I love maining Ganon, but the problem is quite a few of the more popular characters counter him. I need a good character to supplement Ganondorf so I can counterpick at tourmanents when I get my *** handed to me by a chain-throwing sheik or a laser spamming falco. Any suggestions? Who do you guys alt, and why?

falco is a good choise because you are probably have troubles with fox\sheik\falco
and he has even matches or advantage over these guys

eventually you will turn into a falco main though, LOL

Try out a swordsmen (Link, Marth, Roy, etc.). They can whoop most of thiose counter-chars.

nah man, just alternate sheik, its what I do and i use it for marths and sheiks, plus sheik is easy to pick up so it wont turn into your main

i decided that i needed someone faster, so i chose shiek, and also someone with a different playing style, so i chose y.link.

Ice Climbers. If you have the dedication to learn them, they'll handle most of your bad matchups. Actually, I don't know how they fair against a good Fox, but it should handle Falco, Sheik, and Captain Falcon easily enough. Ganon covers Marth, Peach, Samus, and other ICs. After that, are there even any more characters in this game?

It doesn't really matter though. From my experience, even playing Ganon, you'll probably win the same matches anyway. Better players will still win, and you'll still beat the noobs. Character doesn't really matter all that much.

doc is a good choice, he's amazing against fox, falco, and sheik, everyone else ganon can take care of, except falcon, which you might find someone else for, ICs for chance, but not recommended, maybe...falco or fox, but it's your choice

I'd say roll with Sheik. Probably the easiest character to learn IMO and a great match up against most characters that give Ganon trouble.

An interesting idea would be to just rough it out through the bad matchups with your friends. Falco was the best suggestion I heard in this thread, giving you two ways to win in most of your medium or slight advantage matchups (Marth, Peach) and handling your disadvantages very well. I don't think Sheik would be too good because, well, what are you doing with Sheik that you're not doing with Ganon? I don't see how you could beat a player that's giving you trouble with Sheik when you're losing with Ganon unless you Sheik is tons better than your Ganon.

Marth would be ok, Peach would be interesting but is somewhat difficult to learn fully. Maybe you could do stage-specific counterpicks like Peach/Mute City or Marth/Yoshi's against the space animals and Sheik and just try to win 50% with Ganon and try to win that match every time.

well i dont agree with your input on sheik.
1.) she is fairly easy to pick and do well in tourney with, so thats a +.
2.) she does well agasint foxes/falcons -2 of ganon's major problems. Sheik can do well vs Flacos' but it's hard.
3.) Ganon cant beat sheik...but sheik can
4.) Picking up a space animal is a good idea if you can train them up well without lsing focus on your Ganon. Falco...even though spamming lasers is easy...is hard to get extremely good with because of the gimp-pwnage. ANd training him might weakening your Ganon.

I play ganon main and have sheik/marth as seconds. I think they are good combination cause they are bth easy to pick up. Also what you said about going all ganon is true. You should work hard on mind games and counter pick stages they can win the for you.

Doc is my secondary as well.

Decent projectile you could spam like a lonely ***** on the internet.

The cape is awesome if you can get the timing down.

And he's just fun. Has a decent WD too.

Untrue sir. Untrue. It's all on how you play your character.

as much as i wanted to try to have a secondary i just have to much pride, Ganon can take on any of those match ups besides shiek and even then ganon can do some stupid ******** stuff to shiek but regardless thats his only true counter. As for fox and falco, no definitely not.

here's a suggestion, Jiggs. My friend was a jiggs main, and switched to Ganon but kept jiggs his second, and in a 2 out of 3, if i beat his ganon, his jiggs is such a huge adjustment for me it normally beats me with sheer surprise factor. And then , i played some guy at UCLA, and when i owned his Ganon, he pulled out Jiggs and it was a battle till the last 100%, and i barely won. But yea, jiggs is good cuz he isn't too much faster than ganon, and he covers fox and falco and sheik ok, marth is gonna be a b**** to beat with her though.

lol you've obviously never played a god falco.
"lol you've obviously never" heard of lambchops but, then again, no one really hears of the best players in FL. So i say again, falco is no counter to ganondorf your wrong, sorry.

I'd say maybe Roy or Falcon if you don't want too much of an adjustment. They roughly play the same, being up-close specialists. I would just try out a few characters and see what you get. Doc or Mario can potentially destroy the Space Animals when used correctly, so I personally recommend them. Your only real problem would be Sheik, though. Fox, or Falco again, maybe as a counter?

I'm gonna back you up on this...

Falco can easily own a Ganondorf. Look at the facts:

Falco has a projectile, one that stuns. **** SHL...

Falco is quick, has a good spike, pillaring can rack up the damage quick.

Where as Ganondorf has no projectiles. Not to say a Ganondorf could never beat a Falco, but he'll have a rough time doing it. Granted, a few good smacks from Ganondorf on a wide stage, Falco's screwed.

That laser can and will screw Ganon's recovery too. Especially if you're using down+B to recover, he shoots you... Oh crap... no more double jump... :(

I like playing Captain falcon. It's kinda like playing Ganon except taking off massive ankle weights.

I don't think that's really a solid choice though since their weaknesses are alike. But I have fun with it.

Ganon is at a disadvantage to Falco yes but, given good knowledge of the match up and just plain skill, its still a very winnable match. All you really need is knowing how to tech follow, powershield, and mastering his edge guard. Once falco is off the stage he shouldnt come back you can gimp him pretty hard. Yea his bull**** spike is annoying but learn to tech the wall. Ganon is a power house and falco has a gimp recovery, exploit it. Oh and just for ****s and giggles ganon can chain throw falco.

Yes you are right. Ganon can gimp Falco like nothing. I've done. two shots on Yoshi Story is death. BUT...a good Falco isn't going to just sit there and let you fair him in the **** face. Yes maybe lambchops is an amazing Ganon and can take Falcos'...but has he ever played an EXTREMELY good Falco...a pro like PC or Forward? Just because Ganon can gimp Falco doesn't mean anything. A good falco won't let you get near him....and if you haven't noticed Falco can combo the **** out of Ganon. Yes your right Ganon can win...but very rarely will you see a good Falco lose to a Ganon.

Lambchops is a falco player, ive seen him ditto PC i think it was 2/3 and he got very close every match but ended up losing they were pretty nuts to watch actually but, anyway, i personally dont have a good winning streak on lambchops he usually ***** me but ive seen Thomas Tipman **** falcos its almost shameful. All in all im just trying to encourage ganon players that fox and falco are yes unusual and difficult match ups but no reason to pick up a secondary to counter them. Learn your way around the disadvantage you'll be better for it.

Watching Tipman wreck DaShizWiz = proof that ganon can beat falco.

As far as a secondary for sheik matches? IC's would be a decent pick.

1) I'll give you the easy part, but what's easy isn't always best. Plus, he said he started with Falco.
2) Sheik is countered by space animals, unless it's Drephen's Sheik on Corneria (I have never seen anything gayer in my life)
3) Ganon loses to sheik main, switch to sheik, and sheik main beats your sheik. Problem not solved.
4) A true Ganon player never loses his Ganon!

Sheik is good primarily against Marth and Peach, and also good for countering the lower tiers with chaingrab hax, but a good Ganon player can handle Marth and Peach, and holding Falco as a second means that you can handle the space animals and Sheik as well, and have a backup for Marth and Peach. Falco also does better vs the ICs. Any questions kids?

That's all I got. Anyway, a good Ganon can punk any character, and especially punk anyone of lesser skill. BTW, /r/ Tipman owning DaShizWiz videos.

To be truthful, i went to maining mario........now before you might rip me a knew one listen, Fireballs work great as mindgames/damage rackers, and if hit on the space animals right, they can loose their jumps for recovery, or combo possibilties, and if you play good defense they dont know what to do, OoooooOooOoOooooOoOOO, and i forgot thhe CAPE.......its amazing.......works great as a stock taker and mindgames..........that is just my personal opinion...........i just dont use fox falco or marth.......but ive played them.............

(the ICs are a good choice to.........)

jiggs gets owned by pretty much any high tiered cahracter but mario, ok not owned but has a disadvantage to all of them but mario, it's not a safe choice

ICs, sheik, falco, and fox are the best choices, the best would probably be falco since he only has to worry about fox, falco, and sheik, ganon can handle ICs
