Easy way to Fast Fall after fireballs

Some of you may already know about this, and I'm sorry if this has already been posted (I didn't see it anywhere).Anyway today I found out that when you use Mario's fireballs in the air you can just hit your c-stick down and you will fast fall (You could just spam it down if you are lazy and that also works pretty well). I found this to be easier than just using the control stick, but that is probably just personal preference. This also works with other projectiles, like Ness' Pk fire and I think Falco's lasers.

Is the c-stick timing less strict than the control stick timing?

I don't know if it is necessarily less strict, but I found it easier because I could continually hit the c-stick down until it fast fell.
