the bully can find openings to take action for him telling

added on to the fact
that the kids came there to watch
accountability has to be spread out a little more in this situation.
the bus driver should have taken action too

this was a break of the moment
the kid felt threatened
no way out
it was a fight or flight situation in his young mind and the flight option was being voided

so he had to defend himself ( albeit not the best ending)
now he could have taken the beating
and ended up seriously hurt
or killed
...

and jim that link show how disgusting the lower pieces of humanity really are
hopefully that kid will find justice

I dunno, this seems like it could have been premeditated...If I remember the article correctly, the kid was showing the knife off to his friends on the bus, correct?

Also, if you consider the average pocket knife...it would be pretty difficult, after being attacked, to find the time to fiddle around and take out the blade, which leads me to believe that the blade was already taken out. Who walks around with a pocket knife with the blade out? I dunno.

I agree with the courts decision, but still the details of the situation make me wonder if maybe this kid got away with a "planned" murder. (as in I'm going to walk around with this knife blade out and stab anyone who tries to mess with me aka this one guy who keeps messing with me)

When you know that you're being physically assaulted by people, it's called protection. He got off the bus early specifically to avoid a fight at his stop that would involve him. When he saw the thugs get off the bus early to follow him he probably pulled it out early just incase. Even when he was hit in the back of the head he still tried to get away before stabbing the kid. It was a last resort to stop the thug and his friends beating the pulp out of him.

Someone who is being pursued by multiple assailants, one of which already punched them in the back of the head?

Also at around this time Saveedra reiterated several times that with or without the knife he had no desire to engage in altercation with Nuno.

In other words, somebody who is planning on stabbing somebody before an altercation takes place.
Nuno already punched him in the back of the head. Saveedra was retreating and was engaged again and then the stabbing took place during this second altercation. Read the articles and the thread.

or hell, the post you just replied to.

Getting punched in the back of the head is potentially lethal in itself (as I've said before, people have died from less and it is banned in MMA for a reason), and you seem to be implying that after this punch there still was no altercation taking place? at what point is someone allowed to defend themselves? after two punches? after three?

That maybe he got away with a planned murder? It's not like any of us were there and know what happened down to the last minor detail.

Stranger things have happened.

Frotaz, do you think that the cops didn't check his home, his computer, his notebooks for any signs of planning it, not to mention talking with friends and schoolmates for any sign of it being a 'planned murder'?

There is no evidence in the slightest that it was 'planned' other than having a knife on him for self defence, which he only used after avodiing a fight, getting punched in the back of the head, then trying to walk away from it a second time.

You are the one with the horrible posts, not the guy who's using his brain.

Wait so, you can't plan a murder unless you write it down or tell people about it? That's a laugh.

Also, when did I say that there was evidence that it was planned? All I said is that it's possible that this could have been planned, which is completely true.

So yeah again, you've been tricked by Luigitoilets bad posting into thinking that I'm arguing a point I'm not arguing.

What are you trying to say? I swear man.

If SOPA passes, I'm reporting smashboards just so your bad posting stops.
I'm saying that you presumed that he was walking around with his knife open before he was assaulted by Nuno.

And then you went around and said "we weren't there, we don't know all of the details"

which is true, for sure...but can we at least go by what the reports say? He was punched, retreated and pursued again and then the stabbing occurred. Why do you have to make some conjecture about walking around with his knife open as if he was waiting for the first passing bully to stab* when all the reports indicate that he was avoiding the confrontation in all ways possible including RUNNING AWAY?

It's very possible the kid planned beforehand to kill Nuno, but I'd rather discuss what the articles and reports are telling us. They might not be the actual complete truth of what happens, but it's the closest we have for the sake of debate, which apparently you aren't interested in. You're more interested in vague victim blaming conjecture and flaming me I guess.

*"as in 'I'm going to walk around with this knife blade out and stab anyone who tries to mess with me aka this one guy who keeps messing with me"

Because it's possible? You're treating my posts as if I'm saying "____ HAPPENED" when I think I've made it pretty damn clear that I don't have all the details because I wasn't there.
Oh and guess what? These "reports" you're talking about were also made by people who weren't there.
Yeah, they're just reporters who have gotten information directly from the police.

He stabbed the guy 12 times in different places... How is that innocent?

One stab would've probably scared him off already, and if THAT was the cause of death I'd agree. But 12 stabs is just blind rage. Yes, he was under attack but if he truly didn't want to fight he would only stab him once, and run away. I don't think the bully would have been able to attack him after that.

But I won't judge. Seems like a pretty ****ed up situation.

That's the point, it is. He's been harrased, threatened, followed, tormented, hit, chased and then snapped. IT's not intentional stabbings, it's complete loss of mental capabilities.

its adrenaline on both ends
in a fight you might get hit HARD and might not realize how much the ****s hurt till the next day
the bully had him pinned and in a flash once he stabbed him various times he ran
12 stabs can happen in mere seconds because of the moment
and two of them were to fatal points
not saying that the other were negligible but he continued to fight
it was ignorance

Some of you guys need some assistance.

"After Saavedra got off the bus and started walking to a friend’s house, Nuno punched Saavedra from behind, Brodie said.

Saavedra kept walking to avoid the fight but “Dylan Nuno started throwing punches again to the back of his head” while Nuno’s friends yelled, “‘get him, hit him harder,’” the judge said.

Finally, “Saavedra testified that he began to get lightheaded. He felt that his life was being threatened and thought the other boys might be joining in,” Brodie said.

That is when Saavedra “reached in his pocket, bent forward and stabbed Dylan with a knife as the punches continued,” the judge said.

But “even after that, he heard Dylan telling his friends, ‘go get him,’” Brodie said.

it's not exactly like Saaveedra was carving into Nuno like a turkey or that Nuno was incapacitated after one stab.

I stand corrected. By all 3 of you. It's always bad to see how bullying can effect someone...

I don't think Jorge should've gotten any charges. He was clearly acting out of self-defense and I would imagine he would have tried to get as much help as he could from parents or teachers. My only concern is that he actually brought a knife TO SCHOOL. That's a little fishy and seems like it was premeditated to me. Regardless, the bully was the first one to make an approach and clearly stepped over the line.
At that age, that kind of rage is hard to control. 12 stabs was more than what was needed to kill the bully, but at that point I don't think he even knew what he was doing.
Like I said before, taking the knife still seems like it was premeditated. Completely against school policy. Why would you randomly take a knife to school?
I think the kid should get some counseling, however. Maybe an anger management class. What he did wasn't 100% justified but charges/juvie don't seem appropriate.

Or more than likely he knew he was going to get attacked. While carrying a weapon is a bad thing he didn't try to use it, he tried to avoid the situation entirely, and only used it as a last resort against someone that attacked him.

My ego...It's OVER 9000!
I don't think anybody was arguing that Saveedra is not in need of severe counselling. In fact, the poster that Mic was responding to was arguing that counselling for Saveedra would actively prevent Nuno from bullying him which is simply untrue.
I never said that. Ever.

Nor did I say that Saavedra's alternatives that I explained were only for the purpose of avoiding Nuno.

I'm pretty sure that's the site's fault. Sometimes it glitches and you accidentally double post. Either way, you should've just PM'ed Luigitoilet rather than unnecessarily bumping this thread.

What's the difference between blind rage and regular rage? Is it just the chance for rehabilitation? Doesn't seem like a popular opinion that it's okay to dictate punishment based on the advancement of medical technology regarding treatment of their particular affect.

It seems like this kid is prone to killing people. That's not acceptable to the rest of us. I think he should be locked up until adulthood. Is it okay to kill someone for punching you?
