Invite your friends. Do you have what it takes to beat the best in Wichita? Come prove yourselves here!

Location: Headshots Bar and Grill
6140 E 21st St N, Wichita, KS
Number: 316-260-4370
https://www.facebook.com/HeadshotsWichita
Headshots Bar and Grill is located on the Northwest corner of 21st and Woodlawn, in the strip mall with the Lava Lounge, Subway, Spangles, Big Lots, and Speedy Cash.
Please do not bring outside food; order food from the restaurant instead. Do be sure to take care of your wait staff, as they work especially hard to take care of you.

Tournament Schedule
Schedule of Events (all in Central Daylight Time)
Get ready for a somewhat fast-paced tournament, so when you hear your name called, respond promptly.
Registration for each event will end promptly 15 min before the event starts.
02:00 PM = Doors open. Registration Begins.
03:00 PM = Sm4sh U Singles Begins.
12:00 Midnight = Exit the venue. The owner is very strict about people underage being in this establishment, as they do serve alcoholic beverages.
Please be punctual at this tournament and play your matches when it is your turn to play them. I will NOT hesitate to disqualify you if you're twelve (12) minutes late.
Please be here on time. Please be here on time. Please be here on time.

Fees/Events:
Sm4sh U 1v1: $10
I doubt we will have enough time for doubles, but if you really want to do doubles, then I suppose I can make an exception.
Sm4sh U 2v2: $10 per team ($5 per person)
No refunds! It messes up the pot amount.

Please bring Wii U's and a copy of Super Smash Brothers for Wii U, as we have only one or two setups that are guaranteed for this venue. If you don't want the TO's to have a rough time due to a lack of setups, then get it right and bring Wii U's with Sm4sh!

RULES

[COLLAPSE="General Rules"]
  • Absolutely NO CUSSING in the restaurant, or the owner can throw you out.
  • 3 Stock.
  • 8 minute timer.
  • Items are set to "Off" and "None"
  • Tean attack is set to "On" (provided we do Doubles)
  • Matches are best of 3. Winners/Losers/Grand Finals are best of 5.
  • Controller port disputes will be resolved by Rock-Paper-Scissors or higher number with G&W's SideB.
  • First round stage will be determined by stage strike system, or a particular stage if agreed upon by both parties (Smashville is a popular game one stage).
  • No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
  • In teams matches one team will get ports 1 and 4, while the other team gets ports 2 and 3.
  • Make sure you fix your controller and your tag before you start playing. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
  • Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action.
  • [Time Limit] If the timer runs out, the winner of the game will be determined by the following criteria in this order: Stock and Percentage. If Stock is used to determine a winner, the highest number will win. If Percentage is used to determine a winner, the lowest number will win. If both Stock and Percentage are tied, Sudden Death won’t be used and a Tiebreaker Round will be played instead. In a Tiebreaker Round, stock will be set to 1, the timer will be set to 4 Minutes, and the same stage and characters must be used.
[/COLLAPSE]

[COLLAPSE="Specific Rules"]
  • No pausing a game without the other player's permission.
  • No use of an action that freezes a game, or otherwise disrupts standard gameplay.
  • Players may not intentionally manipulate a button, trigger, bumper, D-Pad, and/or joystick on a teammate’s controller while a game is in progress. Breaking this rule will result in a forfeit of the game.
  • [Stage Striking] 1. Players may request a blind pick of characters for the first game. Essentially, you tell a person/judge (without telling your opponent, lol) which character you're going to play as. After all players tell the judge their character, the judge will then have the players pick their characters simultaneously. If you can't remember, judge, then just write it down, lol.
    2. The player with the highest port (i.e. port 4) strikes first any stage off the list of starter stages, and the player with the lowest port strikes second the next two starter stages. In teams, the team with the highest port will strike first, and the team with the lowest port will strike second. The player/team with the highest port will strike the last stage of the remaining two starter stages.
    3. After the first game has been played, the winning player/team may announce up to three stages off the Starter/Counter-Pick Stage List to be banned for counterpicks of the set.
    4. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter-Pick Stage List not currently banned.
    5. The winner of the previous match chooses his/her character.
    6. The loser of the previous match chooses his/her character.
    7. Repeat steps 3-6 for all proceeding games until the set is complete.
[/COLLAPSE]

[COLLAPSE="Other Rules"]
  • MikeHaze rule: No yelling or making abrupt noises at your opponent. This applies to EVERYONE, players and spectators. Simply talking to the players (and Exodia moments) are exempt.
  • Chibo's Video-for-the-masses rule: You cannot refuse to be recorded if you pay money to enter an event.
  • Razer's No Coaching rule: Spectators may NOT coach/give advice to the players while they are playing a tournament game. In between games of a set is ok. (Err, this is a subject of fierce debate; present your case and I might ban coaching entirely.)
  • The Kyle rule: No hypin' Mr. Doom in an insane/hilarious way during Mr. Doom's hype matches. It makes him goof up and not take the match seriously. No johns.
[/COLLAPSE]

Stages

Starter:
Battlefield
Final Destination/Omega Battlefield (Omega Battlefield is offered as a less flashy and distracting alternative to FD for those who hate how pornographic the scenery gets.)
Smashville
Town and City
Duck Hunt

Counter-pick:
Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza
Halberd
Lylat Cruise
Kongo Jungle 64
Omega Boxing Ring (Walled Omega)
Omega Lylat (Evil Edge Omega)
Omega Norfair (Kind Edge Omega)

Banned: Everything else. YOU CANNOT PLAY ON ANY OTHER STAGE, unless agreed upon by both players/teams.

And that's all for the rules.

PAYOUTS
1st - 70%
2nd - 20%
3rd - 10% or Entry Fee back (whichever is greater.)

Payouts will be rounded and equalized in accordance to "fairness." If you have a question regarding what that means, speak with your TO.

Payout is subject to change if the attendance increases dramatically.

If you have problems, questions, concerns, etc., voice your opinion here: https://www.facebook.com/events/369764669851722/?ref_notif_type=plan_user_invited&source=1.
If you see that there is some information missing, please inform someone on that page so that we can get it right.

Thank you very much. This is our first time running this stage selection, so all feedback is appreciated. We would prefer constructive criticism rather than ridicule, though. Furthermore, come to this tournament and invite all the peeps. We're hoping for a great turnout as our local area is rather dry, so we would like to get people to attend.

The Brawl/PM SLAST a few months ago was my first tournament. I'll be for sure going to this one.

But Doom, when's the next time you're going to host a good smash game kappa?

\What do you mean, a good smash game?
Not tr4sh kappa

also since Mr.Doom is a noob cake , here is the wichita smash bros 4 group. Recommend joining if you're interested in more 4 tournaments.

Also Wichita Fighting Games Association, but that's more of a general fighting game thing.

So, I'm not 21, I want to attend the singles event, and I understand that this is a bar. I'm wondering if there's a specific time an underage person would have to leave. If that's even a rule.

I believe it is around 10-12 ish? I think you'll need a parent with you depending on how old you are.

It's at midnight when you get kicked out. We should have the event done before midnight, definitely.

Alright, thanks. This'll be my first tournament. I haven't really noticed a smash scene in Wichita at all.

Mr.Doom has been talking about a doubles tournament on facebook. Any news on that? Will we be using APEX rules?

EDIT: Oh I see, Mr.Doom is well organized and decided to put them mixed with the singles rules.

Have fun. Play lots of friendlies even though @Mr.Doom will hate you for it.

It's your first tourney so you're gonna get **** on. Focus on learning and having fun.

If you bring your amiibo maybe we could do amiibo v amiibo while doom isn't watching

Will there be a posting of the placements for everyone that entered? I'd like to know how good I did on my first tournament. It was a great event and good experience. I look forward to more smash 4 tourney's at headshots in the future.

um. I left my gamecube adapter there. the one labeled ZACH V. It would've been at station 1. Has anyone that worked there noticed it at all? I can try to come and pick it up later today as long as no one stole it.

It was still there when I left. My buddy played his last game at that station and it was still there. Hope it's there man! Those things are ridiculous to come by now!

I didn't go to this tournament but I will next time. I was just wondering if smash 4 was the only game played there.

This tournament was only smash 4. Can't say the same for next tournament though.
