As much as I don't like that Ridley picture, I find the thought hilarious that that "thing" would be unlocked at the E3 Invitational Tournament with thousands of people watching. Can you imagine that people have been waiting YEARS for Ridley's inclusion in Smash Bros., and for him to be unlocked at the Tournament looking like THAT after all the hype for this super cool and savage space dragon? The reaction from the crowd/tournament participants would probably be one of the funniest moments in E3 history.

Interesting to note that the "e" in "Anyone" doesn't match the "e" in "Free for all" in the leaks. The counterspace in the "e" is smaller in the real picture, and the drop shadow is also perfectly round behind it in the real pic, whereas in "Free," the drop shadow corresponds to the gap between the bowl of the "e" and the terminal stroke below it.

Out of boredom I tried to see how a fake could make a false version. Besides the obvious font difference it looks the same as the leaks.

I know this means literally nothing because the official CSS could have used the similar set up like the ForFun/ForGlory thing.

hotcrumpets, I believe you were the one who said a while back that the IP address for the guy who posted Pic #6 was the same IP address as the guy who posted the first 2 pics, and that this was discussed on 4chan. Is this correct, or did I misunderstand something? Because I can't find any such discussion of his IP address in the archived 4chan thread of Pic #6.

I definitely remember someone comparing the ip of the 6th pic to the original pictures and finding out it was the same, could have been a different thread talking about the leaks though, I can not find it though. it is robbaly by the same guy anyways since the 6th pic is at a different angle than the first 2, whereas the y leak was a modified version of one of the pictures.

The space between the legs of the "n" in the real screenshot is larger than that of the leak.

the "e" and "o" in the real screenshot are taller than they are wide, while in the leaks, the "e" and "o" are wider.

The "r in "For Fun" or "for glory" has a longer shoulder than the one in "Free For All"

The "A" in Anyone has equal thickness for both legs, whereas the "All" in "Free For All" has a thicker right leg.

The "i" in "With Anyone" has a circular dot, and the dot rises higher than the ascender height of the lowercase "t" in "With"
The real "i" also has a stem that stops shy of the stem of the "n" in online," whereas the height of the stems in the "i" and "n" in "Options" are equal in height.

The tail of the "t" in "With Anyone" is thicker than the vertical stroke, whereas in "Options," the T's tail is thinner than the vertical stroke.

The drop shadow behind the "e" is perfectly round in the "Anyone," but not so in "Free For All."

I think this is pretty important. There are some very clear differences. The most apparent is the "r".

It is different from game to game, but this might be a custom font.

At this point, I think the first 2 pictures could maybe be true, but I would still be quite surprised if the demo doesn't just have spaces for the playable characters and nothing more. Besides, while plenty of people (myself included) are hoping/expecting a character reveal after the tournament, showing a bunch of locks would make people be expecting it more than just having no obvious indicator.

As for the Ridley model, I'd right it off simply because the wings look far too small. Even if Ridley had a vastly reduced size, I doubt it'd look like that. It seems like no one is putting any faith in that part of the "leak" though.

It would be extremely illogical to me for a developer to go through the trouble of creating their own font for menus when millions of fonts already exist.

The thing I think is more interesting is that Franklin Gothic is a very common typeface. The typeface used in the real screenshot doesn't look like anything I come across in my day to day as a graphic designer, and is likely a font that has a lot of Japanese glyphs, which aren't easy to find for Americans. Franklin Gothic doesn't have Japanese glyphs.

I also missed another difference. The "e" in the leak is wider than it is tall, while the real "e" is taller than it is wide.

Why would a random guy saying IPs match matter? Even if someone did comment that. He is obviously lying. There are no recorded instances of tracking IPs on 4chan. Let alone for something that's actually important, which this is not.

Yeah, I noted that in one of my earlier posts. That's also a very telling sign that the potential faker could have just a drop shadow filter and left it unaltered, where a real graphic designer would convert the drop shadow to vector paths and tweak it for things like that.

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, or anything, but I'm extremely sensitive to differences in type. I studied typography in college. I know that these differences aren't just incidental.

On the topic of fonts, I would just like to point out that in the discussed image from the Nintendo Direct, the "For Fun" and "For Glory" font is different from the "With anyone" font, which is different from the "online". The Nintendo Direct is showing a multitude of different fonts on the same screen.

Given the time dedicated to menus in Smash games (not a lot of time =P), I don't imagine they'd pick a different font for Options and "Free for All." There's no reason to do that. The typefaces in the real screenshot are perfectly consistent, despite the varying contexts of the type.

Nope. They're the same font, just different stylistic treatment. If you actually isolate the letterforms themselves and ignore outlines or shadows, they're the same. They have the same exact characteristics.
