Double Blind Selection feature?

What is the feasibility of the next iteration of Project M theoretically possessing a double blind character selection feature accessible from the character select screen? The idea would be something along the lines of pressing an indicator button/buttons at the character selection screen (perhaps one of the shoulder buttons), followed by a short button combination sequence that corresponds to a specific character. At the end of the unique character-specific sequence input, the player would then press start to lock in their selection and both characters would be selected once both players have pressed start (or optionally the player could press b to clear their character selection instead of pressing start to confirm their selection). It probably wouldn't be too hard to assign a button sequence for each of the 41 characters and would eliminate the need for a third party to confirm double blind character selections.

I'm just curious as to how feasible a feature like this would be from a developer's standpoint. Sure, you could just circumvent this by using a third party, but I was just curious and thought this would be an interesting concept if it were actually a feature. The only other mentions of this concept (or something similar) I could find were from the comments of this year old thread from the PM subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBPM/comments/2dt08a/double_blind_first_match/

I'm sure it's doable, but completely unnecessary. All the work needed to code that, and all the effort needed to remember how the game selects which character you meant...90% of the times, most players would be too bothered to figure it out and just grab a 3rd party and blind pick like normal.

Something the game could do is hide the character selection after you select it (Character announcement audio muted, no button visible, none of the selected character things appear at the bottom of the CSS). You get your opponent to turn away from the screen, then select your character, and then they select their character. It would remove the requirement of a third person.

Then again that sounds dumb and complicated (especially when double blinds are so rare) and it's probably easier with a third person.

If the process involves turning away, you can mute the volume, then hit the hmn/cpu/none toggle to none, and that's done.
When you toggle back to hmn it keeps your character.

It could be as simple as pressing Z to select a character selects with no announcer call. That way both players just look away while the other picks. Much simpler. And maybe start to revival the selected character x]
