Chicagoland Crew Formation

Since the release of Brawl, some people have been dropping smash, and some people have been taking smash more serious. Some of the regulars of our group plays have been unable to make the transition comfortably and no longer play.

The target of this thread is to get a handful of dedicated players to play weekly together, as our group did in brawl, which is the only way to get better. So far we have Cosmo and myself (and occasionally Dabear) and are looking for people who are around the area who are looking to sharpen their game.

If we do get 2-3 more people to come to small weekly gatherings, a dedicated crew will be formed with a name and whatnot.

I live on the southside of Chicago near midway. If you feel that you can make it once a week (weekday not weekend. weekends are for tourneys) please let us know. Cosmo and I are doing well in the tournament scene and would like to stay on top of our game.

No more than a total of 8 people will be used to form this crew. In the case that there are many applicants, please list the top one or two characters you like to play, since we'll be looking for a diverse combination of characters for best practice.

If you've never been a part of a crew before, you should know that you are guaranteed to improve greatly. If that's not incentive, I don't know what is.

I'm pretty sure that DaBear comes form that same area. Don't think that lack of experience of general knowledge will be a deciding factor of the crew. Once these are started up, that will all catch up in no time. The best way to improve, is to play people better than you. As long as you can make it during the week on a set day and play to have fun, it's all good.

I would love to get more playing in, although I highly doubt that I'll be able to go to something weekly like this. Not having a car doesn't help either. If I ever get the chance to I'd definitely show up to one of these though. For not owning the game and playing in my first tournament I think I did pretty well at Big C's.

Other weekdays are fine if i can get a ride. I main marth, I have a couple seconds, but i don't really develop them, also, pretty much everyday this week is fine, cuz its spring break for me.

I'd definitely be interested in joining. Toon Link is currently the character I'm focusing on, but I also play MK, Pit, Ike, Marth, and Sheik, Pit being the character I'd probably most comfortably switch to. I live on 60th and Ellis, so not unreasonably far, and have a pretty flexible schedule.

Actually i count fridays as weekends, since some of us like to go out and do non-smash related things on fridays, especially on weekends where our sats get taken up by tourneys. Chances are there will be held on wednesdays or tuesdays like they used to.

well I will just assume that I have to submit an application as well, since I received no honorable mention in the first post.

I currently am fiddling around with a few different characters, but link and ness seem to be my best overall. and if diversity is what you want, not only can I play sheik, but believe it or not I can actually win with her. Despite my indifference to the game, I'm still pretty **** ****.

I'll be back for summer, and you already know I've got the dedication/skill. If you insist on having a set 8 before I get back, I'd be willing to beast one of them scrubs for the spot that is rightfully mine.

These will not be smashfests in the sense that they are open to anyone. Once a set amount of people are agreed upon, it'll be invite only. The point of the crew is to build skill by playing equally good or better people. I Have firsthand experience that holding large smashfests is no fun compared to a group of people you enjoy playing against.

Both Tre and Hoefler have seniority here, but Tre wont be counted as long as he's far away out of town. I'd also like to get Mendoza here for sure if the drive doesn't drive him crazy. (har har har)

For those of you who i don't know, next week Wednesday (April 2nd) after 6pm will be open to anyone who wants to come. Do not come if a weekly schedule is not in your long-term plans. We'll be playing for fun, but also trying to see who would make a good group.

Also, something to think about is that in a crew will have permanent partners for tournaments, so you will learn to work together well. (For those of you are who applying with friends)

You main Wario and you like it You serve as inspiration to all with your fart deaths and such. Wario is actually entertaining to watch, which is rare in brawl.
