Since my previous topic covering Tortimer Island got pretty much lost in the hype surrounding the 50 Things Direct, I'll plug it again here. Go check it out, no one's commented yet. Be the first.

Also, the powers that be saw fit to move the even-older research threads to the Smash Academy subforum. Go there if you're looking for them, or use the links below.

Layout:
Gerudo Valley is a walkoff stage twice the length of Final Destination, almost completely flat except for a slightly curved bridge in the middle. A pair of canopies serve as platforms, one on either side of the bridge. The canopy on the left is lower than the one on the right. Players 1 and 2 start on the left and right edges of the stage, while Players 3 and 4 start on the left and right side of the bridge.

The Omega form of Gerudo Valley is solid with walls extending all the way to the bottom blast line. Players cannot fly underneath.

There are 3 hazards in Gerudo Valley: the bridge, the chasm, and Koume & Kotake.

Bridge:
The bridge in the center of the stage is destructible and has approximately 125 HP. In addition, it weakens over time and can break on its own if left alone long enough, 2 minutes and 25 seconds with no player interaction whatsoever. When broken, it reveals a chasm and can trigger the arrival of Koume & Kotake, both detailed below.

The bridge automatically repairs itself after 30 seconds as the Song of Time starts to play, with the actual repair taking an additional 5 seconds. While the repair is in progress, the bridge flashes white, but it is not solid until the process is complete and it returns to its normal color. In the event a player is caught below the bridge after it is repaired, it is possible to jump through from below.

Because the bridge is a destructible object, projectiles such as Mario's Fireball will not bounce properly on its surface but instead do damage and vanish as they usually do on hit.

Chasm:
Underneath the bridge is a chasm. Inside the chasm are a pair of small branches sticking out from the walls. They are fragile and will break after taking 10% damage or after someone lands on them for the 4th time. Similarly sized spiked platforms are further below, which deal 10% damage but cannot kill, instead doing fixed knockback sufficient to grab the ledge of the chasm. Additionally, the spikes vanish after the first player lands on them.

The chasm is initially impossible to access while the bridge is intact. Once the bridge is destroyed, players can fall in. When the bridge repairs itself, the blast line moves up and will kill players loitering underneath.

Koume & Kotake:
After the bridge breaks, Koume & Kotake may appear with an estimated 50% probability. One or the other will proceed to blanket half the stage with elemental magic. Koume targets the left half of the stage with fire, while Kotake hits the right half with ice. Their attack is in the form of a beam aimed at the edge of the stage, which is initially nondamaging but erupts into its respective element after a few seconds. The element then spreads across its half of the stage, covering the ground, destroying the canopy, and creeping over the chasm ledge. While this is in effect, the screen is tinted red or blue depending on the element.

The entire attack from the first instance of damage to the moment it vanishes lasts about 13 seconds. The attack itself is heralded by Koume & Kotake laughing as they approach and one or the other casting their magic, which takes a total of 5 seconds before it can start to do damage.

Regardless of element, the attack does 17% damage at the point of impact, dropping off to 11% at the edge of its range. It kills Mario off the top at 75% with no VI from the main surface. In addition, Kotake's ice freezes players on contact. While this is in progress, players will only respawn on the safe half of the stage.

The destroyed canopy reappears at the same time the bridge repairs itself.

Summary:
  • Walkoff twice the length of Final Destination with 2 platforms.
  • Bridge destructible with approximately 125 HP.
  • Bridge also weakens over time, can break without player intervention, takes 2:25 if left alone.
  • Bridge repairs itself after 30 seconds, 5 second process.
  • Chasm under bridge has small easily broken platforms and nonlethal spikes.
  • Blast line rises when bridge is repaired, killing players in chasm.
  • Koume & Kotake can appear when bridge breaks, attack half the stage with magic.
  • Magic does 11%-17% on hit depending on distance from epicenter, kills Mario off the top at 75%.
  • Magic also destroys platform, which reappears when the bridge repairs.
