<p align="center">Today’s update reveals classic mode once again has returned.</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/various11_071030a-l.jpg" alt="It's a classic!" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /><!--more--></p>
<p align="center">Just like in the old mode, you choose a character, set of stock and level difficulty.</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/various11_071030b-l.jpg" alt="Stage 1" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
As usual, the Metal, Giant, Team matches still take place through out the mode. Sakurai said the world you fight in is pretty much determined by stage number:
<blockquote>The world you fight in is pretty much determined based on stage number. Stage 1 is based on The Legend of Zelda. Stage 3 is based on Pokémon. And each time, the characters are chosen randomly.</blockquote>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/various11_071030c-l.jpg" alt="Allies!" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
<p align="center">As usual heart indicators are used to establish allies from foes.</p>
<p align="center"> <img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/various11_071030d-l.jpg" alt="Course Clear!" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
Sakurai also mentions about the coinage we see at the clear screen and I can already postulate what these are for because some video from Subspace Emissary made it known. Those coins are used to turn your enemies into trophies. But here are Sakurai’s own words, you can judge for yourself:
<blockquote>Huh? You’re wondering what the coins on the Stage Clear screen are for? Um, you think they’re there to make it look more lively?
No, no. You earn and save these up little by little as you play. And supposedly you can use them somewhere. But no—you don’t use them to shop.</blockquote>
