Roles

While there were a total of three alignments, there was still essentially only two sides to the game: Anti-Kira (town) and Pro-Kira (mafia). Scum includes any role that aids in the Pro-Kira alignment. Town includes any role that aids in the Anti-Kira alignment. I've included notes in the role files in this color.

Scum

Ryuuk:
This is an NPC that really doesn't have any influence in the game. I only made his role file to be silly. Any of his functions are really just an extension of Light's.
[Collapse=File]
FILE: RYUUK

USERNAME: NPC
IDENTIFICATION: Ryuuk
ALIGNMENT: Independent
OBJECTIVE: You win if the game last longer than 4 cycles.

Passive (5):

Morbid Composer - Nocturnal
You have the ability to use the death note during the night phase.

Morbid Composer - Daylight
You have the ability to use the death note during the day phase.

Human Entertainment
You want to see this play out as long as possible. If the holder of Gelus's Death Note dies in any fashion, you will pick up the note book and take it to the next highest ranking member of the Pro-Kira alignment. Priority Order: Light > Mikami > Takada. (It would be impossible for Misa to have the Death Note if Light were dead as she would be killed as well).

Shinigami Eyes (Death God Version)
You only need a username to kill using your death note.

Shinigami
You cannot be killed by another.
Note: Any player who has held Gelus's Death Note may communicate with Ryuuk. He will answer questions regarding the death note and will indicate to the holder of the death note if they are being visited if they are visited on consecutive phases.

Light Yagami:
[collapse=OP]
Hello, KyryK, you are...

Light Yagami: Kira
Mastermind

You will be the god of the new world: a world where justice prevails and evil cowers in fear. But first you must rid of those whom stand in your way...

Eliminate L and all those who inhibit the new world order. This is your destiny, and your destiny only. The death note came to you after all. And who else could have made it this far? Survive the assault by the Anti-Kira force, and see that justice is carried out to the very end.

Ideas Behind The Set Up

There were a few different set up variations I had in mind with this game. I knew for certain how I wanted the scum team structured, but there were multiple options for the rest of the set up. I was considering not having L in the game and making him Light's safe claim. I also had a variation where there was indeed a "Mafia" faction consisting of Rod Ross, Mello, and maybe one of his goons. It was too hard to mange with only 17 players though. It would have been great addition in a game with a few more players.

The scum team

When I designed this set up there were a couple of main features that I was certain I wanted to include and design the game around. The first being the relationship between Light, Misa, Rem, and Mikami. I really liked the idea of the mafia using a proxy for their kills (Mikami). And by sacrificing direct control over their kill, they would gain the perception of innocence. I wanted that to be a main feature of the game going into it. As I built on it, it the scum team developed into this entity where each role played a specific component in its ability to function.

Light Yagami - Kira - The Head of God
Misa Amane - The Eyes of God
Kiyomi Takada- The Voice of God
Teru Mikami - The Hand of God
Rem/Ryuuk - The Arms & Wings

Light
Light was the central hub for the scum team. A really active and strategic Light is needed for this role as he is responsible for coordinating between the players. He has direct control over Ryuuk whom he can use to pass on the Death Note in an anonymous fashion. He's also able to communicate, without boundaries, with Misa and Rem; and communicate with Takada, but with burden of being in the same room as a town member. I wanted to simulate that relationship between the two of them in the show. Light used Takada to communicate his plans to the world and to Mikami while at the same time being watched by the Kira task force so direct communication was impossible.

Misa
Misa was the scum team's secondary way for gaining names and information. Like in the show, the primary way was through pure investigative tactics. The tertiary way was through Rem's Steal ability. This could only be used once per cycle, however, and was not necessarily reliable due to certain players carrying alias's. Like in the show, Misa was the final trump card for gaining names in the event that they needed to be gained as quickly as possible. After performing the deal, Misa is able to reveal names an a relatively speedy manner. Ronike performed the deal Dusk 2 and was able to gain the identity of Mac, Adum, Garg, TRG and another before he would have been lynched Day 5.

Misa was meant to be both a burden and an asset. She is such a liability in the show and nearly brings Light to light, because of her foolishness. However, Light is unable to rid of her for various reasons, primarily Rem's protection. And because he is too stubborn to do the Eye Deal himself, he needs her for that. There were a couple of things I did to make Misa a liability in the game. The smiley restriction was the main one. It made all of Ronike's posts so eerie and impossible for him to blend in. And anyone with flavor knowledge would probably have the thought that he was Misa. Misa is like a white dove in the midst of ravens, the blazing target on Kira that he cannot rid of.

Takada
Takada was line of communication between the scum team and Mikami. This role was so important. She was given 5 blank taps as well as the broadcast ability to achieve her objective. As I mentioned, she could communicate with Light in the chat room, but they couldn't risk revealing information because they were stuck with a town member watching them. Ideally, Light and Takada should have set up a code system for Light to communicate his will. The Tapes would have allowed for them to establish this as well as to communicate other little bits of information they could fit in 140 characters. Once Light was informed of the Mikami's username, he could use Takada to send Mikami the username-identities of their kill targets via tape or even via broadcast. One thing I thought would have been neat for the scum team is one day broadcast a multitude of username-identities that they had unveiled, while at the same time including some of their own (username-aliases), creating a load of WIFOM. I thought the broadcast could have been used more efficiently the first couple of dusk phases, though Alak did seem to unintentionally mislead town into thinking there was a 3p-mafia faction with his first broadcast. And he seemed to pick up what it could be used for by the third time around. |

Mikami
Just as in the show, Mikami was isolated from the scum team. His only line of communication with them was through Takada. It was important that the player who took on this role be able to read the intentions of Kira. I wanted to simulate the element of the show where Light chooses someone to take on the Role of Kira based on their ability to understand his will. "Boku ga Kami" was the way I went about that. Mikami needed to make himself apparent to Kira without being apparent to everyone else. So they were both given something that only each other would pick up on. Ideally Mikami would go out of his way to indicate to Kira the number he was going to pick that phase. He needed to gain Kira's attention in order to be victorious in the game.

Mikami was equivalent to a town a traitor role. He did not count towards the mafia (Pro-Kira) majority. The official name I gave it was Rogue. This is where the Morbid Composers being treated as Pro-Kira primarily came into play. If Mikami was not in possession of a death note, he was treated as independent (for investigation and endgame parity); if he was in possession of the death note, he was treated as pro-kira. This was really important to the scum team as it gave them the extra number they needed to end the game in about 3-4 days. There were other players they could give the death note to, but each of those players came with a draw back or risk. They could give it to Ryuuk, but that would restrict their ability to kill. They could give it to Rem, but if Rem were to use it, he'd die. They could give it to a town member with MC, but then they no longer have control over their kill. And finally they could give it to Mello who was basically the counter to Mikami--his objective being: to be the one to kill Kira.

A final note on Mikami is that it was impossible for him to win without obtaining the death note at some point. In order to win he had to either A) be in possession of the death note when the pro-kira alignment achieved endgame or B) had died while in possession of the death note while the pro-kira alignment still eventually achieved endgame. The reason for this is that while he doesn't possess the DN his win-con is to gain it. So if he dies or ends the game without it, his objective fails.

Rem & Ryuuk
Rem and Ryuuk were the scum team's tool for giving and taking items anonymously. They could use this to pass and take the death note anonymously, and steal other items such as IDs--an extra way for mafia to obtain player info.

Rem in the end was to essentially act as a free day kill for mafia. He couldn't vote, couldn't be lynch, and couldn't be shot or killed by the death note.

I actually tried to rig the game to play out like the anime as much as possible. I'm not sure why scum (which was really just Roni) chose not to use Rem to kill L/Mac, and much earlier than they chose to use it. I think this probably comes from the fact that the Kira slot was essentially void throughout the game. I made the roles in a way that was meant to make the players behave in the same fashion as the characters. From the perspective of the Light slot, the most effective strategy would be to use Rem's kill as soon as possible. From the perspective or the Rem slot, the most effective strategy would be to use his kill as late as possible. The Misa strategy was between those two, but with a significantly greater lean towards Light's.

Notable Town PRs

L
Of course, L was the leading town PR in the game. I wanted to have L relate a person's scuminess in terms of a percent as he does in the anime, but without it being something that the player could not interpret in a meaningful way and without it being an RNG type of role. A comparison cop variation integrated really well with this set up. L could determine the extent to which two people were related in the game based on three factors: whether or not they shared the same alignment, whether or not they shared the same objective, and whether or not they shared the same rooms. In general there were four different results L would be likely to obtain:

0% - The two players do not have the same alignment, objective, or share the same room.
33% - The two players share either the same alignment, the same objective, or the same room.
66.6% - The two players share the same alignment and objective, the same alignment and room, or the same objective and room.
100% - The two players share the same alignment, objective, and room.

I'm really not fond of powerful investigatives in mafia games where a player can do nothing all game but then deus ex machina dafuq out of a mafia player who had been playing excellent all game. I feel that PRs should have to use their roles strategically/tactically and refer to their results as mere guides for discussion/progressing the game. They should never be the end-all-be-all. Town PRs should still have to scum hunt in order to be successful. Because there were three Independent alignments, various objectives, and three different rooms, this role balanced really well with this set up. Even if L got a 0% or 100% he still had to determine what that exactly meant by interacting with the players, gathering input, and analyzing motives.

Near & Mello (& Watari)
These two were each 1/2 back-ups to L. If L died they would each gain half of L's analyze-compare ability. Mello gains the analyze portion and Near gains the compare portion. In other words, Near receives the percentage of the relationship between the two people that Mello analyzes. Upon L's death, Watari also gains the ability called "successor". Each Dawn phase he can choose a player. If that player has the back-up ability, they will gain the other half of L's abilities (at the other player's expense). A thing to note is that Near does not know the names of the players Mello analyzes. So if the two find a way to communicate their portion of the actions to each other in thread, Mello can lie to Near about the two people he analyzed, giving him the one-up on finding Kira.

Mello is independent aligned with the objective or killing Kira before anyone else does. While he is technically in the game for himself, his objective runs parallel with town's. Of all the roles, Mello has the swingiest role followed by Rem. I found this to be fitting because they were the determining factors for Kira's success/failure in the show. It was only because of Rem that favor swung towards Kira in the first arc, and it was only because of Mello that favor swung towards Anti-kira in the second. His recklessness and drive to be the one to catch Kira is what tipped the scales.

He was given a single bullet and a revolver that could be fired during Dawn, which Kuz used right away lol. There was only one other bullet in the game, which Mikami was in possession of. Mello could also win by killing Kira with a death note or by leading his lynch. Kuz made up an ability D1 that would have been so much more appropriate, and it's a shame I did not think of it. [The "trigger" ability would be gained upon Rem's death, allowing Mello to immediately lynch a player that had reached a majority of votes and in which Mello was #1 on the wagon. This ability could not be used on consecutive day phases.] Mello was really hard to win with, and I felt this would have been way more fitting to his design and objective.

Raye & Naomi
Raye was put in a similar situation as he was in the show. Kira was right under his nose without him knowing it. This slot plays the role of restricting Kira's ability to communicate with Takada freely. I was trying to rig it so that Kira would make it a priority to find out who Raye was and kill him as soon as possible as he did in the show. Unbeknownst to Light, however, this would lead to Naomi taking over Raye's investigative role and gaining access to the FBI room. A smart Naomi could deduce that Raye was likely in contact with Kira, likely coming to strongly suspect David Lincher, Steve Mason, or both--placing a lot of pressure on Light and Takada.

I really liked the agent role. In the end it came to be one of my favorites. As I mentioned before, I like PRs that require the player to use their actions tactically and still require them to scum hunt. The Agent role was like a weak Tracker, indicating if a player was home or not, but not where they went (I believe the mafiascum name for that is Reporter); and a weak self-watcher, indicating whether or not the player was visited, but not by whom.

Other Stuff

How ID's and Rooms work
So the idea behind this game was that a players Username was equivalent to their face where as their character name acted as their actual name. In order for a player to access a secured room (KIT, SPK, FBI) they needed both an ID card that matched their face (username) and the password to that room. Say for instance, Light go his hand on a KIT ID card. While he would receive the password to the room at night, he would be unable to access the room, if the ID did not match his face. For this reason, Aiber was the only player that could access other rooms with another player's ID.

Another thing to note about this is that I originally intended for Aiber and L and Near to be able to use any of the names they had. The problem with this is that I had made the game a while back and had forgotten how to manage the functions on chatzy when the game came around. When a player changed their name in the chat, all the players would know, which was no good. After the game started, I figured out again how to hide that display, but I figured I may as well keep the rules as I had them.

Morbid Composer
I actually would have told would have cleared this up had you guys asked me about it, but I couldn't do so without being asked, otherwise it would give host indication that Ruy was town and telling the truth. Clearing it up after being asked would have provided a better sense of Ryu's role as well, but it wouldn't be host-influenced. Although, now that I think about it, I could have probably informed Ruy privately, but i still feel that Holder would of metad dafuq outta me.

Anyways a player with the MC ability is NOT converted when they receive the Death Note. When they are holding the Death Note, their alignment is treated as Pro-Kira (for the purpose of investigation and the town-to-scum ratio). Their win-condition (objective) does not change. If Ryu was in possession of a death note, he could still only ever win by "eliminating all threats to the anti-kira alignment".

Ranmaru was spot on with the post below, and I thought people would come to their senses after that, but Holder was the only one to acknowledge it (but turn it down) and everyone else ignored it:
Yet it states "while they hold this notebook." So it is assumed that they are only seen as pro-kira 'while holding the notebook' and to me it is implied that when they are no longer holding the notebook, that they won't be seen as pro-kira. Unless you think it should have an addition to confirm they won't? I think that would make the morbid composer a red herring, for any investigator to trip up and get a fake scan. So if a morbid composer has the notebook in possession and is scanned, it would be like a miller.

Anyway I don't think voting Red Ryu simply for his claim is good enough. *Cough @ adumbrodeus adumbrodeus Cough*

Safe Claims
Steve Mason: When I was first designing the game and adding the room element I wanted at least two roles that had access to more than one room. Steve fit the description as he was both and FBI and SPK member. Had I included "The Mafia" or another faction (Mello's faction) in the game, I was thinking of also having one of Mello's spies (III Ratt) as a part of the SPK. Aizawa was another that could have access to the SPK based on flavor.

Hideki Ide: In the anime, Ide was initially with the task force but left the group when they joined L, because he had a distaste for L's tactics. He was still a bro though and helped the team on a couple of occasions. He eventually rejoins the team after L's death.

David Lincher: David Lincher never appears in the show or manga, but he was the head of agents sent to Japan to investigate Kira in which Raye Penber was a part of.

Wedy: Wedy's role was meant to complement Aibers. I was really surprised that Ronike didn't utilize this. I think doing so could have swayed Adum and/or Holder into reconsidering his alignment. Wedy and Aiber are professional cons that L hires in the show. Their roles were made to be grimy but still pretty convincingly town sided. Wedy was made to steal the ID's and give them to Aiber to forge. While Misa couldn't actually perform Wedy's action, so long as Rem was alive, she could prove this ability. Wedy's role states that she could input the steal action during dusk and receive the ID the following Dawn. If Misa needed to prove this, she could have Rem steal during the Dusk, give it to her the following Night for her to then give the ID to Aiber the following Dawn.

17-Sided Die
This was an item that Near began the game with. Each Dawn phase he could roll the die and receive a number from 1-17 correlating to the players in the game. If a player mentioned number rolled they would receive information on the player it correlated to. This is why some of you got the notification "Gorf is Anti-Kira". TRG had rolled the number 4 the previous Dawn phase, so anyone that mentioned the number 4 during the Day, received that notification about Gorf.

This item, in reality, is actually a dud. The information that players received would always be useless information no matter what. It's real purpose was to mask the Boku ga Kami in the event that scum weren't smart enough to realize that if they were lynched after pointing out a number in thread, town could just comb through the thread and look for anyone who was suspiciously mentioning numbers for no reason.

Something really fascinating about this was that KyryK, while having no idea that this item existed, began the game with the phrase "roll up, roll up" just by pure coincidence. His post was trying to get the attention of Mikami so they would pick the same number, but it completely came off as if he had knowledge of the die. When TRG got into the game, he picked up on this and got a town read from it. I really would have liked to see how this played out had KyryK been active. That post was the main reason people were suspicious of KyryK. It would have been really intriguing to see TRG come to his aid, explain the die, and see KyryK play along with it. Had Mikami been lynched, and people saw that boku ga kami ability, KyryK really would have looked like he was just doing the dice thing.

My Mafia Philosophies

Flavor & Mechanics:

I generally enjoy playing simple set ups as they require town to scum hunt and not rely on PRs and the mechanics. At the same time I really enjoy making roles that transcribe a characters behavior into a mechanical function and balancing such roles in a complex network. There seems to be two basic types of mafia players: those that enjoy the scum hunt and those that enjoy the special roles and their abilities. I tried to strike a balance between the two with this this game. Unfortunately I don't think that was communicated very well. I wanted to simulate the Death Note anime as much as possible within the confines of being a legitimate, balanced mafia game.

This game was incredibly flavor heavy. Players can definitely play better by understanding the general outline of the show and their character's place within it. However, full plot knowledge should never be required for either side to play effectively. In a flavor-heavy game, a knowledgeless player should have to do no more than read a wiki on specific items and characters in order to be maximally effective. Flavor knowledge should never, ever have the capacity to Clear or CONDEMN a player. Flavor analysis will not get a player far in a mafia game. When it comes down to it, constantly delving into players' intent/investigating motives and other scum hunt tactics is the best way to find scum. Unfortunately, many players failed to do this this game.

As I stated in the above, some hosts/players rely heavily on the mechanics to play the game while others rely on the discussion element. Again, the latter is the course I follow. Mechanics make the game awesome and unique and allow for original tactics, behaviors, and discussions. But mechanics and PRs will never be anymore than a guide to finding scum and deceiving town in my games. Players will never be able to simply rely on them to win.

Red Herrings:

Some would disagree with me (and by some I mean Overswarm), but red herring should not be used for the sake of misleading town and screwing them over. Red herrings should be used for two purposes:

1. Balancing (i.g Millers & Cops)
2. Preventing Town from breaking the game by mass claim.

Soichiro Yagami's MC ability was not meant to be a red herring (at least in the way of intentionally leading town to mislynch) in the slightest. This ability literally could have gone to any random town role. There was really only one red herring in the game and that was the 17-sided die being used to mask Light-Mikami's hunt for each other. One could also make the argument that Light not being in the KIT was a red herring in it's absence, though it was really just more of just being cautious of metaing and flavor analyzing--i.e, making a fair mafia game. The balance would have been off having him there since his death results in two. Though I do admit that I was a tad bit tempted to just not have any scum in that room just to see if town would PoE it to oblivion on the basis of flavor.

Inactivity really hurt this game. I should had stuck with my sign up rules and refused the offsite sign ups, but four of the top notch players left the game for another at the last minute so I was glad to accept the barrage of TL players. Alakaslam was the only one of them not to become inactive and replace out.. Furthermore, all the scum slots but one (Ronike) were filled by the offsite / inactive peeps. I would have rerolled, but I'm so picky about sticking to the book when it comes to doing certain things such as randomization. That was a mistake. Before I go further, I will say that the TL/OMGUS peeps were very courteous and kind, and although I am disappointed with the inactivity, I am very appreciative of that.

I realize that the week long break put a damper on the motivation in the game as well. TRG has completely disappeared since then and I've been unable to get in contact with him.

The major things that hurt the Town side in the game was the serious lack of scum hunting and punishing of scummy behavior; the excessive mod metaing/incorrect set-up assumptions; and the lack of consideration for diverging perspectives. Town became way too polar, essentially leaving the game in the hands of one person.

Notable Players

Ronike @ Ronike Ronike
Really sorry that you didn't get to experience the game with a cooperative, active scum team. And that you didn't get to see it through to endgame despite the amount of work you put into it. I really hope you know how hard I treid to make sure your effort didn't go to waste. I couldn't have asked for a better player for the Misa slot. I was really impressed with how long you were able to get by with that horrid restriction and how well you kept up with it.

As I said in the scum convo, your team could have possibly won by the next cycle had you guys gotten in contact with Mikami. Orbo was V/LA and actually missed putting in the numbers the past couple of phases and likely would not have gotten it on the next two phases before your death either. And even if he had, you guys wouldn't have had the time to send him the death note. You would have been lynched Day 5 and the game would continue through the process of lynching any player that wasn't in the core group of obvious townies (ambassadors). With Frozen up to his elbows with work, Orbo out in the field, and Slam doing his thing, there was no way the game should continue.

There were a couple of strategic things I thought you should have done differently. I think that you could of capitalized on DJ's claim in the KIT thread and play it up as if you two were designed to work together. As I said earlier, Hold and Adum probably would have gone for that. And Mac could be led to focus on his other comparisons. DJ dying and Mac being alive was going to ultimately result in your lynch. Which brings me to the second thing. I think you should have killed Mac at the earliest chance you had. He was the obvious town leader and gave a lot of indications of being a PR. Once you found out he was L, he should have been immediately targeted.

Oh yeah you guys just missed being seen as town by Mac's investigation. He investigated you the same night you gave away the Death Note to Ryuuk. Had it been a phase earlier, L would have gotten a 66% relationship with you and DJ and I feel like he probably would not have guided the game in your direction had this been the case.

Frozen @#HBC | FrozeηFlame
Thank you a **** ton for trying to squeeze water from stone by making time for this game. The fact that you replaced into a game like this (and continued to try and play even after realizing how much there was to it), despite being so busy, shows real homie status, and I will always remember this.

batsnacks @batsnacks
I didn't understand why people were calling you dumb town day one. I thought you were doing just fine. Once it hit Night 1 though your play severely declined. Your room shenanigans were very anti-town, your claim only gave scum the information they needed to kill you, and the suggestion of a mass claim was unfathomable. Your reads were really nice though. In the post I made of your host-kill, I quoted all of the votes you had made, and you had only ever voted for a town member once. All your early scum reads were in fact scum.

Adum @ adumbrodeus adumbrodeus
I think you were utilizing your role very well. You were always the most timely and consistent with inputting your actions. The reason why you were visited every dusk and night was because Kuz felt that you were probably scum and used his Dusk-Night abduction to role block you every night to prevent the kills. His abduction shows a visit for two phases, but the action takes place on the second, so that's why you would see yourself being visited for both of those phases.

Despite your suspicion on Ronik, Kuz, and Damdred, you never capitalized on it in thread. Instead you continued to support incredibly bad pushes. As Ran mentioned in that post I quoted above about the Morbid Composer ability, your condemnation of Ryu based on his claim was all sorts of silly, but your reaction to his flip is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. Although the Xastern hydra's reaction to town-seeming roles actually being safe claims in Fire Emblem: Awakening Mafia comes pretty close. I really feel you should have known better than to be so caught up in flavor/set up analysis and mod meta.

Your host rage was very disrespectful. Attacking someone that does not have the capability to respond is just really ill-suited, and not the suit I feel truly represents you. The best advice I can give you is work on accepting that you are not perfect, that you make mistakes, that you are largely responsible for your own circumstances. Attributing fault to others is folly and only limits your ability to grow. Other than the Ryu lynch, another instance of misattribution that I took notice of was your mention of how the short deadline was hampering your ability to continue lines of communication. It wasn't the deadline at all. Had the deadline been 7 days, scum would have still been inactive and town would have continued to play poorly. Ronike was intentionally evading the line of communication. It was not the deadline that was to blame, but Town's failure to punish inactivity and lack of contribution.

Also, I thought it was funny/interesting that you stated that you couldn't trust the host's interpretation of the flavor as if it were an epiphany or insult when that's exactly how you should play any mafia game ever. Your play improved immediately after that.

Mac @ #HBC | Mac #HBC | Mac
I was excited that you rolled L (mostly because I felt I wouldn't have to explain the really-simple-but-looks-complex math). I felt your investigation choices were legit. 3/4 were not town aligned. Though tbh I'm not quite sure what the optimal strategy would have been with this role. I know when we were hydra comparison cop in G3S we had different philosophies on how it should be used. Regardless, I think you relied too heavily on your results and completely lacked the scum hunting element from your game. As I've mentioned, PRs should never be the sole tool for finding scum. They are merely put there to guide. Discussion was far more important to town's victory than any result your role could have provided.

The Ryu lynch was not a bad one, especially for the second day of a Large game. He was scummy for a well good portion. The issue was that you and the ambassadors tunneled him into oblivion. You failed to see any of the legitimate posts he was making, because of the scum goggles and the polarized mind-set the ambassadors seemed to have with circle of flavor analysis / setup confirmation bias. All that tunneling put a huge hold on discussion. The game quickly became about lynching the next person on the list. There was little consideration of diverging view points and discussion about players' intent. It was all mechanically ran. Which is usually a pretty sure-fire way for town to lose.

For the future, if you are the town leader, make sure to take a step back once and a while and let other players hash things out. In the end you will find a lot more meaningful content being produced that you can use to hardbody scum. Your play in Zombies! actually paints a really good picture of excellent town leadership and cohesion.

Some other things of note. Shoulda, of course, trusted your instincts on Ronike. You had your suspicions since Day 1. Actually any of the slots that you felt should have been investigated, probably should have been lynched. You were investigating scummy people and letting them live. Day 3 you almost had it. And even after you switched to DJ, Ronike was actually set to be lynched unbeknownst to Town. He had performed The Deal the last dusk phase so votes on him were "doubled - 1". He was nearly lynched, but Orboknown--followed by Adum--switched off of him right in the nick of it.

I think the broadcast may have better better been utilized by revealing the information you had. I think it even would have been a good idea to fully claim your role's ability in the post. That way you, as Mac, wouldn't of had to push so hard for Ronike-DJ yourself, revealing your PR status. Lastly, I think your decision to give Ran the Tape was the best move in the game. It's such a small thing, but it was the most tactical thing done in the game and I thought for sure that was the end of scum--the two of you uniting. Unfortunately, Ran thought nothing of it, and failed to use it properly. If the two of you would have listened to each other, you guys could have made a lot of progress.

Alakaslam @ Alakaslam Alakaslam
I'd defend the ways of the CHUPAZI to the edge of the earth. Once people get past your excessive out of sight jokes, it's easy to see that you actually are readable. There was something you did in this game (a secret) that put you on my permanent homie list. It sucks that you are stuck playing with only a phone. I'm not even sure how you manage to be as involved as you are in that way. It was pretty funny watching you try to figure out if your topic was all scum or not. The fact that you claimed scum in your topic and Adum continued to have you as town was really funny to me.

I think you overthink your scuminess as scum. A lot of times you would point out your scummy behavior to people and defend it even though they never actually thought that was scummy in the first place. It seemed to work for you though, because they still has you as town lol. Ran seemed to be the only one who ever really scum read you.

Your first two broadcasts could have been better utilized. Though your mention of the third faction in your first broadcast was actually pretty beneficial to your team. Over all you were almost in as just a sucky position as Ronike since your scum mates were inactive. You did well with making do with what you had. My only real advice would be to make sure not to jump the gun on your actions. You had to end up rerecording your tapes a couple of times because of it. On TL/OMGUS you have to play at a faster pace, but here you can take your time to consider how to fully optimize your role and the way you should approach the game.

Gargaglione @ Gargaglione Gargaglione
Dude you're pretty damn intelligent. I forgot what exactly made me think this, but the thoughts you were posting in your role convo were pretty legit. You had some pretty good reads early on, but your play started to shift towards the mechanical lynch the next person on the list fashion that the rest of the town was exhibiting. It felt like you came in strong, but disappeared from trying to influence the game beyond the core town mind-set after a while.

Side Note: I thought you were marshy for a good portion of the game since he told me he was in it. I didn't think there was anyone else he could be haha.

Anyways, your play has vastly improved since you first started playing. I'm glad that you're more active now.

Holder @ Holder of the Heel Holder of the Heel
I'm really glad that you played a game here. I genuinely had not know if you had played mafia before when I asked you. I have always found your persona attractive, at least since I first noticed some of your posts in the Debate Hall. We share many similar thought patterns. And it always seemed to me like you would be someone to enjoy the game. Sucks that you didn't get to experience a better one.

There were quite a few moments from you that made me chuckle in the game. This was my favorite:
Shuichi Aizawa: Holder asked a couple times to be checked when the topic came up, so I'm not sure what to make of that. Pretty foolhardy if he actually is pro-kira or something.
Aiber: Can't rule out that he was getting you to think that.
Aiber: Like I said, dude's smart.
Shuichi Aizawa: Quite the mental dice roll.
Aiber: mindgames upon mindgames
I also laughed from your "So it was a player? Understood." when you asked me about L's broadcast. I knew when you asked me that the only way not to give you the answer was not to respond. There would be no reason to state that I couldn't answer if it were a flavor post. But I had already decided I'd respond to all questions asked of me beforehand, so I stuck to it.

Your thoughts are always ahead of the curve and it sometimes takes a while to catch up to your reasoning. I was astonished by how you deduced the number of rooms so quickly, even with knowledge of the flavor. Your early thoughts on the set up were precisely the things I was considering when making the game, particularly "The Mafia" third-party. There was a point where Mac suspected that you could see his comparison results, because you were coming to the same conclusion he obtained from his results at relatively the same time, and he wasn't sure how at first (nor was I).

[2:02:05 AM] Yedi: finally gigured out why holder said the ronike / djc thing
not cuz he could see my tapes somehow
[2:04:44 AM] Zen: por que?
[2:18:11 AM] Zen: o :
[10:46:23 PM] Yedi: he's assumming rajam was killedby kira
[10:46:42 PM] Yedi: becuz someone in our room figured out he was wammy
[10:46:48 PM] Yedi: only ppl in our room could have done that
[10:47:00 PM] Yedi: me ronike and djc and holder are in the room
[10:47:08 PM] Yedi: process of elimination
[10:50:44 PM] Yedi: which is why he was asking me for confirmation on it
[10:51:09 PM] Yedi: atleast that's my assumption, kinda hilarious if true since he figured out by being a baller what i figured out from results

Some faults in your play: I have made my mafia philosophy clear before games in the past, but I failed to do so here when I should have. As I've mentioned thoughout this page, flavor and set up analysis will never be enough to catch scum. Furthermore, one should never expect aspects to be identical to the story it's taken from. Themed mafia games basically take the characters and objects from a story and use them as the background foundation of the mafia game. The fundamentals of the game do not change.

The flavor should never condemn or clear players. If it were another game, like an adventure game, that would be a different story. Your fellow core town members should had known better. It seemed that you did pick up on it after Ruy's lynch and changed your approach accordingly.

Orbo @Orboknown
Oh man. It would be really poor for me to sharply criticize someone that was doing me a favor by replacing in, but I must say that I cannot for the life of me understand why you were inputting random numbers the entire game. It was so important to the scum team that you get in contact with them via the boku ga kami. And it was even more important for you since you couldn't win the game without obtaining the death note. For the first couple of phases I understood how you had just not gotten a chance to read the game yet, but I thought that even if you hadn't read through the game and saw the number scum was picking, you would have still made an attempt of your own to sync up your inputs. I tried to hint a couple of times that you should probably search the thread for clues. The number that scum was picking was on the very first page posted by the very first guy to post in the game. And he made it very, very obvious. Ronike made another attempt later on to get you to pick the number 3, but you had gone V/LA during the time.

I am curious if you had any reads for the scum team. Your switch to DJ Day 3 actually saved Ronike at the last minute. His votes were secretly doubled, and had you/adum not switched, he would have been the lynch. I thought that was a pretty nice Mikami moment if it you were intentionally trying to avoid voting scum. I will also point out that you blended very well with the town. No one really had you as scummy and you were never on scum's radar.

Ranmaru @ ranmaru ranmaru
Best reads and interpretation of the game by far. I agree with you that you might have had more influence had you been more active early on. People just seem to constantly underestimate you though. Your only bad read was holder, and you should have worked more with Mac. If you guys would have just respected each other's views, you would have had the game.

You were the only player to really look for and discuss intent behind players throughout the whole game. I've already mentioned to you how elsewhere how to improve your influence. Another thing to add is show that you understand where another person is coming from before you present your own view. This will show them that you're not just being stubborn and they may be more willing to listen to you. I think you should have pushed harder on your interpretation of the morbid composer ability and fought a little harder against Red Ryu's lynch. The core town was very strong this game, and it needed more force to be broken.

Overall, you're a model of how players should have went about the game, at least in the town-hall aspect.

Red Ruy @ #HBC | Red Ryu #HBC | Red Ryu
I already discussed with you my thoughts regarding your play, but I'll reiterate here. As I said, it was lack of play that really hurt you. You certainly shouldn't have given up when you came to think the MC ability would convert you. The inactivity Day 1 was 100% excusable, but once your schedule opened up, you still were largely absent. Had you been a part of the Night 1 discussion in the KIT room, you might have been able to swing the perception of your slot. There were parts where you were scummy, but could have been fixed with effort. There was a barrage of posts you made at one point that I thought really showed your town, but the core town members were tunneling you hard, and I feel that ultimately demotivated you.

Kuz @th3kuzinator
Your role was mad difficult to win with and required a lot of work. I thought your Day 1 went in hard, but that was completely lost by Dusk. The irl stuff sucks though and I completely understand your not being able to get into the game. When you rolled mello, I thought it woulda been a role you'd enjoy, even though it wasn't necessarily town. Would have liked to have seen you gone full touhou on this.

Rajam @ Rajam Rajam
It was so funny that you were making it obvious that you were Wammy. I was wondering if you were intentionally trying to get killed haha. I was surprised that the other KIT members didn't immediately pick up on your use of "hola" in both the game thread and chat room.

Final Thoughts

The scum roles were really difficult to win with relative to other mafia games, and I intentionally made it so. Scum shouldn't be able to win simply by town playing badly. This is too often the case in Dgames games. Either side should have to put in effort to win. The scum team this game really need to work together as a cohesive unit, Light being at the center of the coordination. If any part of the unit was lost or not functioning effectively, it hampered the whole being. Though it was still possible for two or one of the components to make it to endgame after losing the others. I forgot to mention above in Light's description that he wasn't ever actually in any real danger from being killed by Rem. The double-death only went one way. If Light died, Misa would die. But if Misa were going to die, Rem would inevitably use his ability before it happened. Thus Misa being lynched on the next cycle would not take Light with her.

There was a lot of inactivity on both sides, but primarily on the scum team. Alakaslam and Ronike were left completely hanging. There was a point where I gave Ronike control Light's and Rem's actions, because there was simply no one else to do them. Town really has to stop stapling their eye on the players that are actively posting. Scum are seriously, more often than not, the players that are coasting / not posting. And most of the scum wins in Dgames have come from this.

Things I would change about the game:

1. I wouldn't have Steve Mason/Light or any scum in the SPK room. I think that room would have been just fine as an all town room.
2. Each room should have it's own specific ability that players in the room could vote to use and in what manner. This would have made the rooms actually valuable. As they were, there was little incentive to actually use them.
3. Mello should have the trigger ability and simply being the lead on the lynch should not be enough to complete his win-condition.

Things I wouldn't change about the game:

The 4-day Day deadline. It's not going to change anything. An inactive town will be inactive. An active town will be active. Inactive scum will be inactive. Active scum will be active. If you take a look at other games that have been hosted in the past 6 months that have 7+ day deadlines, you'll notice the same pattern of town doing nothing until the last day or 2.

Features I'd possibly add:

1. Access to dropped items. I didn't have this, because I felt the game was already complex enough. I didn't want to have another feature this time around or spend the time to balance it.

2. A Mello faction (Mello, Matt, III Ratt) or Mafia faction (Rod Ross, Mello, another)

The 42 pages turned out to be too much for me, but the game captured the feel of the show very well, I just came in a little too late and had no idea what was going on. I'd like to see it again if possible.

Side note: We actually knew Ranmaru wasn't L, I was just hoping that if I made myself look stupid and said I was killing L people might not think too much about why I used by daykill instead of instantly connecting it to Ronike. Not that it helped too much

Batsnacks is very bad.

Past that, there was a lot of very bad play, in fact the only people I would say who played well were Ronike, Holder, Alakaslam, Ranmaru, and myself before I got lazy (the indies too I guess, but that ****'s weak). So shoutouts to them. GG offsite people ruining the game. Nice setup though mod.

Oh yeah dude, you actually touched on what I consider a flaw of the game.

A small portion of the town was privy to vital information that affected how the rest of it played during the dayphase. I didn't push my agendas as much because it seemed obvious to me that Holder/Mac (2 strong town reads) had some kind of investigative power with the language they were using hence me letting go of the reins. I think it would have been better if town didn't have that wrench in the system.

It also doesn't help when @batsnacks plays like a complete idiot and fakeclaims a guilty (on Ryu, this is why I kept quoting him D2 or whatever it was) when he isn't the cop in addition to protecting scum.

Hilarious that you thought I was someone else.

I can't believe I wasn't thinking that the important characters that were so frustratingly invisible to me, such as L, Light, etc. were at the same time posing as more minor characters. To me Matsuda was none other than Matsuda, especially in a game about names haha. Poor imagination on my part, they're basically fake claims handed to them and I just wasn't thinking about such a possibility. At the end there I was just thinking that L was perhaps alone (not entirely strange), perhaps the minor characters were in fact altered in flavor to prevent claims from being overpowered (like Adumb's warning about the design preventing imbalance), and that Light and friends were either alone or in their own group (hence my phobia of non-groupers and my desire to ascertain the identity of outside communications). Ah well.

I understand my shortcomings. In all honesty I'm not very good at this game, as much as I enjoy the idea of it. Looking at someone and concluding "Yes, this guy is scum" is just strangely unnatural/unthinkable to me. My ability for inference is severely lacking. As a result I leaned wholly on deducing the path I needed to take in the hopes that the most "useful" option for each Day was taken at least. Wammy's death was a confession that gave me this direction. That kind of focus is cancerous for the game, and I'm sorry for contributing to how things ended up. I also get how from someone's perspective I'm quite scummy and therefore I do not blame Ranmaru for feeling the way he did. Inevitably there would've been one person not okay with my M.O. which is understandable.

Thank you for letting me play and inviting me and the kind words, there's nothing to apologize for. I'm not sure how this would've played out. Frozen was looking good to me because of Kyryk and the same was for some others, so that was a problem; looking at that group would've been inevitable, but how long would it have taken to get him??? Misa was on the way out, sure. Alakaslam wasn't very favored so maybe that would've been okay. Orbo would have been a huge question mark, especially if Mac/L would've been around still. Dunno. You say we should've focused more on those being quiet, but it's that reasoning that made us go for DJ and not Misa, so it was just a rough situation all around.

LOL at the Light Yagami avatar comment.

There were quite a few moments from you that made me chuckle in the game. This was my favorite:
I felt way too obvious in that room; if I had been more calculated I could've emulated someone's mannerisms/expressions a bit to pass as someone else, but it was too late to do that so I tried speaking in third person. Besides, I knew my alignment of course so, knowing a Cop might be among us, it would've been a waste to actually have me checked, so I tried to make it seem like a bad idea despite my public welcoming of the idea (which was just an attempt to get Ranmaru off me really). Towards the end I didn't want to speak so as to merely make it all the more clear who I was. What I was saying in the game thread either explicitly or indirectly implied that I was in the group. I, quite poorly, tried to misdirect Kira's attention by pretending to "know" the members of the group: Adumbrodeus, Ronike, DJCrinkleCut, and The Real Gamer. Hoped to pass off TRG as Matsuda who I knew to be Mac and myself as Adumbdrodeus (the only other guy who expressed interest in the flavor). Afterwards, tactical silence to not betray that obvious trick was what I thought to be best.

That was largely bravado to try and get more reaction, but I kind of figured by the mention of Light, obviously referencing Light Yagami, would've been a strange info drop from a host's perspective so I figured it was from a player that knew that he existed in the set-up. If I had been smart, I would've immediately looked at the Takada segments and would've tried to crack the messages for any slips that would indicate a player, though I probably would've failed because lol Alakaslam.

I want to say more but for now:

Sorry Holder for scum reading you. ;-; Forgive me? I like your style of play and hope to see you around in more dgames mafia. Join the next game! :D

Let me ask you one question: What would you do if you were playing in a flavorless, simple setup?

Sorry mac the wording from the tape didn't spark me, I understood that's why you wanted both. Also I didn't trust you that much mah bad.

2.) Zen I'd like for you to give me an example of how I could/should have fought the ryu lynch harder and the morbid composer argument and where I fell weak with it.

Let me ask you one question: What would you do if you were playing in a flavorless, simple setup?
Struggle.

Haha, I'm not entirely sure. What I did in the mafiascum newbie game I shared is the only example of me in an incredibly basic set-up and it was very short. I've not gone back to play there since. So it's tough to definitively answer, though I know that I wouldn't excel at least. In that game's Day 1 I recall getting flak for not being a read-fan, though I did eventually categorize players in would-lynch and would-not-lynch pools with as much reasoning as I could. Like a mix of deductive/inductive thinking.

Again, in my backroom we all had power roles and we could PM each other at Night and I relied directly on those two aspects. My strategy in those games is typically to be very open about my role to establish incentive (trust) for private exchanges of information during the Night in order to try and prove everyone and myself ASAP and put those who refuse low on the totem pole along with those who claim something bizarre, redundant/contradictory of other claims, something unfalsifiable or incredibly hard to disprove, and worst of all: anyone who claims to come up scum upon any checks (Miller).

Bleh, this game was a struggle for me. Early game I was super pumped and into it, I even had a chart listing who I thought people were. With my teammates going inactive left and right day 2, that's kinda when I half gave up and did the deal so I wouldnt have to pay as much attention to things. Oh I was reading pretty much the whole game, and was a hell of a lot more active with things than I looked, but I wasn't looking as deeply. Sorry for the inactivity I suppose, but it was really the only option I had availible to me.

I really don't think claiming Wedy woulda done a damn thing, and I was terrified to claim anything as I was so sure if I claimed anything in thread, people would be all "Wedy dont smile all over the place, you a liar!", or in the chatzy that people would realize that I was Ronike, and say much the same thing. Especially once town was set on me or DJ, which since my room was so small and I had claimed Holder and Adum, the two I thought to be in my room, to be town, my only play was to agree.

Mac was going the next night in the same way Garg did. Worth noting, every death we had going from then on was planned to silence and deactivate players, but control their votes. Don't know if we could have pushed through, especially since I was taking double votes and all, but it was a pretty neat way to have control over the town.

All in all, glad this is over, Im fairly satisfied with the outcome. I really dont think we would have won.

**** me, holder you did say TRG... Dammit, I should have been paying more attention, you did get me with that, but I suppose only because I was hardly paying attention by that point.

Oh also? The smiley struggle was real. Had SOOOOOO many problems trying to remember to post a smiley, and to have an actual reason to do so to make it less obvious that it was a restriction. Would be interested to know how many were onto me in regards to the restriction before Mac commented on it.

It really WAS just a gun shot [from kuz/Mello] that killed Rajam/Wammy and not Kira?

Oh my ****ing god.

Oh, reason we went after Garg immediately was I thought the shot on Rajam was him, and I didn't want him shooting me, as that would kill the entire scum team. Thats why we went Garg first, then was gonna be Mac.

some thoughts after reading 1.8% of thread.

yea holder, but I had investigated Ronike/DJC and knew one of them was scum. So you coming up with that reasoning was a perfect way for me to push that unalligned knowledged without outing my power (atleast right away). So it worked out well

lol so kyryk really was just straight up defending his scum partner right out of the blue. something i thought was a town tell cuz i didn't think scum would be so random and blatant about it...

if we killed Ronike instead of DJC that day, we would have killed both Ronike and Kyryk, kira and misa. Which woulda made Ran + many others in town happy. but instead.. DJC happened

Ronike's Role PM said:
You must post at least 5 times a day. You must include a smiley face in each of your posts during the Day and Dusk phases. Any of the following smileys are acceptable:
lol i knew something was up with this ****

Yeah sorry about that.

Actually, I think I did move my vote on Ronike when you disagreed initially, so all of you guys were wrong and I was right. :troll:

nvm about the misa-light thing i just said

yea i def relied on my results way too much. puzzling out who was scum from the vague percentages was too appealing of puzzle for me and kinda superceded just normally playing the game. in the future i'll try not to spearhead town as much and not divert from scumhunting (i didn't realize i was doing this but in retrospect i can kinda see it). fwiw after the Ryu lynch there was def many times i tried to sit back and let other ppl talk / do their thing, but then noone would say **** for like 2 days and I would just go back to posting a ton

@ #HBC | Red Ryu #HBC | Red Ryu , looks like I gave you the J treatment. I did think you were really scummy up till some of your much better posts d2, but by then i just really wanted the lynch and so was maligning anything you said >_>. probably not the most pro-town thing to do

@gargs, the time I pushed you the previous day was because I was confused by Ran not acting with the information of my tape. And i really strongly thought he was town, so I assumed that someone must have somehow stolen the tape before Ran got it. When you made the post about knowing DJC/Ronike to contain a scum, it seemed like that showed that you had knowledge of what i wrote in the tape. also despite mentally town reading you much of the game, i could not shake my wariness of your slot

i probably wouldn't have scum read KyryK, especially with the SPK knowledge outted. his scum slips just seemed like bad townie play. The rest of town was onto him though so kudos.

anyways, 1 thing i think i did do right was identify an obvious town block really quickly. Ran I really did want to work together with you -- I was actually going to investigate Kyryk with someone n3 to appease your slot. but then day3 came and you were acting weird and i realized Kyryk was in a room where I already know the other plays in the room so I figured a Kyryk investigation wouldn't have been as useful.

Ronike I wish you killed me earlier

I am the meanest scum here. <3 ranmaru sorry for being so patronizing as you were so right!

Kudos

So now I understand, at first I knew that my chat likely had raye (THIS RANMA- Adumbrodeus? I thought he was Damdred, lol...) as town, then I thought only kyryk & I could be scum and like kills couldn't happen unless kyryk had all info. So I realized the scum chat in another game with scum and town in multiple neighborhoods was uninformed one time for balance, and decided raye must also be scum.

The tapes I had thought were little wifom bombs, and the broadcast a big one- I was actually laughing with a laugh that turned someone's head when I read my role >:) I actually cackled. I love spreading wifom as scum, and was going to create this huge unrelated side story with the tapes and give them to different people to distract them.

Suddenly, friend who insists I should see death note! Friend (and Zen) mentions scum used tapes, not town! Hiiiiijole! But, I was integral to scum comms and I was reinvigorated

Until kyryk

Wtf kyryk

Atfter a few hours, I actually became unsure if I was scum as there was no QT and mention of Steve mason and I was unsure whether I was actually Kiyomi or David.

Sorry mac I just saw two results of 'I compared stuff' 'unaligned' didn't really set my thing off. I just didn't notice it my bad. Easier to notice '1 of dj/ronike is scum from result' or something. Then I'd be like "hmm". I will admit I let my read taint what I thought of your role. Sorry for not working with you here.

@ Alakaslam Alakaslam : No worries. You were scum. Be town next time so we can smite the scums

@ Holder of the Heel Holder of the Heel , I had fun buddying up with you all game. you should play more normal mafia.
@ Alakaslam Alakaslam , good ****, you were too good. I wanna see you play as town
Lately my tow game is much better than scum. Ranmaru knew my bs right away.

Although it is true, I seek uncommon knowledge by uncommon methods. I started bsing about being hamstringed and smash boards vs TL mostly because it would have been true, I wonder if ranmaru smelled the BS in all that. See, if I were town I would "IDGAF lynch me out if you don't like me. I seek the way of basagran and novazyme, for the great and epic pesticidic fertilizer if I feel like it. Stay CHUPAZI my friends" or something.

Ya no, you presented it as a game with flavor weaved into the gameplay which was part of the reason why I chose to sign up in the first place and even on a base level, even on games that just use flavor as a wrapper roles not making sense for a characters used is a first order fakeclaim detection method. Your choice made no sense and functioned as a trap for those who knew the flavor, as was illustrated EVERYONE who knew the flavor would call BS on that claim.

If it was just me, then I could accept I was off-base, but it was holder too.

I'm surprised at Alak, the initial exchange I had with him in the FBI room was insanely obvious town, I obviously severely underestimated him. Well played good sir.

yea I worded it like that cuz i wanted to fit a lot of information into the character limited tape

anyways, unless you replace out and go inactive or @#HBC | BadWolf it up, don't apologize about your play. I easily should have listened to you more about alakaslam / Kyryk especially since I didn't feel tooo strongly about them.

I did think that dealing with the ppl from my results was more important just cuz it was confirmed that scum would be btwn the 2 ppl i investigated. Though this aint the best thing to think / do becuz at worst we'd still have to waste a lynch to catch that confirmed scum, and too many lynches like that would result in us losing the game before we could get through the collection of confirmed scum.

Oh and my buddy described Death note as follows: "it is hard for me to think of a precisely Evil faction in Death note. I guess you could say it was Kira, (I interject "YES I AM SCUM! MAHAHAHAHAHAH" to a chuckle from him) but, ok hush- but, there is actually another team gunning for Kira that just wants to get ahold of the death note- in the context of a mafia game, I might worry more about them if you are Kira. But for what it's worth I didn't even remember Kiyomi Takada until you read that to me, so take me with a grain of salt"

So the 3P wifom was kind of intentional.

Ah. I totally fault myself. I just wanted a comprimise and was annoyed that you had to get dj/ronike but I realized why after a while. But, I wasn't sure what to make of investigave roles when I know raye is in the game, I know I might become one, I know someone sent me a gorf result (lol after he died), and you sent me that. If we went ronike I would get it tho. Plus I was gonna go for ronike the next day anyways

I also was playing a bit more conservatively because of my role.

Alright, thanks man.

@Zen: I also didn't know how to really defend Ryu cuz I had him as null. I don't know how to read him correctly. So yea

and let me say this, there is nothing more frustrating then knowing you have scum but also knowing you could never create a lynch because they've left you with 0 material anyone else will believe. I had light from his goddamn first few posts but nobody accepts my reasoning and his inactivity left me with no material whatsoever.

Oh ya, and I do have to say I'm sorry for leaving you in a position to not be able to respond @ Xivii Xivii even if I do disagree with you on it, it was poor form. Honestly though, it was a tactical choice, I felt that I needed to make a point of letting it go rather then controlling it because some people were already arguing my reasons for it were scummy. Sorry that it left you out to dry :(

The general inactivity of the scumteam made it so impossible to do pretty much anything early game as well with such incredibly short days, no slips and finishing lines of conversation took forever. It was so late before I caught ronike on something (my philosophy on him was that as scum he's playing very uncomfortably right now, so if he's slipping up and making basic mechanical mistakes he's scum, otherwise he's town), and taking that convo to the point where he committed took an entire extra day phase.

Longer day phases are just too necessary.

Hey I saw the scumminess of Kyry and FE. Fe was deff scummy. But people wrote it off as him being town and never came back to it. But I do agree him not even being here doesn't actually help us lynch him because 'he's just an inactive'. I think he had enough to be seen as scummy but not by most people sadly.

Ya, Alak's really good I wanna see him play more.

Oh and I pegged batsnacks as dumbtown because his mafia philosophy incredibly simplistic, being wrong does not make one scum.

<3 ya, I know. Wish you had picked up on it earlier then maybe we could've made something happen, but still the issue of too little material remained. Depressing.
