On June 30th - July 1st, 2012, a new tournament was born. This tournament brought several unique experiences to the community! The biggest one being the out of country experience. A lot of Americans showed their support and came across the border. In fact for a few, it was their first time ever in Canada. Due to a lot of positive feedback, yet another team was put together in order to redeliver this experience. And with that, IMPULSE 2013 approaches!​

1. Americans can get passports very easily. Go to your local post office and apply for them. They will give you all the instructions on what to do, and some people get their passports within 2 weeks! Getting one costs $135 USD for anyone 16+ ($110 USD to renew), or $105 USD for anyone under 16.​

2. A possible alternative for Americans is an enhanced drivers license which is cheaper than a passport, and quicker to obtain. The enhanced license lets you travel to Canada, and some other countries (though not as many as a passport).​

Frigate Orpheon is BANNED!​

​

Not too long ago, someone made me aware of the fact that SKTAR 2 and West Coast were running a more conservative ruleset. I tested this ruleset at a local on May 11 and wasn't really too fond of it. That being said, I also tried banning Frigate Orpheon at a local on June 1 and found that to be more appropriate. Therefore in an attempt to compromise with the SKTAR 2 and West Coast rulesets while not deviating too far from the current ruleset, Frigate Orpheon will be banned for IMPULSE 2013.​

​

Pre-registration is CLOSED!​

However, you can still register for IMPULSE 2013 by showing up to the venue between 8:00am and 10:30am on June 15!​

If you are bringing a setup, the IMPULSE staff sends our deepest thanks to your support for this tournament. Try and be there for early Saturday morning so that you may setup your equipment. It would be IDEAL that you leave your equipment in the venue between Saturday and Sunday, picking it up Sunday night. The IMPULSE staff will be the 1st ones in and the last ones out of the venue. If leaving your equipment overnight is not possible, then we would also appreciate it if the equipment could be left until the end of the day on Saturday, packed up. And brought back at the beginning of the day on Sunday, and then packed up at the end. As far as TV’s go, I would ask that they remain equipped for the entire weekend.​

​

We still need more consoles (whether it be Wii’s, Gamecubes, or PS3's). If you have them, please bring them. This makes for a better tournament for you at the end of the day. More places to play friendlies with all of the talent that is coming and it lessens the strain on everyone’s tournament experience. There can never be too many!​

Tinman, I think if you include Project M, you'd be able to get more people to come. Project M has been picking up a lot more people lately and there are people willing to travel just for this game. We can talk about it on Facebook/through PM if you like.

There is no 6th place. 2 5th place finishers and 2 7th place finishers.

Shouldnt be big pauses between doubles... that's Apex 2012 mistake. I suggest just finishing doubles right away go by time (ex: semis 7pm, wfs 7:45, etc)

umm.. Incase you're being serious, there is no 7th place... when you're eliminated its either 7th or 5th depending on what round you were eliminated in.

I'm so excited. We had a great turnout last year, I would love to see more people this year. Now that its MK legal I'm sure the Brawl side will have more participants.

Now just so everyone knows, last year I did the Impulse Circuit which was me giving entrance + Venue fee for players who placed in the top 3 of specific tournaments chosen by myself and Tin Man(On the brawl side). We ended up with some pretty strong players receiving these stipends(Silent Wolf, Toph, Juggleguy, HIV+ just to name a few). With this being said, it was a lot of work and to be honest and I firmly believe that these players would have attended regardless of if they had received the stipend or not.

With that being said, I will not being doing the Impulse Circuit this year, it really was a lot of work for what I feel like unnecessary gain.

However instead, If mid-top players are in need of assistance, I will be glad to do what I can. I am trusting that the community is fair and honest and that when I say "In need of assistance" that they legitimately need help attending.

Now as for Project:M. I'm pretty sure we're going to be running a side event. I'll post more about this later.

Thats all I have to say for now... I think... I look forward to seeing this thread blow up. :D
