Defiant Shout
Smash Rookie
Hey, I'm new here- but I guess that's pretty obvious already, and I've come here for a few reasons:
Now there's a bunch of stuff I'm into besides Smash, namely League of Legends, but quite a few other games as well (mainly Nintendo, but Steam also has a big presence). I also really enjoy art, a bit of anime, and creative writing (although I'm pretty bad at it, so I really only pursue it during school breaks). My music taste is pretty broad, I really only dislike overplayed/mixed songs and screamo so I don't think I'll be fighting anyone over that. I'm into some other things as well, but I don't pursue these things nearly enough for them to be mentioned.
My Smash life is a mix between casual and competitive: I can't go to tourneys because my parents are pretty unable to take me anywhere and school has been exceptionally difficult since I've taken a real interest in smash, but I would love to go, and probably will be able to once I start college. My school actually has two Smash clubs, a more competitive and melee-based one, and one that's play what you bring, which is mostly casual. I'd also like to mention that the clubs aren't more than a bunch of high school kids of mixed talent, but are definitely impressive when it comes to the competitive club. I do play to win, and really only find friendly enjoyment when it's with people I know or am able to chat with, so yea, that's one of my quirks (I still play for glory, but it's more practice and me raging at lag occurring at all the wrong times). I have a few mains (as seen to the left, I believe), and each is mostly for enjoyment or capability, namely Luigi and Falco, for the easy wave dashing and my natural synergy with the character, respectively. My main on Wii U also isn't Falco simply because Wii U feels so different (I don't know why), and it'll be a while before I get used to it enough to be comfortable playing Falco.
I'm a part of the Stabyourself forum community, and a visitor of Mario Fan Games Galaxy forum as well, but each seems to be very small, and mostly joined due to the aforementioned friend. I want to get into game design eventually, but for now I'll just be perusing those websites and learning programming.
I think I'm gonna make a new avatar rather than reusing mine from other forums, so don't kill me for being default. :<
- Skype/Discord groups
- Really want to improve my smash skills with a live chat, and find some people who I can relate to when speaking Smash (I also enjoy a good meme or two).
- Forum threads
- People showing off their skills with characters gives me something to aspire towards.
- It's Smashboards
- Why wouldn't I wanna be up to date on all the great stuff about smash. I'd like to not be outta the loop when in contact with friends after all.
