Game: Four Team Tussle

So I was bored and decided to throw a simple game together.

The concept is to divide the Smash WiiU/3DS cast into four teams. We'll just say they're all competing to be the best team. So the basic goal is to make four fairly evenly matched teams. Due to the amount of current characters (30), two teams will end up with one extra character. If this becomes popular enough, I'll update it with the revealed characters after E3 is over.

Guidelines:

• Diversity makes for more interesting set-ups.
• Each team must have a 'leader' character selected.
  
• If a series has four or less characters then they cannot be on the same team.
• If a series has five or more characters, they are allowed to have two on a team. (Only Mario currently has 5)
• No more than two newcomers per team.
• Third parties cannot be on the same team together or on a team with Mario.
• You can also add your own personal guidelines to challenge yourself.

So, with all that out of the way, here's my own four teams.

A free for all suggests no teams. The title should be changed. This is a difficult task to do, but your set up looks okay.
EDIT: Thread title is changed. Good choice, by the way. I'll buckle down and see if I can't get come up with the teams.

So... did I do this right?
I tried to pick all different captains.
Separated realistic vs cute characters.
Separated sword characters.
And... that's pretty much it.

Luigi was added to team 2 because why not ? Nobody cares in which team he's in anyway and team number 2 is quite fitting for him =p
Lucario was added to team 3 because it didn't have a pokemon.
