I am CERTAINLY the last to say that something being bad and it being illegal correspond. Case and point: walrus. But still, pirating sucks and it IS stealing. Who cares if you're not directly gonna be paying the devs anyway, I don't ever want false copies of my personal creation floating around where I can't see em. It's just such common practice now though that you can't really do anything about it but accept it.

Diggin' this conversation. A lot of the big ideas that I would float have already been brought up; one thing I would add is that (while I don't have sources on hand so just take my word for it guys), the people who generally pirate are also the people actually supporting the medium from which they pirate. That is to say that they are the fans, and they usually do what they can to support the developers, artists, writers, directors, etc. even as they technically take what they have not paid for. The people who pirate Game of Thrones episodes are the people who spend the money on boxsets and side merchandise and other shows when they actually have the money to do so. The people who pirate Arcade Fire albums are the people who later buy shirts and vinyl records when they're released. There are of course plenty of exceptions, but the fans are within the pirating community. The people who don't pay for anything were never going to spend the money anyway. If they had no way of getting it for free, then they just never would have bothered. The people who don't pirate at all are, on the whole, simply less likely to consume the media in the first place.

The characters so far read like typical JRPG characters and I already feel the romance brewing between Tiz and Agnes, they blatantly make it obvious. Here's hoping it spices up a little bit more and Tiz doesn't fall beyond typical overly optimistic chosen hero #84938943.

You can probably make exceptions for games that flat aren't available.

I usually just find a way to kick the money back if I like it enough. Example: Amanda Palmer released her last album on her website as a pay-what-you-want sort of deal. I chose to pay nothing because I didn't know if I would like it. I listened to it for a few weeks and then decided to go back and throw in $20. And that's money that goes straight to her and her band and whoever else may be in her direct employment, not Apple or Walmart or wherever.

Granted, in that scenario what I did wouldn't even be considered piracy, but you get my meaning.

'Nother example: I bought this, like, deluxe vinyl edition of Tegan and Sara's most recent album last year. It came with the vinyl record (obviously), a copy of the album on CD and a download code for digital copies of two bonus tracks (and some other stuff but not important). The CD was obviously not great quality because no CD is great quality, but even the bonus tracks that I downloaded (in other words, no need to compress them to fit on a CD or anything) were lower quality. So I went and pirated a higher quality version of the album (which is something you can do in most cases. The version of anything you get from iTunes is never the best quality either; it's just loud). So yeah, I "stole" a copy of the album. But Tegan and Sara still have my money and everybody's happy.

On the topic of piracy, I would just like to say for the time being that I DO, in matter of fact, actually believe piracy to be a form of free advertisement. For example, I would have never considered buying FE Awakening if I wasn't a fan of the FE series in the first place. What got me into fe? FE 8 and 7. I didn't buy these games though, I simply downloaded their ROMs and played them on an emulator. I liked the games, was turned on to the series, and now buy FE games. So yes, I guess Nintendo took some sort of short term minuscule loss because I didn't purchase two nearly decade old games, but in the long run I brought a full priced game from them plus more. Now of course a single purchase of a game isn't even a drop or money for them, but the point is is that they overall made a long term gain from a customer.

I actually have a little (really, only a little) more to say about the topic but not right now. Working on something that needs to be done by tonight.

To Be Kind by far at the moment, Gira chants '****' for about 5 minutes in one song, it's euphoric. It's like the sister album of The Seer only more jam-oriented and has way more foot-tapping moments; that isn't to say it won't knock you on your ass also. I also liked Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks even though it's essentially mediocre, it's ironic the thing I dislike the most about Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks is Avey Tare himself, he needs to stop using that stupid voice changer and effects in every goddamn song, it only adds clutter.

@marshy Madlib & Freddie Gibbs (Pinata) dropped some of the tightest **** year when it comes to rap, hard contender for Rap AOTY for me.

Liars (Mess) is also pretty good, definitely not a favorite but not bad by any means necessary. Some hard electronic dance.

I enjoy St. Vincent's self-titled debut but It's not very memorable for me, when it shuffles on my playlist I'll usually let it play out.

Snowmine's new album Dialects is enjoyable yet uninspired Indie Pop, nothing really stands out but it's a pleasant listen, the same goes for Kye Kye - Fantasize.

Eagerly awaiting New Kendrick album, Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper, Run The Jewels 2, Captain Murphy - V, and The Antlers - Familiars.
