After being a spectator for awhile, I'm trying to get better at smash. This includes 64 too! I want to main kirby upon my return. Any pro tips you guys have?

I know most techniques : sh, ff, z-cancel, but not anything specifically kirby related.

What are some of his best approaches? etc.

I would've posted this in the character boards, but I don't have sufficient privileges.

roll to the edge of the stage and: short-hop + fast-fall, down + 'b' + 'b' + fast-fall, or up + 'b' to grab the ledge quickly.

roll to the edge and short-hop + neutral 'b' to inhale your opponent off of the ledge, then spit them out under the stage with 'a' (or slow-fall to try for a suicide-kill, but some characters can recover from that tactic.)

forward smash to the edge of a platform or ledge & immediately buffer 'z', forward, backward, or down to fall off (works with the next trick.)

on a platform, press 'z' + down & then immediately press backwards + jump + 'a' to do an instant turn-around aerial (works with 'b' moves as well.) jigglypuff & yoshi can also do this, as they are the only 3 characters that have the ability to turn around in mid-air by pressing backwards + jump.

whether on the ground or on a platform, the similar jump + backwards + jump will perform essentially the same function of quickly turning around in mid-air (compatible with jigglypuff's teleport.)
