I cannot seem to get this to work. I've tried spamming up and down and z, I've tried pressing z to grab, spamming z, and slowly pressing up down up, I've tried pressing z, up, down, up, z, slowly, quickly, as fast as I can,.... nothing seems to work. How fast does one need to press them down (like, really fast, or are there delays?) At first I thought I may have had the wrong game version, but I only have japanese and american as possible languages, meaning I do have the correct version of the game to do the grapple.

Are you pressing the control STICK, or the control PAD?

You have to press it between 8/60 and 39/60 of a second after it goes out >_>

I guess they didn't. Press L to home on opponents with extended grapple beam.
Oh, and this video, which I hope we haven't already seen, has some extended grapple beam usage somewhere in there. I'm sure we all know about Wes...

instead of saying press the button combination before the grapple shoots out, you should say before it fully extends. i took your statement literally and was trying to press it before she shot her grapple out for 5 minutes before i found out the "real" way :p

Is that so? Grappling with Samus (extended or normal) isn't always the best stratagem, despite the fact that it's the best grab range in the game, and extended homes, but...well...hey, maybe it is a good strategem.

There is no downside to doing extended grapple over the regular grab. Its the same speed and lag, but with more range and homing capabilities. You can also time when it grabs to foil spot dodges.
Im not saying the grapple is amazing or an unbeatable mindgame or anything. Just that since there are no real disadvantages, its a good find figuring out the frame data to do it in.

Personally I dont use the extended grapple because I feel it typically leaves me open way to long if i miss. I have a feeling that once you get good at using the beam you can grab people upclose but I havent used it enough to have the timing. Where do you feel it helps you? Longer range and if someone spot dodges it are ht etwo big advantages i see.

while using it if you hold down L it homes in on opponents. downside is that when it touches them you have to press Z to reel them in. but it is helpful for otherwise impossible recoveries.

I don't believe you actually have to reel them in, you just have to press A when it hits them for it to grab them. Then again, it all depends on the version.

Uh...no. I don't seem to understand how everybody thinks that the United States is so amazing and everything, when it's really one of the weakest countries in the world. There are too many liberals in the system, the economy is capitalist of all the stupid ideas, and all of this other stuff that I could just ramble on and on about.

Wrong. Belgian chocolate is much better, as is Pocky (import from the Land of the Rising Sun, better known as Japan).
But does any of this really have to do with X10dead? (Sound that out to understand the meaning of it.)

maybe nintendo deemed it unfair and changed it. i know they changed some of the damage or attacks for other characters, or the way attacks affect other characters in the PAL version. maybe this was just another small change..

I dunno if this was already said but the extended grapple leaves you open for the exact amount of time as a regular one.

It kills at far too low of a percentage. Ask anyone, they'll agree with me.

That was mentioned on this page, wasn't it? The part about the extended beam being out as long as the normal one, I mean.

I'm saying that you're implying that I'M noobish by posting something that somebody already said on a thread that I wouldn't even think of keeping track about. So really...you can shut up.

Of course. You don't see people getting mad at too many Pikachus, do you? Then again, Pichu certainly isn't broken, and anybody who's played WL gets mad at Pichu.

If you did you would already know that i was implying that "noob" statement at the new ppl to the boards and how they always start a new "Extended Grapple" thread.

I derserve to say this...what an azz:urg:

WL=WiseLugia. PM him if you feel the need to do so, he does consistently own people using a Pichu (except Codename: Zero, in that matchup, WL loses to Zero's Mewtwo).

There are too many liberals in the system.

geez, i was wondering why kochica sounds like a little *****. i'm not flaming, i'm just saying you're argueing with joker for no reason, and talking about politics in an "extended gapple button combo" thread. i'm a socialist, so having idiots pretend like they know what they are talking about both makes me laugh and disappoints/angers me. keep your idiocy out of this thread, before i do start flaming someone who blames people who are, on average, more intellegent than people who subscribe to his beliefs, which is nothing more than being stuck behind the magic fire(that's from a german opera called "the ring cycle", you wouldn't know anything about it).

aaanywho, i was wondering, does anyone know if there is a different frame rate for grapple-jumping/beam cancelling/rising grapple when the extender is out? for some reason i have about a 50% lower success rate when the extender is out. it's probably just coincidence, but i thought i might as well ask.
