So far the best way I have improved in the game is focusing on holding the 3DS in different ways. Try changing the way you hold the 3DS.My hands are so big the shoulder buttons are damn near cornered on my palm.

So what about you? What are expecting and what do you desire? Are they the same? Usually disappointment means your expectation is too high.
+1 to this.

I think if your goal is to have mess around and have fun, casual play, For Glory is probably not the best place to do that.

If the goal is to pick up a character and genuinely get better as a player, getting wrecked is one of the best things that can happen to you. Playing people who are leagues above you allows you to figure out how you can improve as a player.

Take the opportunity to record matches and figure out where improvements can be made. Are there patterns that you're using that are too predictable? Do you always roll to a certain direction? Are you too aggressive in your approach? A huge part of Smash is knowing your character, frame rates, combos, etc., but perhaps an even larger part to becoming a better player is the psychological mindset.

Check out the Drastic Improvement thread in the Melee forum (unfortunately, I can't link because I hardly post..). It's one of the best posts I've read on improving your mindset. That, and watch the Smash documentary for inspiration :)

P.S. I suck at this game too. I feel you :'(

P.P.S. Not beating lvl 9 bots is okay. After all, Mango just beat All-Star mode on Very Hard...

P.P.P.S. Don't pay attention to your Win / Loss ratio. It's a horrible way of evaluating yourself as a player.
