Alright everyone, alot has happened since the first DWYP, and the majority of you newbies weren't here to witness the debates. Well, I've been give the Green Light to make this a reality. But lets go over the basics.

1. What is Debate With Your Power?
a) Debate with your power is a debate tournament hosted by the Debate Hall. Those who sign up will debate various topics mostly chosen by the themselves.

2. How will DWYP work?
a) DWYP will be open to all Debate Hall members and sign ups will be cut off at 32. Each round, a set of topics will be given. Those who are participating will each choose their top 5 topics, and the side they stand for. We will then use your top 5 choices to pair you with someone who has opposite views as you for a pairing. You will have an alloted time to research and debate. 3 Judges will then grade your debate by the techniques you used, how well you debated your side, and other criteria which is yet to be finalized.

3. How can I join DWYP if I'm not currently enrolled in the DH?
a) Although DWYP is only open to those who are in the DH, joining the DH is a very simple task. You just let one of the Mod's know that you want in, and you're basically admited. But we go by the boot policy in here. If you screw around, and dont' take it seriously you're kicked out. So basically signing up for DWYP gets you into the DH.

4. What's in it for me? What do I get for winning DWYP?
a) As of now, we do not have a set prize for DWYP. Prizes are being discussed, but with the new update of free custom avatars, it defeats the purpose. A few ideas have come to mind. A Special Title could be a posibility showing you're the DH Champion, a gavel symbol under your name much like the WWYP pen. Other possiblities are being discussed, but some sort of prize will most likely happen. But most of all, you'll be regarded as one of the most intelligent people in these forums, and you'll have the title to show for it.

5. I'm really excited, how do I sign up?
A) It's quite simple, if you're already a member of the DH, you just go to the DWYP and fill in the criteria that is asked of you. If you're not signed up, send a pm to Crimson King and he'll get you into the DH, and you can sign up from there. We do this because the last DWYP suffered from drop outs. And we want this DWYP to consist of people who really want to debate, and will put the effort to set time for this event.

6) When will this begin and how long will it last?
a) Summer is a perfect time to run this. School is out, and people generally have more time. So I'm aiming at getting this started ASAP. Im pushing for the first week of July. So that leaves roughly 1-2 weeks of sign ups/ setting it up. After that, each round will be last roughly a week, and we should be done by the end of August. But please, sign up for this if you will have the time to commit to this.

That's all the questions that I can think of now, if you have any more questions please PM me, or leave a message in this thread. Remember, we're only taking the first 32 people. After that, We'll taking a waiting list in casesomeone drops out in the opening rounds.

If you have anymore questions on howit works, feel free to go into the DWYP subsection and look at all the past topics and debates. But DO NOT post in those threads, doing so will get you into serious trouble.

UPDATE: Judging for this will be myself, Delorted, and Zero Beat. CK will be filling in when one of us is debating.

I have a question.

Who are the other two judges? I'm not asking because I want to be one, but because whether or not I'd be interested in joining this contest would depend greatly on who was running it. If you have them selected already, it would be great to know who they are.

I do not have judges selected as of yet, I was planning on talking to a few people who came to mind, but whoever the judges are, I'm going to choose someone who is going to be as unbias as possible, and someone who's been in the DH for a extended period of time.

Debate Hall Check-In (All DH members read, or be prepared to be booted)

Over the past few days, the discussion on how to maintain a active, but intelligent Debate Hall has been going on. We've come up with a solution.

Here's how it's going to work. We'll still be openly accepting members into the Debate Hall, but during the time of DWYP, these newer members will have to compete in DWYP. You won't be expected to have to debate amazingly to stay in the DH, but you'll have to show us a little bit of potential. So all members who have joined in the past 2-3 weeks, you are expected to sign up for DWYP. I can understand if you are on vacation during summer, we'll be able to make exceptions based on past posts, but for most of you new guys, you're going to have to join DWYP, or else you'll get the boot.

After DWYP, we might go back to the old rounds, we might not, but we'll figure it out from there.

Now for all those who are veterans, you're not expected to join DWYP. It's a fun contest that will help us monitor new members, but I reall would like to see some participation from veterans to show the new guys how it's done. So for the veterans, we are doing a simple check-in. Simply post in this thread that you are wanting to stay in the DH, and you will remain active, if not just say you want out. All who don't respond within the next week or so, will be booted.

So for all who are new, the sign up thread is here. http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=176725

If you've join the DH in the last 2-3 weeks, DWYP, if you've been here longer than that, check in.

So even if you come around dead last, you still might be able to stay in the debate hall? I'd like to think my posts are at least some what intelligent, but if I do badly in DWYP, I'd still like to be able to get back in. (By the way, I signed up before you issued this statement.)

Don't worry about placing. We're going to be very easy on letting people in from DWYP. This is just an easy way for us to monitor everyone in an easy way, instead of sifting through 10 threads to find two posts.

The Boot Topic is still valid for removing people the community feels detrimental. That topic will remain as your "final warning" of sorts.

Checking in. I would have liked to enter DWYP, but I didn't want to commit to something I wasn't sure I could follow through with. Good luck to all of the people who are entering, though.

I've been here for around a month, so I guess i'm just checking in. Don't get me wrong though. I'd love to sign up for DWYP but i'll be leaving for vacation at the end of the month for about 2 months and my only access to internet would be via mobile. Forgive me if I don't want to spend an hour texting a paragraph. I hope thats understandable.

No, only 3 will win a prize. For you newer members, there won't be a set number. If you debate well, or show potential, you will be let in.

I'm here, but lack motivation to participate in anything. Pretty sure I've been here more than three weeks.

Checking in. Not going to sign up for DWYP because my schedule won't allow me to commit to it.
