Okay, nothing to do with Video-games, and even less to do with smash, but It's a fun topic.
Furries!
I've been looking for quite along time on the internetz, and I've found that us furs get so much hate. Why? Because nobody takes the time to explain it to people.
So, I'm going around, spreading the truth about furries, so as to get rid of misconceptions.
I shall do so now.
[[I'll spare you all the rant, and get right to the Misconceptions. however, if you want to ask me what a Furre REALLY is, just PM me, and I'll be more than happy to tell you.]]
Number 1:
Furry is a fetish. Not True. The Furry fandom is a hobby, a culture or interest, much as someone could say that they have an interest in Salsa Dancing. To call the fandom a fetish is to say that All Star Trek Fans masturbate to Captain Kirk. It's just not going to happen.
Number 2:
Furries are Sex-addicted. Largely not true. although there are a lot of people who are mainly into the fandom because of porn, most of them have their reasons.
Number 3:
Furries Think they are Animals. This is true to an extent. People who believe that they are animals or have the soul of one are called Therianthropes. (AKA other kins.) They are not part of the Fandom, although They do cross often, however, and it is quite easy to find Furs who are Therians.
Number 4:
Furries want sex with animals. Goodness knows where this came from. That's known as bestiality. One of the “Guidelines” of the furry fandom is to protect animals, So to cause them Major Physical and Mental harm is just kind of stupid.
Number 5:
All furs are gay. This is largely false, as there are plenty of Bi/Straight furs out there. This misconception is mostly due to the large amount of gay furs. So not all of them are gay, but there are a lot of them.
Number 6:
Sex...In fursuits. Okay, there are some, adequately named Furverts, who do this. However, it's not a very common thing to do, and those suits cost a lot of money, so why muck one up like that?
Number 7:
God hates Furs. Don't see that anywhere in the Bible. Plus the whole concept of god hating anyone is thrown out of the window but the “Love thy Neighbor” Lot. It's amazing how often this argument comes up. It doesn't even make sense!
Number 8:
Furries are All Emo. There may be one or two, but it's funny how all the furry haters call us this when we fight back. It's not being emo, it's defending your beliefs. Get it right.
Number 9:
Furries can't spell. Excuse me? What Am I doing right now? I make mistakes every once in a while, but still. It's usually some nit-picky brat going on about it, and associating furs with it.
*sigh* Furries get their bad rep from several magazines, and a recent episode of CSI. These shows/articles show you only one side. That's the side of the outsider looking in. Get the story from a real fur. That will help you understand better. As they say, Smut sells.The sun Newspaper, CSI, SexY2K, and Eurotrash have all painted bad pictures of Furs in the past.
