I'm busy moving for the next couple days and won't have internet until Monday morning. Sorry that I can't run this thread guys!

Main:
As usual, I'll be running an info dump thread for Genesis 2 here which will have all the updates and information as it comes, so all the folk at home will be able to keep up live! I'll be putting the newest updates at the top, but I'll leave ways to indicate different information for organization. If you find out anything via friends, livestream, etc, feel free to post here to share! This thread will only be for Melee and any Brawl and Smash 64 information can be found elsewhere. So if you're at home following Genesis 2 and love Melee, come hang out here for all the hype and excitement!

Just a note though that IRL, I'm in the middle of moving and I'm not 100% I'll be available as soon as Genesis starts, in which case I'll update the thread when I can with everything mentioned throughout the day. Regardless, it'll be better to have Melee and Brawl have different threads to post everything so we don't get a tangle of things like last year, so any Melee folk can hang out here!

Also, should I not be busy and the stream is working great (give thanks to Strong Bad if it does), I'll be recording via Fraps. I know that uploaders prefer no one upload poor quality copies, but mine will just serve as a backup as not everything livestreamed is necessarily recorded, and that sometimes recording equipment fails. Hopefully we won't have to resort to streamed videos, but I'll have them ready if something goes wrong to make sure nothing of Genesis 2 is lost.

General Player Info

All tournament information about rules, player lists, etc can be found at www.genesisdbr.com

Genesis 2 is the tournament of the year with players from around the world! Though not at record-breaking numbers like the first and Pound 4, Genesis 2 has an incredibly high amount of talent and only the best of the best will squeeze through to the 48-man bracket. With all of the best players in one place and Mango coming out of his sandbagging for the first time since Pound 4, the winner of this tournament will be declared the current world champion of Melee (with a belt for show!) and win a few thousand dollars! Grand Finals will be a battle for AT LEAST $1500 more!

So who do we have here that is good enough to be the #1 player? Most people right now would guess one of these four:

Mango: Mango is and has been the best player in Melee since he defeated Mew2King back at Pound 3. Mango barely beat Armada last Genesis and we'll have to see a repeat if he wants to stay the best. Things may be different now though as Armada has developed a Young Link which could be used for Mango's Puff and Armada has improved at the Falco match-up dramatically to combat Dr. PeePee. Mango also will be battling the Falco ditto of the century with Dr. PeePee or else face the best Falco in the Jigglypuff match-up against him. Genesis 2 could very well mark the beginning of a new Melee era if Mango doesn't win and there are plenty of players gunning for him.

Dr. PeePee: Only a couple years ago was when Dr. PeePee won in a huge upset defeating Chudat in his first major victory. Since then, he is one of the most improved players in the history of Smash and Dr. PeePee shows that it's never too late to become a top player with his dedication and time put into the game. He's become the definitive Falco, if not Mango. Dr. PeePee also has very few losses since last year, losing to KirbyKaze, Armada twice (once at Apex, once at Pound 5) and Jman, but has beaten all three of them in their last meet-ups. Seemingly, nobody is stopping Dr. PeePee, but with close sets against Armada and Hungrybox at Pound 5, Axe looking to continue his winning streak against him, and Mango perhaps still the superior Falco, Dr. PeePee will have to play better than ever to take the tournament.

Armada: This will be Armada's 5th visit to North America, placing 2nd, 4th, 2nd and 2nd respectively in the past. Armada shocked the world last time at Genesis and connected the the world together after showing that there is still talent and discoveries to be made in Melee. Armada is by far the best Peach player in the world and has adaptive abilities on par with Mango. A hairline from winning both Genesis and Pound 5, Armada gets a new chance to become the world's best player at Genesis 2. He's gone to extreme lengths to get that title, traveling to the other side of the world many times and spending over half a year training with Young Link solely for Hungrybox's Jigglypuff. We'll see if he does that again after losing to Dr. PeePee. Armada's Young Link may do a second showing here at Genesis 2 for Hungrybox and perhaps Mango, but with Hungrybox prepared for Young Link and Mango with many alternative characters, Armada will have to battle both Falco and Jigglypuff again here in Antioch.

Hungrybox: Hungrybox has been on the downhill from his reign during Mango's absence, but still seeks to become the best player in the world. Hungrybox is the best at using all of Jigglypuff's abilities and has high precision with his Rests, and has continued doing so for years with superb consistency. At Pound 5, Hungrybox was defeated by Armada's surprise counter that he wasn't ready for, but since then, Hungrybox likely has learned the match-up or maybe he'll have an alternative of his own. He also continues to have incredibly even sets with Dr. PeePee and if he's continued to improve, he'll be able to beat him. Hungrybox has beaten Mango's Fox and almost beat his Jigglypuff in Winners' Finals at Pound 4, but Mango has been getting ready for Genesis 2 for months. We'll see if Hungrybox bairs the abilities to win it all.

But, there are 4 other players that have the potential to upset the current elite four and perhaps, just maybe, could win the entire tournament:

Mew2King: Mew2King is Mew2King and is still one of the best after all these years. Mew2King has his trio of high tiers for any opponent and is still one of the most destructive players in Melee today. Mew2King has had bad history with all of the top 4 players and with Brawl running as well, Mew2King may not be ready to reclaim being the best in the world. There are very few players that seemingly stand a chance against him, so he should still finish high. Perhaps if he can play on point against Hungrybox and get the finish on Armada, Mew2King can beat them, but it seems hopeless against Mango and Dr. PeePee. We'll have to see if he'll be king again. In teams however, last time at Pound 5, Mew2King played the role of super Aniolas, teaming with Armada and this time, Mew2King will be super L0zr, teaming with Dr. PeePee, which is strong enough to possibly beat Mango and Lucky.

Axe: Axe is one of the most respected players being a high calliber Falco, but moreso placing unfathomably high with Pikachu. Pikachu is still considered a Middle Tier character and has some horrible match-ups, but Axe overcomes. Axe was first recognized at the first Genesis after a huge upset defeating Jman, and though Jman had controller problems, Axe proved himself again at Pound 4 defeating Dr. PeePee. But his huge rise to stardom was at Apex when he slayed every spacie that came at him including Jman again and Dashizwiz. Axe has continued demonstrating his godly Pikachu defeating even Mew2King's Sheik and taking a whole set off him. Genesis 2 will be the ultimate test for him, and having never come close to beating Armada or Hungrybox, Axe will have to have improved yet again, or be capable of defeating Mango and Dr. PeePee if he hopes to finish in the highest placings. Axe should still finish high, but it will be somewhat unexpected if he gets top 3. Axe also has Sheiks and Ice Climbers to look out for and I'm sure Tope would love a set with him. Mango is also the last spacie that beat Axe (at Pound 4), and I'm sure a rematch between them would be a lot closer now.

Hax: While Jman will not be coming, Hax will be. In the absense of Darkrain and SilentSpectre at international tournaments, Hax has the best Falcon placings over the last year. At Apex, I pointed out that Hax always loses by Winners' Round 2 and since then, the now dubbed "Hax Curse" has continued. Hax, even just character-wise has a lot of difficult match-ups ahead, but he defeated Amsah for the second time at Pound 5 and has had close sets with Armada and Axe. There's also a lot of interest in Hax battling Mew2King, being the Sheik slayer. Maybe if he survives Winners' Bracket long enough and plays on point, he'll be able to finish superbly high. It'll be him or Silentspectre (possibly Smoke2Jointz) for the highest placing Falcon.

Wobbles: Wobbles is the quiet underdog for top players. After a very high placing at Apex tying Axe, Wobbles was considered a threat to many players, but after a huge upset shortly after to the Sheik, Rayku, Wobbles appeared inconsistent. However on the plus side, Wobbles has defeated Zhu multiple times, MacD, Axe, and tons more other players, but hasn't appeared at another international since Apex. Wobbling is legal at Genesis 2 and Wobbles is the master of Ice Climber tricks. Living near DoH and Darkrain, Wobbles is set for the tough Peach and Falcon match-ups, but Hax and Armada may be too much. If Wobbles can work his grabs and play without mistakes, he could potentially beat almost every player, but should he get a difficult bracket or Peachs that are good at the match-up, he might in trouble.

Here's hoping that we get to see some dramatic results and amazing sets here at Genesis 2. Hopefully we don't end up with something like Hax vs Mango, Wobbles vs Armada, Axe vs Hungrybox and Mew2King vs Dr. PeePee, etc. and someone gets to shine like Armada did last year. Regardless of an amazing or awful bracket, there are so many super talented players to guarantee several amazing sets.

And don't forget that there are over 200 entering Melee and those are only 8 of the players! Here are some more players of interest that either have the skills to potentially break into the top 12, or have something to prove here at Genesis 2:

Abate: Abate is a still-rising Falco and Luigi main from EC. Abate's most notable placings so far are placing 13th at Zenith and placing 5th at a local that featured all of EC's top players. Abate has a great opportunity to get himself more known here at Genesis 2 and may become the next best Luigi with his amazing play with him.

Aniolas: Genesis 2 will be the first time Team UGS battles North America since Apex. So far, Aniolas and Armada have placed 7th, 5th and 3rd, and still want to be the top team in the world. Aniolas may not have the Sheik skills like Mew2King, but his synergy with his brother Armada is one of the absolute best.

Cyrain: Almost suddenly it seems, Cyrain became a powerful Singles player, placing 13th at Apex and continuing to place high including 9th at Pound 5. Cyrain is one of the best Fox mains right now and is a lot more than just Tope's partner. Cyrain has many Foxs to outperform though if he wishes to be the number one Fox, but if he keeps things up, it may not be that surprising.

DEHF: While DEHF is mostly a Brawl player nowadays, he continues to place well in Melee with his Falco. DEHF was a 1st Seed at Pound 4, finishing 13th defeating Remen and placed 7th at Winter Gaming Fest defeating Lucky. DEHF also defeated the first-time traveling Colbol at the first Genesis and may continue taking out other top Foxs at Genesis 2.

Eggm: Eggm has been one of the best Fox mains under Lucky and Jman for a long time, but hasn't yet made it big like them. Eggm did place an impressive 9th at Apex
defeating several of Canada's top players and losing in a close set to Jman. Just recently however, he beat him and took the tournament. Eggm also seeks to redeem himself after not making it out of Pools at Pound 5, due to losing to Chile's Weon-X.

ESAM: More known for his Pikachu in Brawl, ESAM is also a talented Melee player using Samus. He's one of many Samuses in Florida, including 3 and Plup. We'll see if he lives up to the hype.

Fly Amanita: Having only attended Genesis as far as super internationals go, Fly Amanita is interesting to see how he will do. He finished a nice 25th placing at Genesis, and has a new shot at Genesis 2. His most remarkable win so far was defeating Mew2King 3-0, who defeated Wobbles 2-0. Fly has also defeated MacD, Lucky and many others in California, and also Hungrybox. Still, he has little to no experience with players outside his state, but shows he has the potential to place high. This will also be the first tournament in years that both he and Wobbles will be attending the same tournament and Fly may undisputedly become the best Ice Climbers.

Fuzzyness: Fuzzyness is from the UK and one of Europe's top players and best Falcons. He is also one of the few players to have taken games off of Armada. Fuzzyness has many high placings in Europe, and this will be his first visit to North America for his chance to place high here too. He's also teaming with Kage for a very interesting international team of Falcon and Ganon.

Hugs: Hugs is still the best Samus after all these years and continues to place high, including 9th at ROM3. Hugs has said he looks forward to playing Dr. PeePee and Armada, and both would be great matches to see.

Kage: Kage recently placed 5th at Zenith and placed 1st in Teams with Axe, 3-0ing both 2nd and 3rd. Kage is the warrior and fighting to prove himself everywhere he goes. Genesis 2 is a great opportunity to do that again and perhaps be the agreed best Ganon main (as many will argue Linguini still is). Kage also seeks revenge on Mango after a rather humilitating set at ROM3 and may end up doing a lot more than just that.

Kou: Travelling with famous Japanese Brawl players, Rain and Earth, Toph and Kou will also be at Genesis entering Melee. Kou is a Falco player that has played for many years, since the days of Aniki and Bombsoldier. Kou is currently one of the top Japanese players underneath Machdash and we'll get a chance to see how the Japanese still fare in Melee.

Leffen: While Calle W is not attending Genesis 2, Leffen, another top Falco in Sweden will be. Leffen has been placing high in Swedish tournaments for the last while, and is ready to take on North America here. Leffen is also one of the best Yoshis in Europe along with Mind Trick and may get an opportunity to play V3ctorman outside of the tournament itself. We'll see what else Sweden has to offer with Leffen.

Lovage: Lovage is the most improved Fox, placing well at Pound 5 as a second seed, and defeating Lucky and winning a tournament recently. Lovage is one of the most technical players in the world and with the brainpower he's putting into the game, he's very capable of finishing high.

Lucien: For a long while, Lucien was WC's rising star, but hasn't attended a large international tournament at his new level yet. Lucien is one of the few dangerous Sheiks and even fewer coming to Genesis. He and Tope fight for the highest placing Sheik main.

Lucky: Lucky is still a very fast and very skilled Fox and will be teaming with Mango at Genesis 2. Recently finishing 5th at ROM3 and 17th at Apex, Lucky is a bit inconsistent, but if he's on his A-game at Genesis 2, he could very easily place top 8. He has had an UNLUCKY streak with having sets with Armada at all three tournaments they've both been at, and hasn't won any of them. Without Jman, the main team he and Mango have to war against are UGS.

MacD: MacD rivals Vanz for top Peach in North America and for second under Armada. MacD usually places in the middle area of results and hasn't quite shined at a major tournament yet. He did have a very close set with Armada at Pound 5 and defeated Axe at DGDTJ, and if he keeps improving, he might be able to place high.

S2J: Smoke2Jointz is becoming the next big Falcon, placing high at locals and making bracket at Pound 5. S2J defeated Strawhat Dahean in bracket and beat Hungrybox in a money match, both at Pound 5, and he's also placed consistently well in teams with his partner Lovage. Genesis 2 is a great chance for him to gain more recognition, but with the high competition, he may just nairowly make it through against many players.

Shroomed: Shroomed is the face of Doc right now. Placing an impressive 9th at Pound 5 after losing first round to Blunted Object, Shroomed is becoming a dangerous player and with a character not too many people are completely comfortable facing. Shroomed also has various alternatives that he's used in Cali tournaments. We'll see if Shroomed is ready to place high at Genesis 2.

Silentspectre: Silentspectre makes his return to internationals here at Genesis 2. His last major tournament was Pound 4, placing 9th losing to Hungrybox and Zhu, and placed a rather disappointing 25th at Genesis. Silentspectre is always placing high in California tournaments and was a hair away from beating Mango's Falcon at DGDTJ, so he should still be in shape for Genesis 2. This will also be the first time since Pound 4 that SilentSpectre will be at the same tournament as Armada.

Taj: Taj and his more than just legendary Mewtwo appear for the first time since Apex. At Apex, Taj finished 25th as a first seed defeating many players including IB, and very closely losing to Kage, and also placed 5th with Axe in teams, who he'll be teaming with again. Like many folk in Arizona, Taj will be representing an entire lower tiered character.

Tect: Tect is a rising Fox player from Ontario, currently residing in BC. Tect hasn't yet got himself out on the map, but made it into the Pound 5 bracket and placed 33rd. We'll see if Tect will be more known after the tournament.

Tope: Many Sheiks won't be at Genesis 2, making Tope one of the best at the tournament. Tope placed 9th at Pound 4, but hasn't matched that again yet. He and Cyrain will be one of the top teams and get to continue their team dominance here. If Tope is fortunate, he'll get to play Axe in Singles and take out one of the top players. So far, Tope and Axe have played in crews twice and both times, Tope defeated Axe with ease. Axe does have Falco and other alternatives however. Otherwise, Tope has a lot of challenges if he wants to finish at the top at this tournament.

V3ctorman: VMan won't be entering Singles, but will be there with the Arizona army and playing friendlies with all sorts of various people. V3ctorman placed 33rd at his first international, Pound 5, using Yoshi and defeating players including Azen, Weon-X and having close sets with other powerful players. While we won't see him in bracket, there might be some interesting matches outside the tournament, including against one of Europe's top Yoshis, Leffen.

Virtualvoid: Virtualvoid is an Ice Climbers player travelling from Israel. Not much is known about him, but he claims to be a good player. We'll see how he does and if he can compete with America's Ice Climbers, Fly Amanita and Wobbles.

And again, this is just a few of many, MANY players that will be at Genesis 2. Stay tuned for everything that happens at the tournament! With the top players from all over the world, there will be a ton of great matches that you won't want to miss. Genesis 2 could also crown a new world champion of Melee and we may see many surprises that nobody expects. Watch the livestream, follow Twitter and hang around in this thread if you want to keep up with everything that happens live!

-1st place in Singles is about $3000, while 2nd is about $1500.
-Amsah and Jman are not attending. Neither is Dark.

He then proceeded to lose 3-0 vs Shroomed and HMW two days later.
Like it's a disgrace to lose to shroomed to begin with, he regularly beats SS as well, he's probably the best player in Norcal at the moment.

Fuzzy isn't as great as the people here make him out to be, he lives of abuse. + He's cocky as hell.
He isn't particularly loved in Europe either, nor is he even the best Falcon we have, no matter how often he claims otherwise!

I'm not trying to sleep on Fuzz. He's legit. But if he goes from winning a tournament to losing 0-3, 0-3 in two days, it tells me that he's not consistent enough to be considered a top player (but as I said, he's still good and I'm not trying to take his achievement away from him).

Oh absolutely, I'm under no illusions about Fuzzyness' skill level.
