Classic mode freezes during team Samus battle

I was playing Classic mode and had to fight Team Samus in Norfair. I double KO'd two Samus and the game froze right before the next 2 Samus could spawn.

I'm using the full set P:M version and was using a Blue Alloy texture for Zelda, but I doubt the texture caused it.
