Every other smash when you KO someone straight up they either fall in front of the screen or bounce off of it. Is it me or does this not happen in pm?

No, it doesn't. I believe it was removed because it takes a different amount of time than the other animation, and is random. In competitive play, that is relevant, if only slightly.

They have said that they will bring it back as soon as they equalise the animation times, so it's not gone forever.
