Smash Ace
Forgive me, this a long post. And there are a lot of videos. Also, a lot of this may be old because these video are from 2006, but I'm sure some people haven't seen them so...bear with me I guess
If you only have time for the absolute tiny point of this post, just scroll down, I'll type it since I know not everyone has as much free time as I do
So after watching the new combo video for Mach Dash (JP Capt. Falcon, VERY skilled) I decided to look up who that IC player he faced was. And with no more then 2 minutes of looking I found some videos. (If you only want to watch one, pick either of the CF matches)
Kei (IC) vs. Mach Dash (CF) 1

Kei (IC) vs. Mach Dash (CF) 2

Kei (IC) vs. Shu (Sheik) 1

Kei (IC) vs. Shu (Sheik) 2

What I saw that I liked about Kei's style was he edgeguard. While I'll admit he used it a little to much, the idea is amazing, something I don't remember seeing before.
For those who didn't watch the videos (or can't for whatever reason) he gets as close to the edge as he can (facing away) shields, up-b (so nana does, basically, a short hopped up-b) and edgeguards, while he still controls popo above the ledge in they don't sweet spot. The timing is strict to get it to work, but I love it. He also had some pretty legit overall combos.
Another find for me was this IC player, Walk. (If you can only watch one, either the 2nd Marth match or the Fox match, preferably the Marth)
Walk (IC) vs. Kizzu (Marth) 1

Walk (IC) vs. Kizzu (Marth) 2

Walk (IC) vs. Kizzu (Marth) 3

Walk (IC) vs. Kizzu (Fox)

What I loved most in these was def. in the 2nd match against Kizzu. At one point, Nana grabs Marth, but Walk does a SHDair with Popo. Nana did a Dthrow so it essentially worked and a Dair CG, because he then follows up with Popo and continues the CG.
Anyway, I don't think either of them main the IC's (I think Kei mains Peach and Walk mains Fox) but there were really solid ideas and some clever tactics/desynchs. I wish there were some way to get in touch with JP smashes more often, get some chat between their IC players and ours and see what we share and how we differ. Overall, I just thought this was cool because before now I had only seen Domo's IC's and, outside of a 90% desynch strat, he wasn't to impressive. It makes me curious about who the best IC player in Japan is and how good he/she is.
THIS IS THE GIST OF MY POST
Basically, the edgeguard Kei did was backing up to the ledge, shield, up-b (which desynchs Nana, causing a SH Up-B) and then Nana grabs the ledge, leaving Popo free to smash the person if they don't sweetspot (if they do, Nana has the edge) Main problem: risky, harsh timing. As for what Walk did, if Nana grabs, considering the guessing game in your favor. Nana did a Dthrow, Walk did a SHDair, l-canceled and proceeded to grab the Marth and continue the Dair CG. Simply epic
Anyway, I apologize if this is all very old and boring, and if it is, well, my bad. For those who stuck with me, read this all and found it interesting/helpful, thanks. I really appreciate it.
